  • RK's UV Chironomid makes you think outside of the box when tying a midge pattern. This pattern closely resembles Rick Takahashi's Mini Bow Tie Buzzer, but in a larger chironomid version for lake fishing. I am using an AFF N304 hook (straight-eye, 2x-short, 3x-wide scud/emerger hook. Check them out at www.allenflyfishing.com.
The best thing about this fly is how it looks under water. The UV Clear Fly Finish coating provides the fly with a brilliant shine and depth to the fly. While the Mirage Opal Tinsel gives off a large array of colors. The overall profile and depth that this fly has truly makes this a fun fly to fish and tie.

Thank you for your response. In the world of fly tying there is very rarely an orginal pattern. Many of my patterns that I tie are tying techinques and materials I have learned from tiers/patterns. This pattern closely resembles many other chironomids but I use different materials than Davie's particular pattern.

I really like your fly, but it is not exclusive to you. I have seen many tyers use the same exact pattern on youtube. I do love the way you tie, and believe you are excellent at creating very quality flies. Some of the patterns, however, are not "RK's" Davie McPhail just for one ties this very same chronomid. There may be something that makes this pattern yours, if so I apologize and ask that you would point it out to me. All the best, Sean
