    I am recovering from surgery and watching all of the videos from this doctor and they are all so helpful. I am on day five of recovery and have quite a bit of swelling and bruising but I am improving. These videos are giving me a lot of hope and encouragement.

    • @donnalee2310
      @donnalee2310 2 года назад

      @@SarahJBowditch Well Sarah, my guess is that you will look better in a week. Every person’s body heals differently so it’s hard to compare. Also depends on what procedures you had done. You know, there are all these people on the Internet that say at one week they were back at work and completely healed! That doesn’t happen to everyone! Don’t know if it helped or not but I took bromelian and arnica for a long time. I was not tremendously swollen or bruised but definitely had both. I did not think it looked that bad but at 2 weeks, my husband & daughter both said they didn’t recognize me so…it takes some time. I didn’t go around other people until @ 3 weeks. I still had some light bruising & discoloration & weird bumps but it was towards the hairline & I was able to cover with my hair. The swelling (lumps) in my neck took the longest to go away. Again, thankfully I had let my hair grow long. I was getting compliments at 4 weeks. I had not seen a lot of people because of the lockdown and I lost weight during that time so people tended to think it was because of my weight loss! I wasn’t trying to hide the fact I had work done but it’s a hassle to explain everything so I just went with it. It will keep improving but it takes time & it defitely takes patience. At 4 weeks - it was good. At 6 weeks - I was happy, At 3 months - very happy. So I hate to tell you but 5 days is not very long in this process. Just do everything your doctor recommends including sleeping with head elevated during sleep. No strenuous exercise or bending etc. Let me know how your progress goes! I’m at 9 months now & everyone including my family has forgotten I even had it done. People adjust & seem to think this is how you always looked. I even have to remind myself sometimes - those saggy eyelids are gone, those horrible bags under my eyes are gone, I no longer have to tape extra skin on my neck back lol - so glad to be done with that! I’m still not perfect (fine lines here and there) but I’m SO improved! So take heart & be patient!

    I was told two weeks! For a mid & lower lift with double chin lift. NO! I’m currently on 2 1/2 weeks. I had my neck down too much… That created drama. Dr. Joe’s advice helped. I got the pump up neck thing. It’s a good thing I have 4 weeks free to recover.

    The thing is lol... I'm wondering why this patient isn't talking about the numbness or tightness that occurs with this type of procedure? I'm one week out from my procedure and completely bruised still on my neck and face , it's getting better, but I also can't move my head real well because of the numbness and tightness. I was also told I should do no head turning, bending, lifting, exercising, ect for two weeks. Actually exercising is 6 weeks. So basically this woman had all her feeling in her face and neck? I find that hard to believe. All these youtube videos from several doctors channels are not showing the full behind the scenes realities of this procedure. Me personally I was nauseated after surgery and felt like death from anesthesia. I've been completely exusted as well. You have to clean your incisions 2 to 3 times a day, and your going to need help doing this seeing as you can't see behind your head or ears. You also need to be sure you have someone to help you around the house with chores and also errands. The wrap you have to wear is uncomfortable and hot, also making it hard to wear eye glasses. Sleeping is hard because of the numbness and tightness, and because of the slight pain you're experiencing. It's really a lot to go through and something I would not do again. The results are great, but myself I don't care for the numbness and tightness.

      You are correct kim. But some patients just do way better than others initially. A facelift is a big surgery and patients should plan accordingly. Perhaps she did not complain because she was told what to expect before surgery. I have many newer YT videos of patients after facelift. Thanks for watching.

    • @Sparkle835
      @Sparkle835 2 года назад

      Hi Kim, I had my surgery 7 days ago. If your doctor says it's okay, I highly recommend using an OTC product called BIO OIL on uncomfortably hot, swollen, bruised and/or tight skin. You can get BIO OIL at any drugstore, Target, Walmart, etc. It's the only product that actually works to sooth angry skin. That said, I could not have done this without the help and continual support of my husband. I was also fortunate to find an excellent surgeon in upstate NY just 30 min from my home. This is indeed NOT a procedure to take lightly. Proceed with caution. Do tons of research. Read the comments from real people, like Kim and me, who have had it done.
      Kim, if you decide to try the BIO OIL, I'd love to know if it works for you as well as it does for me. BEST wishes 🌻

      Thank you both for sharing the realities of the surgery, this is the added information I want to hear. How are you doing now? Tightness, numbness, bruising, general outcome? Very important! The scar oil is key too. The scars around the ears are worrisome; Dr Niamtu’s are impressive. You also bring up another good point I’ve been thinking about and that’s location. I would most likely have to travel as I’m just not sure about the PS’s in my area for this. More research. It’s one thing to get a place for several weeks but what about a caregiver, if needed. Everything makes it more difficult when it’s far away. There are so many factors.

    Hello, Dr. Niamtu. I love your style, work ethic and phenomenal results. I notice that other surgeons oftentimes run the incision along the inside of the tragus, I would assume to minimize visible scarring. Do you feel that it doesn’t ultimately make much of a difference once everything is healed or is this simply preference on the part of the surgeon?

    • @jniamtuiii
      @jniamtuiii  3 года назад +2

      I have done hundreds both ways and I get better results in front of the tragus. The tragus can become very deformed with posterior incisions. Although not common, it will never happen with the pretragal route. I do what works best in my hands. Thanks for watching :)

    Dr thank u for these amazing videos. I had at facelift 6 months ago. I am 40 yrs old. It was not so much to get rid of any wrinkles but to lift the cheek, get rid of jowling and tighten the jawline, those were the goals. For about 3 weeks my jaw and lower face looked amazing so tight and a very nice V-line appearance. 2 months later it was all gone. It is almost like there was no facelift done. When I lay on my back and take a picture of myself everything looks nice and tight. When I stand up i can almost visually see over a minute or 2 my face start to sag. It is of course very upsetting that I can see the sagging happen in the mirror. It is almost like not enough sutures were used to suspend the lower face or maybe the face was pulled laterally without any vertical lift? the incisions are different than what you show in this video they are hidden in the tragus and go up into the temple behind the hairline. What do you think could have gone wrong :( Again thank you for sharing your knowledge.

    • @jniamtuiii
      @jniamtuiii  4 года назад +1

      Sorry to hear that, you need to discuss with your surgeon. The actual incision locations are less important and are surgeon preference. The incision location will not make the lift fall.

      I've had 2 ablative CO2 lasers, the first one a few years ago and took some good time to heal. On the 2nd, the doctor started applying PRP injections in the face right after the CO2 and the recovery was like day and night compared to the first CO2. I was full recovered in just 5 days when she used PRP, so I am a firm believer of PRP for wound healing, never had ACell though.

    I am on day 17 after my lower/mini (?) facelift. Not comprehensive at all. This was simply (ha) neck and jowls/marionette lines, etc. I have a chicken pox scar in the corner of my mouth and it is in the exact same spot, which is proof I didn’t have a comprehensive anything. I am really happy with my result already, the only thing bothering me now is the convex on my neck. I want it to suck up to nothing hanging at all and I wonder if I am expecting too much at day 17, so that is why I am watching and hoping this will improve by 6 weeks (definitely by 3 months) to the point where I am happy with it. :) I am in northern ca and I have a good surgeon.

I guess because I don’t have the gaping neck bands. My neck is smooth there, I just have the beginnings of hanging neck syndrome :), but the jowls and marionettes are terrible in bad light. My philosophy has been this: if I can see it in bad light - it’s there - and I will soon be able to see it in good light so now’s the time! So when that happened with bags, I jumped on the lower blepharoplasty and just had people tell me how great I look. Even my daughter, who knew I had the bleph done, said, “Ok, now what did you have done again? Because you just look great!” So since I am not a “filler” person - I just want to look good for my age, that’s all - I am only have the lower or “mini” lift tomorrow morning! I would like to start Xeomin since it’s not a “filler” and cleaner than Botox and call it done. Be grateful for this perk at 60 and go from there. :) I have been asking about a mini lift for 5 years and now finally, he’s said ok. Thank you for your amazing videos. It helps with my anxiety about the surgery. If I were in your city I would have been at your door one year ago.

      You need to have a talk with your surgeon. You have to let him or her know all of your problems

      @@enidluchetti3016 Please try an over-the-counter product called BIO OIL on any hot, swollen, bruised and/or tight skin. You can get BIO OIL at any drugstore. It will sooth and relax your skin until it calms down and heals. For your back, perhaps see a Chiropractor? Best wishes.

    Hmm 'age appropriate' a worry as I believe people should go back to the age they feel best at ..
    I had a doctor who thought he was doing age appropriate surgery because I was old and I am a size 0 but short and he filled my face with 75mls of fat and uneven left side was 1/3 bigger than right .
    With big lumps in my chin and he created joules...
    His defence was that oh I was old so the day after opp and for 15months after I looked 20yrs older than the photos taken the week before 😮

      Yes, I hear you. Experienced surgeons know what to do. A natural result is the most important thing.
