He doesnt teach the way he shoots because he breaks alot of rules but it works for him...he is teaching the basics so they can gain a solid foundation that works for most people. Tailor it how u want as a player grom there and master it through repetition
Im 13 and i tried his shooting form not gonna lie but i got a lot more range and became more accurate. Though you do need to tweak some stuff for your personal needs like feet tilt, feet sweep, set point. I changed those to my liking and it works for me
He usually palms it but on releasing, what he said is what happens the ball then rest on his fingertips for the push forward... So yeah he said it but couldn't explain it well
BIC yeah I agree. All you dissing curry to shut you mouth. At least he takes the time to help little kids and stuff learn the basics, unlike all the other NBA players. He is teaching what he knows and he knows what he’s doing. So all you haters need to back off.
Everyone is talking about him teaching the fundamentals, but no one wants to man up and admit that the fundamentals are WRONG. The way we were taught to shoot as kids was WRONG. Shooting form has evolved, the new fundamentals are sweep and sway, dip, turned feet.
Hanxin you could do that if it helps. but great self taught shooters are different. not everyone can achieve 100% so shooting is different for everyone. to shoot 3 pointers. it is an extension of the free throw. sometimes a light tension is a part of a shooters muscle memory. your elbow never at the right angle, your finger never the right release, in quick situation your hands will be sensitive to the seems of the basketball so you have to make your hands forget about the seems and treat the basketball like a ball with nothing on it .. etc ive seen people sweep and sway and dip with turned feet. but if they rely on the seems, they are a good shooter if they can make 10 in a row , but they are not a great shooter unless they can shoot without relying on the seems
Classics Note but every coach will try and tell you to square your feet don't dip the ball, and shoot straight up and down, when it has been proven time and time again. and what you said about shooting with the seams. The people you saw were good shooters because they turn dip and sway not because they rely on the seams.
Terryon McMillion whatever mechanics you have, I base it mostly on not relying on the seems because i am lucky enough to see two players who can shoot without the seems. they try different under-body form shots and still make 20 threes in a row. they say they rely on the top half form, or the support arm and release hand form, they say as long as their bodies are going up for the momentum, the rest is up to both shooting hands. if you treat the ball as a ball without seems you'll master a quick release accurate shot. basically it doesnt matter how they finish down low,as long as they are going up with a certain amount of momentum they are fine.
Everybody saying "Oh curry is a palm shooter so why is he teaching not to shoot from palm?" He said multiple times, do what is best and comfortable for you.

Put more of the ball in your palm than fingers and shooting becomes more difficult. He may have it in the palms the the ball is distributed to his fingers too. The bigger you hands the more you can pull off palming the ball. For some players with smaller hands, palming doesn't give good control.
