DUDE! That was sick! Art of Dying is one of my all time favorite songs and you definitely killed it! I want to learn growling so bad but I'm too scared to fuck up my voice and there are no teachers in my area. May I ask how you learned to "sing" like Joe?
And definitely keep doing what you do you're very talented
First off thanks a lot for the kind words! You are wise to be careful about your voice, you don't want to hurt yourself. I've been practicing screaming on and off for 2-3 years so finding this technique was pretty much just trial and error until something stuck.
The way i scream is I strain my voice as if lifting something heavy, then I add some whisper/rhasp on top. Push the air out with your diaphragm, not your chest. Your shoulders shouldn't be moving too much while you scream. Do some stretches and warmups before practice and you should be golden. Just don't give up if it sounds bad, keep adjusting the technique and eventually you will find it!
