- Our radio is fixed, but the outbreak of summer fires in California have left us with low visibility due to widespread smoke and haze. We take a short hop in the local area around the airport to test the radio before aborting and heading back home due to the surreal visibility conditions.

Watching this almost a year later. The fires in the west have made their way over to the Carolinas, where I live. I went up for a flight today visibility was just so bad and it’s supposed to get worse tomorrow.

Look at that haze! I landed in Colorado Springs two weeks ago and the visibility even driving down the street was awful. Nothing like some IFR "I Follow Roads" flying.

What camera are you using on the outside? So ready for this country wide smoke to leave!! Still a beautiful flight though.
The outside is one of the $40 knockoff GoPros from Amazon...a few days after shooting this we acquired an *actual* GoPro and the quality difference is noticeable! It’s still nice to have the cheap one on the wing in case we lose it 🤣
Not bad at all, I was thinking a older GoPro. Yeah it makes me a bit nervous having big$ mounted outside at times. I have Hero7&8 and Insta360 One X. But good footage 👍
How do you like the insta360? We are hoping to invest in a 360 cam in the next year.
Tango and Juliet I like it. Not as clear as the GoPro 7 black and newer overall. But in good light, it’s amazing. And fun to edit in my opinion...
I hear Hesperia is a great spot if you are looking for a traditional Hesperian breakfast.
Visited there 5 times. Only successfully ate breakfast once. 🤦🏻♂️
