It was impossible with a weather event of this sheer size and scale to guess 100% correctly where it’s safe and where is not safe. Do you comprehend the meaning of the word ‘unprecedented’? It means never before. Leadership did their utmost, with the information they had. They have performed above-and-beyond the call of duty: before, during and now afterwards. And this ‘after’ period is going to last much, *much* longer than the storm lasted; Months. Years, most likely. Incomprehensible to me, the scale of this destruction.
so are they gonna help the people get out or they just gonna keep riding by on the boats looking at them, talking abouts " These people" like they far removed ... I hope they went back to get the people on them boats they riding on
So you just watched video of him rescuing a child and all you can do is criticize? If you're not out there on a boat yourself maybe you should just keep your opinion to yourself.
That was horrible, it felt so inhuman watching... Riding by blasting how much pity she had for them through the mic as they carry their only belongings over their heads walking through 4 ft of water... Treating them like a sideshow... Horrible
@@LL-bl8hd.. It's one thing to show footage of damage and do nothing, it's another when you video human beings trying to keep from dropping their only belongings in 4 ft of water, talking about how much you pity them through a mic as you cruise by. One doesn't negate the other. Turn the camera away if you can't help, they aren't a sideshow
He tried to go home AFTER the storm and underestimated the depth of the water and his swimming ability. The sheriff said that the people that evacuated (mandatory) also came to _their area_ They did not expect to get so much water (it likely was not from the surge they feared so much but from heavy rainfall that they could not drain). So the boy expected he could go home (maybe getting wet when wading through) and that the apartment would be fine. It seems on his way home the water obstructed his way and he thought he could wade or swim through. Not a good idea (bacteria, alligators, debris hitting him). And a LOT of African American children do not know how to swim (or not well). Their parents cannot teach them (they also have never learned). When you look at children drowning, the number is much higher for AA kids. Even though the white families have the pools (that are a potential risk you only have to be negligent for a few minutes. Children drown fast and silently.) Not clear whether his parents allowed him and he was the first pioneer, whether he decided on his own to walk home, or whether the adults had stayed back IN the apartment and only the kids were at an even safer location. This was not a mandatory evacuation zone - if they lived first floor or above they likely had no water in the apartment. The water seems to be shallow in many places, even cars can drive. They said that the water will only slowly disappear. - And a lot of the surfaces are sealed off, so no soaking into soil or water tables.
It's fairly obvious the poor would face more devastation. Most funding for infrastructure always goes to the rich. That's how corrupt government policy is. But don't you worry poor and middle class, life isn't over. These wealthy people will have their day. Mark my words. It's a promise.
Can you imagine being stuck helpless in a wheelchair as the water rises around you? What a nightmare! Thank goodness for these Rescue Workers!!!
My heart goes to these poor residents, my ultimate admiration and gratitude to the responders. ❤❤❤❤
Great reporting 🎉
Heartbreak 😢
Feeling blessed. Most beautiful day since April. Power out everywhere. We have standby generator, so neighbors can have coffee. Spaghetti for dinner.
The evacuation zones need to be revised! These people should not have been told they were safe there!

what about alligators ?
My question is why was a 14 year-old child left alone during a hurricane? Just craziness.
My question is why do uninformed people just make random assumptions regarding situations they know absolutely nothing about?
Maybe his parents washed away. 😟
@@robertpalmer3166 That's a valid question wym?
