Interesting video. Ive got an F56 Cooper S, and I find watching the history of the Mini from when BMW bought it to the transformation it is now, fascinating !
Hi mate, how did you remove the air filter box to get to the rear solenoid? It looks like there is 2 black screws in the bottom of the box holding it in place but I can’t for the life of me work out how to get them out to remove box.
.Since I have problems when the car is running cold, it shakes and spins a little before starting the car, I remove the cable from the vvt solenoid on the exhaust side. I start the car normally without knocking and jumping and I can drive it normally, albeit with a little less power. into second gear. I only have p0013 from the error, this is the vvt solenoid switch. Does the ventiltronic work then or is connected to the vvt system so that I can turn it off if the vvt system is not working. To simplify, does the valvetronic remain working if the vvt solenoids are turned off? Thanks in advance.
Hi I have 283D,288D, 2870, 2891 code on a 1.6 cooper from 2007, both vanos have been changed but still the issue only when motor is hot, then the car is vibrating when the fault indicator appears, when motor is cold there is no problem, please any advice ? Thank you
Hi, thanks for the video. I have a 2010 Mini Cooper with the same problem. The engine cuts out sometimes as we are coming to a stop. How much does it cost to fix the problem not sure if you can give me a rough price. I have an error code 2845- Vanos Exhaust Actuator Movement. Also is this a common fault on Mini Coppers? Many thanks in advance.
Yeah it's a common thing with them take the 2 solenoids out clean them swap them around see if it changes to the inlet I've had alot of success with just cleaning them
Yeah course its all to do with the timing give them a switch see if the code follows also I've done a few were a good clean of the soleniod will fix the issue hope this helps
If its a vanos issue it won't be very healthy for the car what year and mileage does it have and has the chain been done on yours what is your fault codes
This one came straight up with the vanos I did the switch from exhaust to inlet and the code change so we ended up replacing both in the end I've just bought a 2009 mini cooper I think the head gaskets gone on it so there should be some vids of that soon
Hi right the 2 codes you have are to do with your timing so you will have 2 vanos solenoids 1 at the front left side of the engine one at the rear left side so 1st of all take them out give them a really good clean you can add power and ground to see if they working properly but 9 times out of 10 I've got away with giving them a really good clean
I’ve got P0015 & rough when cold idle & erratic / lumpy when warm. The Cam position sensors are on the top right of the engine; one inlet & one outlet, both the same part; I moved front to back & P0015 code remains meaning sensors are ok. I’ve since been read it can be the exhaust Vanos solenoid sticking causing the timing to read out of tolerance, the one front left under the oil filler is the exhaust solenoid, I’m going to investigate that. There is also the inlet vanos solenoid back left under air intake pipe; bit more tricky! Failing that, the chain & tensioners could be whacked! I’ve also got Catalyst & oxygen sensor fails on live emissions data, but that could be my software scan tool not reading right. Good luck & try post back your results 👍🏼
@@kieferste I cleaned and swapped the intake & exhaust Vanos camshaft control valve solenoids and the code followed the solenoid as P0012. So I got a replacement one and now all ok

Have you tried cleaning the solenoids

sorry for the late reply not used to youtube yet have you done a reset followed by a adaptation

I have this exact problem on my mini 1.4 same error code but not swapped each one over I shall do that next would this cause the car to smoke 🤷♂️👍👍👍

Can’t i use the car like That and how long I don’t have another option 😞

Cam position sensor checked?
It was the vanos solenoids the cars been great ever since
@@kieferste I had the same issue with my 2011 R56 a couple weeks ago. The Vanos code didn't show up till I replaced the exhaust cam position sensor.

Have you done a adabtaion on the vanos
@@kieferste cant do it intake value is to hi thinking about timing chain becouse it was changed
@@vytas34 sounds like the timing is out do you have an oscilloscope
why not you share vanos location
The solenoids there at the the front and rear left hand side of the engine you can't miss them
What do you use to scan the mini
Ista d you can get the cable and software from ebay
