  • Join me on a delightful journey through the Texas Hill Country as I travel to the renowned Blue Bonnet Café in Marble Falls, Texas. It's a beautiful early spring day, and I'm in route to San Antonio to visit my sister and capture some stunning videos of the region. My nephew is also on his way back to Waco from San Antonio, making this the perfect spot for a family lunch meetup.
The Blue Bonnet Café, famous for its delicious pies, all-day breakfast, and comforting everyday food, has been a beloved institution since 1929. Despite its name, which references a bonnet rather than the state flower, the cafe's grounds are beautifully adorned with bluebonnets and other local flora.
Even arriving after 2 PM, we found a line out the door, a testament to the cafe's popularity. However, the efficient service and ample seating ensured a short wait. As we waited, we admired the memorabilia on the walls, showcasing the cafe's rich history, numerous awards, and visits from celebrities.
Once seated, we explored the extensive menu. Breakfast lovers can indulge in a variety of egg dishes, omelettes, hotcakes, and classic sides like biscuits and cinnamon rolls. The daily specials offer hearty options like meatloaf, chicken enchiladas, and St. Louis smoked ribs. The other side of the menu features sandwiches, Mexican dishes, milkshakes, and a variety of home-style meals, along with a kids' menu and a wide selection of sides.
For our meal, my nephew chose a ham, bacon, sausage, and cheddar cheese omelette. My sister and I both opted for the chicken livers with mashed potatoes and pinto beans. Everything was served with hot rolls and cornbread, which did not disappoint.
No visit to Blue Bonnet Café is complete without trying their famous pies. My nephew enjoyed a peanut butter pie, my sister savored a chocolate cream pie, and I relished a coconut meringue pie. Each one was a winner!
After our meal, we admired the cafe's landscaping and bid farewell to my nephew. My sister and I then continued our journey towards San Antonio, with plans to explore more of the Texas Hill Country, visit iconic sites, and of course, try out more local eateries.
Stay tuned for upcoming videos from this trip, and don't forget to subscribe and hit the notification bell to join me on more adventures. Thanks for watching!
