Agreed
This is the gold standard of a RUclips comment
Watching his videos feels like takin yourself 20 mins to make a cup of coffe with imported Colombian coffee , cinnamon, a touch of honey ,and some extra secret ingredient , on an expensive coffe machine , and some decoration with the cream.
Yes it’s still coffee , but you are making drinking coffee a whole soothing and enjoyable experience.
In simpler words , his videos are edited and presented on a very tasteful way
I use Paul’s voice to soothe my head as well as his playing
I was thinking exactly the same. Incredible, he's an artist.
This song really reminds me of American Football's first album. Very melancholic, very beautiful, makes you nostalgic for things you didn't even know you experienced.
you should listen to Owen, Mike Kinsella's side project
@@zxrudy It totally sounds like Owen / American Football, it's a lovely riff.
@@zxrudy I literally just commented how this sounds like Owen lol.
True!
Totally true, i thought the same!
1:23 While trying out the last bar of the riff, I accidentally hit the 7th fret harmonic on the 3rd string, which is still a D note. I think it sounds even more ethereal if you let it ring out!
That chord really tied the room together, man.
Yeah? Well, you know, that's just like uh, your opinion, man.
This isn't 'Namm Smokey, there are rules
I like your style dude.
Are these your guitar tabs, Larry?
It's my homework!
The riff is shining in all its splendor at 2:04. Those simple chords really makes it stand out. Love it!
Yeah and honestly the cadence going up to the C major instead of to the relative A minor sounds beautiful to me and then they never did it that way again.
This was the gold right here, actually sounded like a complete song. The rest is nice, technically complex, but the simple riff with the chords on the other guitar shone beautifully, I would’ve made an entire song around that alone.
I enjoyed the rhythm, the musicality but what I enjoyed most was the unedited video of a great guitarist working on a complex passage and realizing that my practice sessions of playing the same measures over and over again is normal, albeit with much simpler musical ideas 😊
It's easy to feel like you're just spinning your wheels and never going to get a piece up to speed. But it just takes repetition, slow tempos and a training of the brain sometimes to get it in the fingers. Thank you, Paul, for showing us that glimpse into your process.
This reminds me a lot of Timber Hearth, from the game Outter Wilds, where composer Andrew Prahlow also uses a funky custom tuning ; it's less mind boggling than your polyrhythm, but I think you'd like it :)
Outer Wilds spotted, like given. Have a good day.
I was thinking the same thing
My fellow Hearthians
I fell in love with this game. Bought it for €20 after looking for a chill game with nice relaxing art style. Boy did it take me by surprise. Id pay €100 just to be able to play it for the first time again
@@torchedkiwi1374 Who wouldn't ? *sigh*
Who says that the easy riffs can't have a little bit of difficulty as well haha. I thoroughly enjoy that riff, and of course your smooth breakdown of everything factoring into its magic. Always a great and informative video, Paul.
this guy
@@christopher-miles I know, he's everywhere, right? But by that logic I'm also everywhere...
@@andytheaardvark1 this guy, too!
@@christopher-miles Wait, actually? I feel like I'm getting a reality check
such an amazing riff man, this stuff better keep coming!!!
That's absolutely incredible, so creative and innovative. Sounds amazing.
Beautiful riff, I hope it grows into a full song!
This is the video style I’ve been waiting for from you since your last chord progression videos. Just awesome stuff that excites me
Wow, love the 5s. Excellent pattern.
It sounds beautifully optimistic and melancholic at the same time. Such a fantastic riff. Well done!
Always love hearing you explain and break it down for everyone to understand!
Can't wait to hear the full song. It's so so beautiful already
Looking forward to hearing the rest of the song. Good foundation with that riff.
Thanks, Paul! 🙏🏻🤍💛
That was really good. I enjoyed seeing how you worked through the challenge and produced something so inspiring. Thanks for sharing!
Wow, that riff is beautiful and so inspiring. I'm already excited to play through that melody and improvise on it.
Love this. These music writing vids are inspirational and fun to watch
Beautiful! Cheers Dave
Hearing this, there are no doubts the finished song will be absolutely beautiful. Great work!👏
Your channel is one of the best chord/riffs analyses I ever heard...Simple,very detailed and charming..Big thanks Paul.
It does make my heart tremble, you really did put your soul into this
You are amazing and inspiring! Thank you, Paul for making me smile more.
I love this kind of fly-on-the-ear glimpse into the creative process.
Fantastic and beyond inspiring, Paul. You push me to become a better player every time I tune in. Thank you
Thank you so much for sharing. You have a lovely day too!
Paul, this is a magnificent riff, it sounds so good.
Very nicely done
I’m in awe at the seeming simplicity yet complexity of the pattern, simply because of an off beat 😂. Crazy how little it takes to mess with the mind. Such a beautiful piece, Paul. This and your under the bridge cover are just so amazing, pls keep videos like this coming 🙏🏼
Would sound amazing on a twelve string. Orchestra in the background. Pure Heaven
Hurray! Been looking forward to your latest upload. Brilliant! X
Really inspiring to try this myself! A good challenge, and all the tabs and tips to learn it. Thanks man!
Thanks for the beautiful experience, Paul!
You never cease to amaze Paul. Great job.
Am I the only person that thought it sounded amazing as the simple version without the 16th note bass? Incredible
it sounds really cool the polyMETER makes it magical
Can't wait for the finished song. I sounds amazing. Trying to learn this myself whooaaa boi it is challenging. it will be a cool picking pattern to expand on. Thanks Paul.
God! That was beautiful to watch! What a beautiful vision of such a breathtaking sound!
Very cool
working on it. I broke it down in parts of 4 notes each including bass and learned the structure pretty fast. Now working on style.
Thanks a lot Paul.
Just wanted to thank you for challenging me to get better at guitar. I spent like 10 years stagnant with my playing, then comes along your video about playing Never Go Back Again and I'm hooked on learning. Never finger picked before, now I can finally say I know how to fingerpick, and pretty well too...thanks to you.
This is another great video/challenge that'll keep me busy for a good long while.
Still hope to eventually finish learning to play (and sing) Never Go Back again. I'll get there...eventually.
Thank you again good sir!
Hey Paul! Just wanted to say that I love this series of you breaking down riffs and you should continue doing it
Great demonstration on how tempo can make something that sounds great become magical
Lovely and mellow. Reminds me of "Angel's Flight" by Shadowfax from long ago.
This is a masterpiece, nice done!
You will forever be my favorite Brother!! Keep On!!
This has been super enjoyable to listen to and watch... I love this kind of stuff. It's also a super fun thing to see, because I tend to do these polyrythmic, really different picking patterns with strange chords naturally for practice. So it's fun to see another have fun, beautifully creating, well... beautiful pieces. ❤
beautiful riff... perfect as always, This is the specific style of Paul Davids 😍
Oh my ! this sounds so beautiful i agree !
This unlocked a core memory of the songs "Let Go" by Frou Frou and Noise Ratchet's "Away To The Heart". Great playing, Paul. Thanks for the video.
You are outstanding Paul.
I love that you showed us the whole process of learning ! Some people forget how much effort needs to be put into practice before getting some sweet riff
I like that you are willing to challenge yourself! Good job
It's everything Paul. It's from the cinematography to the concepts to the arrangements. But, above all is your involvement. It feels like I was there! The sound and it's presence. Just went from stressed to so much positive in only 10 mins. What you do is amazing man! Keep it going, ALWAYS.
Great riff paul loved it❤
I just wanna say thank you, Paul. Your videos are so soothing and have helped me through some of the darkest times in my life, helping me pick up a guitar without pressure and just play. You're so encouraging and positive, informative and inspiring. You make me feel like I can do it. Your videos are enriching for the soul, and healing for the spirit. It's like water in a desert some times, and little tunes like this are the reason I picked up the guitar in the first place: so that I have something to meditate on while trying to move forward from grief. Thank you. 🖤
Reminds me of a piece by The Cinematic Orchestra. Beautiful.
It's like a harmonic movement on the piano but arpeggiated on the guitar, excellent
Very cool man! Thanks for the great content!!
Some of those finger picking patterns that are not technically complicated are some of the most difficult brain benders I've ever had to learn
Beautiful !!
A really beautiful riff, a great video. I hope another Acoustic Adventure could be possibly on it's way!
Natural chorus at the end. Nice!
Always so passionate about music Paul's channel is a gift to us all
Humble and Cool as usual 👍
I have an Eastman, absolutely love it. Great riff.
Which Eastman is this ?
❤❤❤
While listening to it, i can hear bass, violin, light drums..ensembles ..wow genius brains you all have Paul Davids...
Your channel is literally ASMR for musicians/guitarists. Thank you for the great content, Paul.
💜
this is so beautiful! im gonna practice this when i get home
Love this. Great to see how much effort you had to put in to practice this. I think it is easy to watch RUclips and think that everything is played right first time
Yea but it’s not bro you and I know that 😂😂😂Brian Ireland 🇮🇪 take care
Wow. So, so good. Well done!
Very nice. Having music notation as well helps to get the brain around tricky timings. 9:37
Beautiful!
Beautiful, man- it's like you're starting from scratch all over again. As my mate used to say "it's good to get out of your comfort zone". Keep it comin'! Thanks.
Would love to see a finished version, magical riff ❤. Revisited this vid a few times
Super awesome riff, dudes! 🤩👌
I really need to learn that soon.
beautiful. That's really all that needs be said.
A classical guitarist friend of mine taught me a way to deal with complex picking patterns, it’s very simple but it works; just write down the pattern so you don’t get confused, then play only the picking on open strings until you get comfortable, and add the notes later. I do it all the time when dealing with these challenges and it just works if you focus
Inspiring riffage Paul! Cheers!!
legend... and in the end... both playing... awesome
Beautiful riff
Sounds beautiful
Beautiful tune
Sounds awesome.
Beautiful riff.
that sounds amazing❤🔥
Nice job guys!
It sounds AWESOME!
Love it!
last step - adding the 4ths - thats where the real challenge starts :) WOW, respect Mate!
Sounds amazing
Hey Paul it is SO cool to see you as a highly accomplished musician get so excited about a seemingly simple melody!👏😎. Keep up the inspirational work you are doing. Although I had been finger picking for 30 years, Your simple blues opened up Travis picking for me🙌👏🍾
Getting back to this melody This and so many other JM songs put into perspective what an incredibly talented composer and guitarist he is. His command of the instrument and of composition is incredible. He is not simply a pop/rock/blues star but a true musician in every sense. ( not to mention his lyrics and singing!)
That’s awesome. Quite reminiscent of the music in Outer Wilds.
Brilliant 🎸🎶
Beautiful song!!!
WoW!! Me encanta!!
Amazing!
Very good paul......sounds clean
Sounds beautiful Paul! This riff reminds me of 'Promise' by Ben Howard.
