Hans Wilsdorf? Jokes, how about Anthony de Haas and Wilhelm Schmid, Chris Grainger, Toto Wolff, Lewis Hamilton or George Russell? Or an ex F1 driver like Jenson Button or Nico Rosberg? They must have a great collection.
Great interview! I always like to learn more about the people behind a brand and how they make their decisions. I think Edouard Meylan from Moser & Cie would also be an interesting interview partner.
Do better interviews!!! I know you both are owned by the same company (Richemont) but Atleast pretend to do a decent interview where you ask meaningful brand relevant questions.
How about not making watches that look like dive watches, but which can only just about survive being worn in the rain? How about not downgrading movements, and removing features like hacking seconds? How about not using previous movement model numbers, to hide downgrades? How about actually adding features, like tool-less adjustment to bracelet clasps? This interview missed the chance to ask about many of the issues, which have upset paying customers. I don’t care what time this man goes to work. I do care that he has overseen the downgrading of his company’s watch movements.
@r2l100 I would much prefer he fixed the problems. If none of us cared about Panerai, we would not be commenting. I for one, don’t want them to go out of business. I want them to improve, and do better.
@r2l100 "If you got a problem with their product there is no need to be an upset paying customer" You don't address the problem of being an upset ALREADY PAID customer - i.e. someone who has paid for a non-waterproof dive watch with down-graded movement and misleading calibre name, who would dearly love not to be a paying customer, but is stuck with a heavily depreciated, difficult to sell piece of tat instead of a luxury watch because of the company's concerted efforts to mislead their customers. How do you think that customer feels when a fellow Richemont Group employee lobs soft-ball question after soft-ball question to the CEO of the Richemont Group company that did them out of a serious chunk of their hard-earned cash ? RUclips rules require disclosure of paid ads / sponsorship, but this interview is not strictly "paid-for" so it's another case of Richemont Group laughing at its customers / consumers - "we've found a loophole, so suck it !"
@r2l100 How does anyone properly research if a limited edition watch with a solid back has a properly decorated movement or a cheap base ETA before buying it (Brooklyn Edition) ? You are asking an impossible standard of care from the consumer instead of a basic standard of not being a lying scumbag from the company. If you can't feel empathy for someone who gets swindled, then that says a lot more about you than it does about the swindler, but that is far from the point of my comment. And my point was that here is an opportunity for the CEO to explain / apologise / promise to do better, and it was not taken because the interviewer had an undisclosed financial relationship with the company being interviewed. Not disclosing that relationship is more of the same dishonest and misleading BS. Look elsewhere in these comments for posts praising Panerai for their open-ness and transparency based on this interview because the posters have not been made aware of all the company's recent controversies. But sure, blame the new customer for not carrying a loupe, roll of watchmakers tools, mass spectrometer and gas chromatograph when buying a watch from a luxury brand's boutique. Stupid fool - he really deserves to be swindled out of thousands of dollars. What was he thinking - buying a watch without first graduating from an approved school of horology ?
Watchfinder Co. and Panerai are both part of the Richemont group, so unless somebody is plotting an internal revolt against the brand and/or the Richemont group, it is quite unlikely they will give such spicy interview. Matter of fact, I bet 99% of watch channels will not confront a CEO in such manner in their interviews; it's all about building relationship.
That’s what I mean! It’s all a scam. You want truth? The brand is CRAP. They have downgraded their movement. They removed hacking seconds. They use a $5 Richmond movement in almost all the duo and submersibles… they don’t even finish the movements anymore. They raised prices. Their quality is bad. Really bad. Snap in case backs. 100m water resistance. They even said by 2025 all 316L steel will be 100% recycled “e steel” aka garbage. Luxury products and recycled don’t go .. they are woke and will go broke
“Innovation is NOT at its best” when it means taking cheap recycled materials and selling them at a premium (marketing gimmick) along with cheaper finished movements. As they cannot innovate in movements and design, they focus on commoditising the brand to a point when the Frankenstein watch makers will applaud and thank them f9r making their life easy. I am really sorry to say that I will not buy any new Panerai models, but will consider old classics to add to my collection…..maybe 🤔
Interesting, but you greatly missed the opportunity to do some serious questions the like of: - WTF were you thinking producing a 30m water resistant line of watches?? - WTF were you thinking with the in-house fraud of the ETA 2894-2 "in house P.9200"?? First 2 that came to mind.
@ManfromJapan12 30 and 50m watches are more dress watches. The ETA movement is a common base movement many watch companies use them make adjustments to call there own there for in-house.
@@MES1808NYCI agree with you regarding posting fakes. The social media account is most likely not run by a specialist or even a watchmaker of the brand, but a mid-twenty-year-old who just switched from another company doing social media stuff. We should cool down with this issue.
I would like to see Panerai come up with means both hardware and software to avoid their watches being easily copied. I think that’s important because they’re elemental design is crucial, but the copying industry also benefits.
@@31hallite Of course you are right, but I hear that it is hurting them (Panerai) more than others, with the watches untradeable without box and papers.
Overpriced, lacking value innovation and losing their brand focus are just few things that the company is now doing under this CEO and the Richemont umbrella. They got too greedy with this brand and that is how brands die!

After listening to this i finally figured out what has happened. With this CEO they went from a watch brand to a fashion brand that does not care about watches.
@r2l100 This is not what I meant. I understand that they want and need to make a watch to please as much as wide of an audience. But my opinion is that they spend too much time on marketing a watch that is not what they were selling anymore. If you constantly say what heritage you have and that you are a dive watch company you should make a watch that reflects that. Instead, they were selling stories but downgrading the watch and service. At the same time raising the prices. In my local AD, I have the option of buying a Submariner and a Panerai at the same price point. What do you think I will choose? Or buying a Seiko for 400€ that outperforms a 9000€ Panerai any day of the week in build quality, accuracy,... They simply destroyed a brand. And to have an interview from Watchfinder and not raise any of these questions makes you think twice about what was Watcfinder doing here. A stunt comercial.
Great discussion, however I have to say I am surprised to learn that Panerai is listening to their Paneristi following. Are Paneristi truly telling the CEO and his entourage to “cheapen” their movement finishing? to issue one after another boring limited editions? to focus on new materials and recycling at premiums? As a Panerai fan and owner (Luminor 8 days Monopulasante which I love) I am steadily losing trust in the brand. Their customer service support is just awful. Reliability is not great (chrono repair required after one year). I do agree with the CEO that he is taking risks, but for me they are going in the wrong direction and will steadily lose their raison d’etre. I’m sure the CEO will respectfully disagree as they continue to pursue their direction which is at a tangent to the core of Panerai 😢
Totally agree Pablo! Love mine and its keeping perfect time. Not a Paneristi, but genuinely love watches. But: the latest changes to lower quality movements is not luxury but cheap. Hope they will reconsider their approach and really go back to precision and design
Richemont bought them in 1997 as the brand was turning into THE watch to have, with huge tail winds from Hollywood (Stallone, Schwarzenegger, etc). I still remember meeting a big tech exec in the mid-aughts, complimenting him on his Panerai, and his first words were, "Thanks, you know it's watch the Italian seals use!" And then Panerai didn't do anything to move beyond their big tool-chic look into elegant-chic like Rolex and others did, yet they've continued to raise their prices as if they play in that space when they don't. This laziness is likely what led to their new CEO hired last year, former Roger Dubuis CEO Jean-Marc Pontroué. At the beginning of this year, he's tried to pivot Panerai into both new materials paired with experiences (the sailing yacht, the South Pacific thing, etc). And IMO, their new materials are super cool and their watches look great ... for $5k or less. Panerai is thinking they can re-justify their price points by teaming millennial-beloved experiences with their new look, but I don't think it's going to work. If they wanted to add experiences it should be factory delivery of your watch, meet the craftspeople, etc - a cool diving trip doesn't justify a $20k watch. I can buy a bracelet made by a local for $5 and it'll remind me more of the trip than a Panerai. Just my 2 cents. Plus they're still just WAY WAY too big. sure, offer some bigs, but drop to 44 and 42 already. So, yeah, they're in big trouble, and the new CEO is trying for revival with experiences, but I think only significant price drops combined with low volumes and HQ events to drive engagement will work. Here's an example - a watch at $5K in 42 or 44mm sells a metric crap-ton, but on the other hand a $21k and 47mm! Who the feck is going to buy that? If that's the plan, they're dead!!
They're clearly trying to be a lower volume/higher profit brand and there's nothing wrong with that strategy ... so long as the quality of the product supports it.
I’m sorry, but the Panerai brand has become a joke, in comparison with what it was formerly. Notwithstanding, the CEO has an interest in using misdirection when talking about the brand. No worries - but also no reason why any of us should hold back in spotlighting everything that’s become deceptive and shabby about the brand. As for Watchfinder - well, this was basically an indirect paid advert for Panerai. Can’t blame them for feeding into advertising, but it would be silly not to hold them accountable for the deception, when that’s what they’re edging up to.
That means, If they have the chance to interview a CEO of Breitling, Tag Heuer, Piaget, Rolex, Omega or any other brand, they should say no, cause it is advertisement? Stupid, sorry....
I just got a Panerai 1314. It is my first one. It doesn't have an open case back and an in house movement that doesn't hack 🙄🤦♂️. With that being said, I absolutely love the damn watch. That white dial is simply beautiful. Buy what you want and don't give any sh** about what people think...😉
@r2l100 You are absolutely right lol. I thought about the Submersible as well, but I already have a couple of divers, so I wanted something a little bit different. Once you extend the warranty is 8 years. That is a lot. I would think that cover issues like the one you are referring to.
I bought a 1314 in February. I absolutely love it! So clean and brilliant looking. And offers incredible options for straps, be it either from Panerai or other artisans. I own a Breitling diver, but am quite interested in a submersible. 8 year warranty gives me assurance they stand behind their movements....
I always loved Panerai but please stop destroying the brand. Stop downgrading movements while hiding them, stop making diver watches without a screw back case, stop selling ETA - DD movements while lying and saying ‘Panerai in house movement’. People will get tired from all this.
Just bought my first Panerai, it’s an entry level. But this is marketing drivel and addresses none of the issues, and I missed the bombshell. He spent more time talking about Panerai fans than Panerai watches.
we want an explanation about the Brooklyn bridge scandal and the model P 9200 manufacture caliber where Panerai stated that it is manufacture and the ETA stamp is stamped on the movement?????
Panerai has disappointed me. I grew fond of the Carbotech last year, and now I just don’t like the brand. Bad movements, bad finishing, Brooklyn Bridge edition, and let’s not even get started about them posting super fakes on their main Instagram account…
I bought a Pam422 last November directly from Panerai. The purchase experience was awful. I bought and paid in full for the watch and was told it didn't pass inspection ? They offered my money back , or buy a different model. I was told the 422 was no longer available ? Then a few weeks later Panerai found me another 422. Less than 6 months later the hour hand had a mind of it's own and would not adjust correctly with the second hand ? The seconds hand would be off as much as 30 seconds in less than a day. I was told by Panerai that I shocked the watch. Which is untrue. I only wore it once or twice a week and was very careful with it. It has been at the Panerai warranty center in Texas since late April. It was covered under warranty. To say the least I am not happy with my 1st Panerai purchase. The 422 is still available for purchase on Panerai's website? I was told it stopped production in 2019 of the 422 by Panerai and I was lucky to get one ? This was a bucket list item I have wanted for years. Now I wish I wasn't so lucky. I will not buy another Panerai.
Funny... !! I Bought a Gruppo Gamma Vanguard , a Panerai knock off over 4 years ago with a ETA movement and it's still working perfectly.... I bought a Panerai thinking buying what I thought was the best... ! A heritage , in house movement, I agree with the person responding.... I spent 10grand on a watch that broke in less than 6 months. ?!!
I bought my 372 about 3 years ago from Panerai. Great customer service. Watch works perfectly as it should and I wear it nearly every day. It knocked my Rolex back into the safe. This is my experience.
@@4120306 hello , no dis respect , but I noticed you replied to my post to say you had a great experience with Panerai a few years ago.... Well , I didn't a few months ago ?! How is this relevant to my experience ? I still don't have my 10k watch back from being fixed ??? It's been 5 weeks.....
I dont want to hear anything except how you are going to fix what you have done. You have downgraded movements and kept them under the same reference number. Why some of your lines are "dive style" while they have 3atm or 5atm. Or out right lying about movement finishes that are hidden behind case backs. These criticisms come to you because people love the brand and want you to succeed and you're failing them. Do better.....you should want to do better. It shows a lack integrity and authenticity to your profession to allow these simple things to go on. I want to buy more Panerai but right now, it doesn't look like I will be. Im not alone
At this point in time I don't know why they don't just let the name die and completely rebrand the company. They have utterly destroyed what made Panerai so great in the first place. Monty had a lot to answer for, pity he can't now.
The modern Panerai brand is a joke. So many lies made in order to support a fake story. The vintage Panerais are very interesting and relevant watches, but that space has been infiltrated by fakes (so much, the current CEO has been inadvertently liking pictures of fake watches on Instagram!). They could run this brand much differently and more honestly, but they're doubling down on their "luxury" strategy...
Bring back on the base models (PAM01084) the sandwich dial, 200M RW and a display back. That's what we really want. A data base where owners could register their watches, would help your used market which in turn would give buys the confidence to buy into the brand. Due to the fakes many buyers are scared to buy the brand on the pre owned market, which seriously effects your new watch sales, just due to general lack of desirability for the brand. No one wants a watch they can't resell if they need too.
I’m done with Panerai. I love the aesthetic & the heritage but it hate the shit they put out. I bought one of my dream watches, a 111. As much as I love it - it is a pretty substantial disappointment compared to other watches as this price point. I want to buy a Radiomir, just a basic Radiomir with wire lugs & the onion crown… but I cant bring myself to spend $6000 on a 763. It’s just not worth it. This shit can’t hold a candle to my AquaTerra or JLC reverso classic Now, a used Pam380 for $2,900 - that’s a bit more like it.
Something makes me think watchfinder knew the backlash this interview would get… well played if it’s to bring attention to the discontent of the brand from watch consumers
I used to watch your videos on Watchfinder but after this s.... interview where you did not even try to reveal the problems that they have and disuse them, I do not believe that I will anymore. A brand that is downgrading its products and believes that the customers are idiots and that they will buy anything that they throw at them.
I used to own a Pam1499 Luminor white dial. I liked the asthetics of the watch. However the in-house movement (9100 I recall). Was frankly poor. My watchmaker tried to regulate it twice, as from new it was -8 seconds a day. He eventually got it to -4 Odd. But it could never hold anything remotely plus. I now have Omega coaxials. They are fantastic and light years ahead. All I read now is bad things about the finishing and the poor movements still... E.G losing features etc. So whilst I liked the style. I won't go back. The CEO doesn't seem to have sorted that aspect even now. A shame....
Is he the guy who introduced Luminor Due, which pretty much prompted the collapse of the Panerai image and brough the resale value down with it? If so, I have very little hope for his future ideas.
Panerai used to have some great references like the 233, 190,197 and 422 etc but they have definitely gone downhill and look overpriced. I was a big fan for many yesrs but trying to sell one privately Is nigh on impossible even at 50% of retail
Don’t tell me the Paneristi didn’t tell you that releasing the Luminor due with 30m water resistance was a great idea?!?!?! That’s what sunk the brand and I still love it, but you destroyed it
Until the problem of the German guy doesn't get solved, I won't buy a Panerai. How Panerai has handled the case is beyond ridiculous. It damaged the brand a lot already.
I have one for the same reason...but the absence of hacking in the movement is infuriating for something that comes standard in the cheapest far Eastern countries products and at this price point. Don't get me wrong, I brought it with my heart...but it is my last until things like this are addressed.
Why does the CEO (or his assistant) consistently like fake Panerai watches on Instagram? Is cheapens the brand. If the CEO can’t even tell the difference, why not just buy fakes?
It's not cheaper to make things out of recycled materials. In fact it actually cost more since you'd have to add more process into the production. If it was cheaper, cheap brand would use 100% recycled materials already.
Dreadful case finishing quality, downgrading movements, recycled garbage steel, poor boxes, less tough than a Seiko SKX, 30m water resistance at extortion level price points. Welcome to Panerai.
It's funny how Watchfinder does not like the critical comments, only the ones that are positive and support their view. They probably received money from Panerai for this 38-minute advert. It's a shame. You guys are becoming less and less objective.
@@vianouche1 I'm not sure, but you can see what comments they gave a like and what comments didn't receive a like. In other words: the critical comments are ignored, the positive ones are acknowledged.
@@vianouche1 Notice how they pinned their own comment praising this guy for the interview and asking who next until it started to attract some backlash comments of its own so they un-pinned it to no longer be the first comment on the page ? It's petty and childish, but so on-brand... Grow a pair and take your lumps when you make a mistake - WatchFinder and Panerai both.
It took me many years to buy a panerai back then due to its rich history and the paneristis that supports the brand. Before Richemont took over, you may have a lot of money but you may not be able to buy yr dream pam if you have no connections in the paneristi community. I am talking about those prevendome and up to pam 382 (have stoppped looking beyond 382). Disappointed with how it turned out after Richemont took over but i really hoped things will turn around for Panerai in the future. Thank you for the video.
Did you guys watch the Miami GP Grid walk? Pharrell Williams was there with Richard Mille, he said he loves Ferrari cars and that Lewis is his brother. Again, Pharrell was there with Richard Mille, so that we always know what time it is and that he loves Ferrari cars but Lewis is his brother.
Panerai “was” an Italian company. Until they get an Italian CEO they will continue to suffer. There is a very simple fix to start to rebuild this company but it starts with an Italian at the helm.
I don't know why all the hate, I own four and love them all, very accurate and comfortable to wear. At least least they are different. So many watches look the same now. That's why I love Panerai and would buy another one.
What I find odd is the approach of corner cutting. A £6100 watch is not at a level where I would expect this. The sandwich dial has been reintroduced on the 8 day model, but at the expense of the exhibition case back. Normally you see progression over the years when looking at Omega and Rolex for example. Solid bracelets, milled clasps, sapphire crystals, and: greatly improved movements. I think this might be the only brand that has gone from COSC certified (Unitas movement in the PAM111) to non certified.
I appreciate this is a new show which STILL doesn't have a name after 5 months, but this interview was pretty uninteresting. There wasn't much meaningful conversation about watches, it was just brand talk and the day in the life of a CEO. I don't think I heard one movement number or model number. Perhaps you should have asked the audience to post their questions before the interview. Maybe you wanted to do that or talk about different things, but you were restricted from talking about certain topics
I'm sorry, panerai totally cheapened the brand. The new business model for panerai is to say "F you" to the watch enthusiasts and rely on social media and influencers to market the new line of watches to folks who are not savvy with watches. It was absolutely disgusting to hear the CEO speaking so fraudulently about taking input from the enthusiasts of the brand. Shame on watchfinder for putting out a puff piece like this. I truly hope you won't be doing something like this again. If you are, go ahead and let it be a live stream so that enthusiasts can engage with CEO's that claim to have, and are comfortable with dialogue with enthusiasts.
The problem generally are "enthusiasts" in any category are generally aholes that like to come on and bash, while telling people in the companies themselves that they know less than the enthusiast window lickers. That's why most don't do it -- there's zero upside.
Love love love my 1940 case Pam512. Great movement. svelte case. 100mm water resistance. No date. Sandwich dial. Its perfect. And makes the entire Due line look stupid.
Panerai did some really questionable things like putting bone stock undecorated movements in "special" watches. They also are so incredibly easy to fake for many models that their own boutiques wont even take one on trade. Finally, they got way way too popular for their own good at one point about 20 years ago. Think Rolex now, and boxed themselves in with a new model every 5 seconds. That said, they ARE good watches if you like that design and folks that are into watches will almost always have one either in their watch box, or that they fondly remember. They're good watches. They just got overhyped. Now the issue with the due is that their entire history is DIVE WATCHES. A 30mm dive watch is.... silly.@@martinross1140
I hate excess packaging which it prevalent in the luxury goods industry. I love simple elegant packaging the can be recycled or re-used in some way. For instance: wrapping an item in fabric that can then be used as a handkerchief ot a skarf. Another idea: a box that becomes a soft lightweight travel pouch by removing cardboard from inside. How about a shopping bag that turns into an insulated lunch bag you can take to work? Why give people rubbish along with your beautiful product? Make sure everything the customer leaves with is useful.
love my panerai and would wear it every day if I could. Appreciate this brand has always been a bit love or hate. But if not for you, buy something else. I have had no issues with mines which is just coming up to a year old (Pam-1084). Fantastic quality, great look and will always get noticed on your wrist. Would recommend to anyone to buy one if the looks for you. I don’t really go for a watch due to the mechanism. My other watches, some more expensive some cheaper tell the time and look good that’s all I bother about.
@@seanlingham5254 For a couple of reasons. First, there may be people, men and women, who want a smaller watch, and they shouldn't have to settle for less water resistance. The other is that a 50m water resistance would be more congruent with a brand whose heritage is entirely built on being used in the water. It doesn't make sense from a branding perspective to have a Luminor watch, even a dressy one, with the same water resistance as a JLC Reverso.
@@LuisOrtizMBA That's your opinion. However, what i see is different. That Due, especially in gold with MOP dial is super popular in the Chinese market among female buyers. Additionally, there is a 40 mm option for a Luminor Marina with 300m WR in black, blue and white dial. I'm all for giving a company flak for 'downgrading' movements but i definitely think it's unfair if they offer you the watch in 40 mm with WR (which is what people give them shit for with the Due or lack thereof). If you can't pull of a pretty standard 40 mm, then you need a Swatch.

- WTF were you thinking with the in-house fraud of the ETA 2894-2 "in house P.9200"??
First 2 that came to mind.
Spot on
@ManfromJapan12 30 and 50m watches are more dress watches.
The ETA movement is a common base movement many watch companies use them make adjustments to call there own there for in-house.
I love a company that post replicas of its own product! Also thank you for removing hacking hands for the premium.
@@MES1808NYCI agree with you regarding posting fakes. The social media account is most likely not run by a specialist or even a watchmaker of the brand, but a mid-twenty-year-old who just switched from another company doing social media stuff. We should cool down with this issue.
It's really nice to have some guests.
That is something to continue...
As a proud Paneristi, I'd love it if the company's CEO would stop liking fake Panerai photos online (Erwan Grey, etc)
I would like to see Panerai come up with means both hardware and software to avoid their watches being easily copied. I think that’s important because they’re elemental design is crucial, but the copying industry also benefits.
@@light1531 all watches are copied
@@31hallite Of course you are right, but I hear that it is hurting them (Panerai) more than others, with the watches untradeable without box and papers.
Overpriced, lacking value innovation and losing their brand focus are just few things that the company is now doing under this CEO and the Richemont umbrella. They got too greedy with this brand and that is how brands die!
How is it overpriced. There's nothing else quite like it! Please tell me about this other brand that matches Panarai for less.

Totally
Yes this CEO is a moron. Destroyed the entire brand.
He's turning Panerai into a fashion brand!
I get my history of Panerai from Jose Pereztroika thank you very much.
Their direction is to increase profit while making the product cheaper and easier to make. They don't care about quality just profit.
It's not even cheapening their movement finishing, it's not finishing at all
Oh nooooo it rained, my ultimate dive watch died. At least the basic movement can be fixed at my supermarket watch repair shop
If that's the plan, they're dead!!
could you go to Firenze and Genève to advise us? Panerai team.
They're clearly trying to be a lower volume/higher profit brand and there's nothing wrong with that strategy ... so long as the quality of the product supports it.
Agree. My other half has a limited edition militare and a 111 and they’re beautiful watches but not worth anything over 5 grand.
Isn't Panerai the company with the 30 meter dive watch😂
It’s for diving in swamps.
I have taken my $300 Citizen watch bought in the 80s to 40 meters and did not think much about it. A 30 meter dive watch is lying.
You are getting confused 30 bar is 300m
@@31halliteNo, he means the Luminor Due line with its 30 meter (3 ATM) „dive“ watches…
Watchfinder is owned by Richemont now so they probably didn't even get paid so well, just a normal days work.
Name a more mismanaged luxury watch brand than Panerai. I’ll wait.

I own four and love them all and very accurate
I always loved Panerai but please stop destroying the brand. Stop downgrading movements while hiding them, stop making diver watches without a screw back case, stop selling ETA - DD movements while lying and saying ‘Panerai in house movement’. People will get tired from all this.
As I have said many watch makers use ETA movement, they make changes to these movements and call them there own, a lot of luxury watches do this.
Just bought my first Panerai, it’s an entry level. But this is marketing drivel and addresses none of the issues, and I missed the bombshell. He spent more time talking about Panerai fans than Panerai watches.
He is talking about himself you mean
we want an explanation about the Brooklyn bridge scandal and the model P 9200 manufacture caliber where Panerai stated that it is manufacture and the ETA stamp is stamped on the movement?????
Just buy a $400 super clone which is 99% identical.
What can I say... Welcome to Panerai, Seiko SKX finishing at astronomical prices minus any SKX toughness.
Funny...
Everubody is like you. I wonder in which world this guy lives. I wanted to buy a Panerai but not with this douche at the head of the brand.
Why the bloody heck does this bloke sound like the Urban Gentry lad?
Yeah, utter self-centered and shameless
So this is the guy to blame for fall of quality?
It’s depressing.
Not if he's only been there for 4 years
I’m done with Panerai.
This shit can’t hold a candle to my AquaTerra or JLC reverso classic
Now, a used Pam380 for $2,900 - that’s a bit more like it.
Panerai making accurate watch movements would be a welcomed reveal.
A shame....
I was not a fan of Panerai before listening to this video. I like Panerai even less now.
Lucky we have other experts like Perezscope that shine a real light on this brand and what they have truly become.
Is he the guy who introduced Luminor Due, which pretty much prompted the collapse of the Panerai image and brough the resale value down with it? If so, I have very little hope for his future ideas.
It's still a surprise to me that it this not happened yet
Panerai used to have some great references like the 233, 190,197 and 422 etc but they have definitely gone downhill and look overpriced. I was a big fan for many yesrs but trying to sell one privately Is nigh on impossible even at 50% of retail
Oversized and too thick and quit the crappy duo 30m line. If Rolex can do 100meters in a thin watch so should panerai
Don’t tell me the Paneristi didn’t tell you that releasing the Luminor due with 30m water resistance was a great idea?!?!?! That’s what sunk the brand and I still love it, but you destroyed it

I used to really like this channel.
I love the new Quaranta. It’s a size that would work on my wrist and I hope to pull the trigger on one some day.
I like that it's only audio, and the video is with Panerai watches. I like that. Awesome!
Very disturbing misrepresentation and paid blindness here. As an owner of Panerais, I’m no longer interested in current or future models. Great job 👎
How come every time there’s an “upgrade” it’s a downgrade?
I will say it’s a little off putting to make things cheaper under the guise of sustainability.

Panerai “was” an Italian company. Until they get an Italian CEO they will continue to suffer. There is a very simple fix to start to rebuild this company but it starts with an Italian at the helm.

Would not wear a new panerai if i got it for free, thank you perezcope for shining light on this ongoing scam.
Great podcast…Pam 986 is one of my favorite watches.
Finally a nice “no second” panerai classic model. Hopefully 42mm
You should do a video on RGM watches. I would love to see your opinion on their finishing and movements.

My luxury watches are based on favorite movies, so I loved the Transporter series, so got interested in Panerai, I like this interview! Thanks!
You're their target market
Love love love my 1940 case Pam512. Great movement. svelte case. 100mm water resistance. No date. Sandwich dial. Its perfect. And makes the entire Due line look stupid.
I think the entire Due line doesn’t need any help to look stupid.
The Duo line is something for people who want to get into the brand but have a smaller wrist? Help me understand why people hate the brand

I have to be honest as I am a big fan of your work. This was a Richmond sales and marketing video. And I didn’t like it at all. Sorry
Please make the Due 100m water resistant (or at least 50m)
But why? It's a 38 mm dress watch. There is a 40 mm Luminor Marina in 3 dial colors that has the same WR as the 44 mm one.
Is it really a bombshell or is it just another boring Panerai with a progressively worse movement inside?
Panerai has become a fashion Brand and is downgrading the Watches more and more. I like the Design of the New Quaranta, but the decoration of the movememt missing hacking seconds and top promoting this as a Feature, what a joke
