    I'm looking at doing the same upgrade to the same vehicle and I'm just wondering what your thoughts are after 5 years or however long it's been about the maxspeedingrods k04's... Any other issues you ran into while doing the upgrade? Thanks in advance I appreciate your time

      They ran good for the first two or three years that the car was still running. I wrecked the car in 2019 and it's sitting in my driveway waiting to go back together. This October will be four years since it's been on the road.

    What did u use for the intake side. The originals are smaller and won't fit in the ko4

      , I had to buy RS4 intake piping to account for the bigger Turbo. I got them on Amazon for I think 180. They didn't fit quite right so I put silicone around the joint where it mated with the turbo but everything else fit fine. I can get a picture later if you need

    I don't know why didn't you put the same thing on there and just put a Mod chip to increase your Boost

      The original k3 turbos were very hard to find and $350+ each. I got these for $350 for both. Plus the k04 has more air output capability, where the k03 is reaching its limits at 6000 ish rpm.

    I’m putting some after market Ko4s on mine as well they look just like yours. I’ve came across a problem on passenger side turbo the waste gate spring housing is hitting and turbo will not sit flush. Any ideas or suggestions

      I'll try to take a pic of mine later. The engine is out cause I crashed the car. You probably have to reclock the housing.

    How are the turbos doing bud?

    • @russellp73
      @russellp73  5 лет назад +2

      Rather well. Runs strong. And I didn't do a tune either. The mass air flow is compensating for it.

      I'm up to two years now and the turbos are still great. I wrecked the car and it will be off the road for a year in October. But I plan on having it back on the road by October 2020 again

      @@russellp73 hey how hard was it and how much were the turbos? And do you recommend put new oil lines for the turbo as well?

    • @russellp73
      @russellp73  3 года назад +1

      @@webbsterg7898 I looked on eBay for a good set of turbos. Found ones I trusted with a make offer option and he took it. I got a pair of k04 turbos by maxpeeding rods for $350.What year is your car? The turbo outlet changed on the A6 in 2003.
      Easieat way is to pull the engine and trans as a unit and work on it outside the vehicle. I've heard of people partially dropping the subframe and going in through the wheel well but it was a nightmare getting getting them off outside the vehicle. Idk how they did it. (or they gave up and pulled the engine eventually) watch all my vids on the turbo install. Separating the trans would make install even easier because you could reach the back side of the turbo too, which is very helpful in reattaching brackets and lines.
      I did not replace the cooling lines or oil lines. They are all hard lines and difficult to get out. I think they go under the intake manifold. Wherever they go it was a big no for me. I just put in new crush washers and gaskets where the drain lines attach to the oil pan.
      The rs4 air intake kit came with all the sealing gaskets that I needed. The turbos just came with basic mounting gaskets not all the oil. Line seals.
      The car is wrecked at the moment and I'll be putting the engine back in over the winter. If you have questions, hit me up or throw me your email.
