    Greetings from Greece! I have to say that although Greece is different to Canada in many ways, some of the cars you're testing do not exist in our market and needs and details a buyer should pay attention aren't similar between the two countries, i just love your video reviews! If someone wants to see racing videos, comparing what's the best handling car or which has the best performance there are other channels in RUclips - as a car enthousiast i watch many of them! But when you want to see a car a product that you buy based in some needs and want a complete analysis of the model, i think Motomouth is one of the best channels out there - that's why i watch your videos and subscribed! Keep up the good work!

    I purchased this vehicle V60R design in Feb2014 and love it. Before buying I compared it to the 328i wagon and the Audi All road. This was by far the sportiest of the bunch. It was 8grand cheaper than the other two rivals but it did not have the automated tail gate. I don't drive very much so gas is a non issue for me. I love taking it out on the highway and throwing it into sport mode. It's a rocket!
    I have not seen any on the road. My local dealer said they sold 1. The dealer I purchase it from has only sold a few. Canadians prefer the XC60.
    You should have also mentioned that above the RDesign sits the V60 from PoleStar which has 345hp, 20inch wheels, tweaked 6 speed trans from Polestar.

    The V60 seems like a really useful vehicle. looks good too.
    Not having any significantly new vehicles has been Volvo's problem for the longest time.
    A LOT of people are excited about the new XC90 and it looks amazing.
    If they put the new XC90 tech into a new design of the XC60 that would be awesome.

    Gotta love these reviewers who test loaded up cars then complain about the price. There is a $9,000 US swing from a well equipped R design to a loaded one.

    It might be more accurate to call it a sport wagon instead of "station wagon". I just took possession of the 2 ltr 8 speed and really like it. I understand that the motor/ tranny map can be upgraded with polestar software by volvo but I can't imagine changing anything on it.

  • @lotta2002

    Volvo is a European brand! In Europe we still love (Volvo) stationwagons! So Volvo builts stationwagons. And Volvo still is the best in safety. They have safety items the crahstests don"t test. Look at the V40 (do you have that is Canada?) with a pedastrian airbag. Volvo is still unique in safety, the rest is only copying, so one step behind!

    I rented a S60 Sedan from Budget , in Vancouver BC. I cannot believe how sporty it felt, with its AWD and T5 Engine. It was so well equipped too.
    I thought all Volvoes are slow and sloppy. I have changed my mind, it felt more "solid and faster" than a F30 328i
    P.S. I don't work for Volvo, just my own opinion

      @sergevivier956 9 лет назад +2

      The base V60 cost 4k more than your tsx and is twice the car. The problem with Volvo is that the base has to be ordered from Sweden.

    • @brucec43
      @brucec43 9 лет назад +2

      ldawson103 Your TSX do 0-60 in 4.9 seconds? What about awd? IIHS top pick plus rating? What about handling and grip? (not even close). Do people flock around it in parking lots like they do with an R Design V60? Nope. Yours has a better Nav system. That's about it. The TSX wagon is a nice sporty-ish appliance. The $50K V60's are serious european sport wagons. Those are never cheap.

      Johan Littorin Many of today's vehicles get top marks in crash testing, this is why Volvo isn't particularly unique. The whole industry produces much better vehicles, this V60 is a great car but other make equally safe vehicles today.

      Motormouth Canada As I'm sure you know, they build them to pass the tests. Volvo has a long history of going beyond that and making safety a priority, not just test scores. Check the curb weight of this thing and you'll see they build strength in everywhere.

    Does volvo no longer have the edge in safety features?? Volvo resently said that by the year 2020 no one is going to die in one of their cars. They sakd that when they launched the new xc90 so they dont mean this v60 but I would say Volvo still is the king of safety features and probably will be for a loooong time.

    How odd that you are just getting this. We've had it for ages in the UK. It's a nice car. But you are so right. Money is better spent on the XC60. Which is why my parents have one!

      pipcannon I have owned an XC60 R design in the US. 325 hp. What exactly do you think makes it better? I have driven the V60 for several days and own a 2015 S60 R design. I much prefer the wagon over the crossover. Unless one is hauling unusually tall cardboard boxes over deeply rutted dirt roads I fail to see how the XC60 is superior in any way.

    dont fully agree with your view on volvo as brand going quiet and people not thinking about them? might be different over in states but here in Europe Volvo since last year is really starting to gain some momentum with the xc90/s90/v90 and facelifts of the v60 v40 xc60. Yes the xc60 and old xc90 were getting long in the tooth but i think you'll find they were strong sellers right to the end, which is a testament to their design and quality.
    Not many manufacturers out there at the moment putting out such nice designs, with good tech, good engines. P.s there d3/d4/d5 diesels are pretty good engines too, but guess thats not a desired item in North America

    In 2021, and sadly the prediction is true. Volvo went from a wagon/sedan with SUV brands to an SUV brand that also sells sedans. I hardly see current-generation Volvo wagons. And that's a shame to me. I like this vehicle and the current v60. Volvo is on the verge, maybe next year, over going into its next generation of products and some wagons will be dropped. Even some sedans. While they're adding "coupe" style SUVs. Coupe style SUVs are even worse, IMO, than regular SUVs.

    What the hell is the point of modern SUVs? No off road capability, terrible handling, you might as well buy a minivan. Hell, that's what they are. Car manufacturers are tricking people into paying a premium for what are just tarted up minivans.
    Neither do I see the point of sedans, they have deliberately less space for cargo while getting nothing in return. I couldn't imagine getting anything but a stationwagon.

    • @benjaminsmith2287
      @benjaminsmith2287 3 года назад

      To sit high in. That's what I hear from people who buy them. I won't be buying one. I do like sedans. They have a separate trunk compartment and that makes for a tighter feeling vehicle than a hatch or wagon. But the wagon form is the most efficient, especially ones that have some space between the C and D pillars and not a lot of slope in the rear door.

    2 years later, Volvo USA has totally botched the V60. Go to any lot and the color/options available are terrible. Refrigerator white with skinny tires on 90% offered. But worse, virtually no R designs available. yet every internet and TV ad features an R design in red. Why advertise that model as a sporty wagon if all you offer is mundane versions? Volvo cries "nobody buys wagons!" but every single R design V60 imported gets quickly sold.

      Ivan Vojt It's about the size of mainstream family sedans up front. Or bigger than some. The rear seat is a little tight. But a lot of people don't carry around adult passengers often. The cargo area is decent, certainly bigger than any sedan. If you want a car you pay by the pound for, there are certainly plenty of wallowing plain looking mommy box crossovers to choose from. It weighs about 3800 lbs in R design form. How is that tiny? It has 57 inches of shoulder room. A Jetta sportwagen is more like 54. An entire class smaller. And with real-world discounts, here in the US currently about $6,000 off MSRP after rebates, more if you already own a Volvo, it's not expensive at all. Mid to upper 30's for an i-drive E reasonably well equipped. Now, go price a Ford Edge. It will be about $44,000. A BMW 328xi wagon with similar equipment is about $48,000. Roughly $10,000 more. You get what you pay for.

    • @brucec43
      @brucec43 9 лет назад

      serge vivier Not from my observation. R Designs are rare on lots, typically no more than one per lot. If Volvo were really pushing them they'd insist dealers stock more than one or two. Dealers here had NONE when I was shopping last summer and an ordered model would be 5 months, so we went S60 R design. They had no V60 R designs and would not have any for months we were told. They said "nobody buys them". The R design is just about $6,000 more, with some added standard content included besides the engine, suspension, body enhancements, and brake upgrades. For a Euro car that is a cheap upgrade. BMW would charge $10,000 more for all that. I doubt the margin is much higher, other than selling a more expensive car, they could probably care less. It's probably a few hundred bucks per unit added profit. But in the SE USA, they do not want to sell a lot of R designs. This is my second go-round with an R design and they are HARD TO FIND.

      Bruno TaTa Mi wife went to Volvo to buy a XC60 base 40 K and they had none in all of eastern Canada, she could have ordered one from Sweden 2-3 months waiting. A week lather, we went to BMW and bought a base X3 for the same amount that was on the lot. We would have prefer the XC60. I drive a C30 that I had to order from Volvo and it took 10 weeks to arrive because they did not have base C30 with the 16' rims around.

    That Volvo is so expensive. My pocket cannot afford it. I will settle for a Hyundai Santa Fe Sport AWD which starts at CA$31k or a Subaru Outback 3.6R which starts at CA$35k.
