We want a rematch when the Samsung s24 ultra comes out next year
Can't wait
Hey PhoneBuff!
Hey,
Can you do a speed test between the Huawei mate 60 pro v iphone 15 pro max and older iPhone models?
do a real speed test
Fake test. Do it on mobile
.
I would love to see a speed test on a 3-4 year devices (like for example iPhone 12 PM vs Galaxy S20 Ultra) just to see how the performance is affected during the years.
Iphone will win for sure, no need to test
@@VanReactions the result is clear, how much is what Im interested in.
Me too, I feel that’s really where iPhones stand out in comparison to androids
Exactly
@@VanReactionsDefinitely won't since IPhone actively slow phones down to preserve battery life which they have openly admitted and created a scandal over LOL. Samsung will win that test with ease
Disabling the double swipe to exit on Samsung, I think the times would be equal on both phones. Either way, well done Apple
Reduce animations to 0x would make Samsung win for sure
Yeah. Even the 14 pro max vs 23 ultra, there's too many double swipes while the iPhone doesn't
All phones must be tested with the default settings. No tweaking.
@@AndreVictorGoncalvesYeah, but if you also turn on reduced animations on ios. It would also basically just beat the samsung.
Especially since ios puts more focus on animation smoothness, turning animations off would make the phone pretty fast.
@@jdzajdza yeah. I get that. But android's strength comes out from customization. But by default, apple wins. 4 second difference isn't really that big because you don't really open all of these apps at once and swap all the time.

For video encoding they should use Kinemaster.
Kissing up much?
@@tumelotshepoThey should use both...
*HOWEVER:*
This test is mostly measuring animations speed and random network/sever bottleneck issues, not performance per se. If you care about the performance, then pay attention only to the parts of the video when heavy applications are loaded or heavy tasks are ongoing. (Spoiler, in this aspect, iPhone has been the fastest for like fifteen years straight.)
@@tatianaes3354 It is not. It's just the apps being used that are better optimised for iPhones. Look at TechTalkTV speed test.
There is one thing that I am curious about. How will the S23 Ultra perform with One UI 6. They revamped the animations, and made it smoother.
It's faster. Should test again after the update.

Nicely said. No need to fight over which is best etc. both are personal preference. (Pssst psssst I am iPhone user too 😉)

Exactly! I use to have a Galaxy Note 10+ then I switched to iPhone, and in the future maybe I'll go back to the Samsung's Ultra series. As long as they drop that hideous curved screen edge.
You mean snapdragon?? because they are the people behind of Samsung galaxy phones performance and battery life success.
@@christhedoc8689 No, I mean Samsung. Qualcomm / Snapdragon also makes things for iPhones.
Reduce animations to .5X, set the home gesture to single swipe instead of double and try again. It's literally 2 trips in the settings that speed up Android phones immensely. No mods or hacks, just simple tweaks for people concerned about speed.

Realistic proof that it's just up to feel, customization, and preferences / ecosystem with these flagship phones. Excellent job to both. Expected the iPhone to win being a gen newer but also it didn't beat the S23 Ultra by that much at all. Guess we'll get to see how the S24 goes soon enough.
If you remove the double swipe from Samsung, the results could be different. That and speeding up the animation which you can do on Android but not Apple. So as far as I'm concerned speed wise, Android is where it's at.

as an iphone fanboy, I am offended, frustrated, insulted, violated, harassed, assaulted, angry, raped, hyperventilating and rage crying because other android companies seem like they are improving by large strides while iphone only improves by baby steps. iphone must not be surpassed in all categories. i really like the now slightly faster-charging, photography, screen resolution, better durability, more features, and the 60 fps which throttles to 40+ fps genshin impact gaming after 1-2 hours or so with the iphone. i hope android does those things i mentioned especially the gaming part because throttling is a pain. never tried the latest android flagships before but i'm sure iphone does literally everything better. i'm sure the s24 ultra, when it comes out, won't even be close to the iphone 15 pro max.
@@johnnysinssexmaster well s24 already is confirmed to have a better CPU, much, MUCH better GPU (means much superior gaming performance), better thermals, more power efficiency, brighter screen, larger screen, no ugly notch or "island", and some more. Well, the only reasons S23U from 5 seconds more was due to the double swipe gesture which wasted it's time. If the basic navigation buttons were used then the results would have been opposite. But such a small difference is considerable, especially when a 7 months old device is being compared to 2 weeks old device. Hence, both are best.

as a Samsung fan,i expected iPhone will have a huge lead, considering its 3nm processor, but damn well done Samsung ,if there wasn't that 2-swipe in galaxy, its almost a draw💥💥
Chip dont matter in many of the normal apps.
Chipset doesn't really matter in day to day apps. Only in gaming you might want it. remember faster ram and storage also plays a huge rule here.
Samsung nailed the iphone
I expected Samsung to kill it as it has faster LPDDR5X RAM, and Apple has slower RAM. Also, the S23U has UFS 4, and Apple does not. So, this was a done deal for Samsung in the more minor apps. Which was the case. But Apple made it up by doing CPU tasks faster, the real power showing its head, and won it despite the much better RAM and storage on the Samsung. 3nm is real!
Well done samsung ❤️😍
My concern is on the S23U vs iPhone 14 Pro Max, the 23 had a time of 2:41:53. Here you're showing it nearly 8 seconds slower, why does your test allow that big of a delta between two results on the same device?
could be software differences maybe?

You can disable the double swipe for fair comparison. I personally use the phone with this feature disabled and that's the only way to enjoy using the phone. Double swiping isn't practical and makes the user experience slow. I think Samsung would win if the double swipe feature is turned off. But i have no idea if phone buff reads the comments or not.

I hate the swipe gestures. I love the buttons way better and feel quicker with them. And besides, I customized my buttons to look different. They look nice
I could be wrong, but I feel like more time is taken between double swipes than necessary. At least in my experience, I can almost immediately let go of the first swipe and do the second swipe, so assuming that difference in time is due to 2 swipes to exit certain apps, it might be a different result of the swipes happen quicker

This was before they updated iOS 17 right?
It's scary to think how much of a gap it would be with the newer iOS.
That was the BEST speed test yet.
For a better comparison, I would like to see what type of difference it will make if you gave the galaxy it's home buttons back. Or at least figure out a way to not have to double swipe on almost every app. Arguably I think this years iPhone has managed to close the gap on the Samsungs but they will more likely fire back harder with the next galaxy that comes out. The king is down but not out! Lol.. plus by the time the next ultra hits the market, the iPhone should have some quality of life updates to speed things up once the apps are optimized to take advantage of the new chip.
I think you need to watch it again if you think samsung double swiped all apps.. and iphone does too in some apps. Would not make any differense
@@vikinnorway6725samsung has to double swipe on more apps than iphone... So yeah it will make difference of 3-4 second
@@nothing9220 you should watch it again, apple did double swipe too and and samsung single swiped alot so. Would not make a differense.
crying poor android fan:🤣
You should do another normal vs low power mode for the 15 pro/pro max. Since the M2 on low power mode is slightly faster than M1 but the efficiency increases greatly when compared to normal, maybe these new 3nm chips when detuned have great battery life when on low power mode
What does the M series chips have to do with phones
@@8xus_ the M chips are based on the A chips, just scaled up because of the higher power the laptops can give the chips
@@kreshnikkona3866 their physically sized up versions of A series chips
Low power mode only disable the 120fps (and also the 120Hz with it, and cap them at 60fps/60Hz), and the tasks will only use efficiency cores, so in a test like this it will not result a huge difference, since their advantage should shine when the phone reach the throttling state on the none low power mode phone, but you need to play those games at least for a few minutes, not just open them to let the throttling happen.
@@TamasKiss-yk4stI meant this comment for him to do his usual battery test but with 2 iPhone 15 pro/max on normal vs low power mode to see the difference this year, usually it’s not that much but with the addition of a 3nm chip, a more efficient display (the driver chip is 42nm compared to 60nm on the older models) and also a slightly larger battery. So I thought that the gains from low power mode would be greater than usual this year
The only speed test i look forward to
What device is used to touch the phone?
I honestly think iPhone would crush galaxy if it wasn’t using it’s efficiency cores for menial tasks like opening Spotify and other minor/light apps.I think it’s time to upgrade your test with some heavier apps and tasks to show the true power of A17 pro ✌️
yes. Actually it depends what kind of apps youre talking about
But hardly no one uses those so called heavy apps (assuming they exist). If they exist then wouldn't it be better to use a laptop or desktop?
Lol its like boasting how much torque your mustang has but gets smoked by GTR everytime😂 just wait for the S24ultra my frend
S23 Ultra can still keep up, bet the S24 is going to be a beast with Gen 3 Snapdragon.
A17 pro will be way better than snapdragon gen 3 in terms of raw power (ex Editing high quality videos, playing AAA games, etc )..
Also the A17 pro has a 3nm soc vs 4nm SD gen 3, with worst geeckbenchs results, there are already leaked.
@@giovannirattin5884cope 😂 despite 8 gen 2 having a worse geekbench score than A14 it crushes A17 pro in day to day performance so cope harder
@@giovannirattin5884cope boy cope. Geekbench is the shitiest benchmark ever made. 8 gen beats sorry destroys A16. A17 is just an overclocked A16. Look at geekerwan's video, there are no IPC or efficiency gains. Even if 8gen 3 is only 10% faster, it'll beat A17 pro Max ultra whatever Apple throws at it.
I bet the s37 ultra will be even more of a beast 🤡that's how evolution works.
This is probably the most official speed test I've seen everyone else uses their fingers and assumsions
Jus waiting for this😊
Take off the double swipe to minimise full screen apps and the s23U would win...
Iphone double swiped too and samsung did singleswipe alot too, not a big differense at all, just excuses.
@@vikinnorway6725 excuses for what? We're raving about a phone that was released way before 15 pro max and it loses by the smallest of margins. You must be crying in anticipation of s24 ultra....
@@wr3099 making excuses for the s23u loss makes no sence. It lost.
@@vikinnorway6725 who said it didn't? It lost by 2 seconds. Thanks for confirming you're crying in anticipation for s24 ultra

Damm!! Phonebuff are the best when it comes to tech
I watch the video and then come to comment section to check on the vibe and it's always the same, people are always excited to see PhoneBuff style speed test.
