Thank you. I grew up in the days where a washing machine lasted 40 years and everything was built to last.
Well then they can't sell you a new one in 3 years. So they make it to break in 3 years now.
Well, if everything was built to last, then you wouldn't buy things as often, you wouldn't have a need for as high an income, and there wouldn't be as much demand for manufacturing labor, which would be a problem because we've yet to devise an intelligent system of providing people with resources without them having to exchange labor for them, even if that labor isn't in demand any longer.
We bought a house (in 2022 our first house as broke millennials ha) built in 1983 and the appliances are original to the home including a Jenn-Air glass stovetop (!!) and the furnace. Now our house has a wood burning stove so that is part of it but our furnace is still going strong… all the appliances work well. They made em solid back then! We’ll just keep repairing them as needed unless they totally break down.
@@Thunder_Dome45 They break in three years because now they must use less water and less electricity so run four to five times as long to do the same work, same issue that new dishwashers have.
agreed I still use the same tube tvs I bought back in the 1990s and still work amazing well, sure some shoes are cut off the sides, but still 20 years and on still working, proves we now live in a disposable society. I know someone with a fridge 80 years old and works amazing well, so really
Yess Nicole thank you for praising the right values in life, TEMU gives me Black Mirror vibes. Absolutely horrible for people and the environment, all for profit
Hi. What is a black mirror vibe? I am not sure I know. Is it evil? Thanks.
@@jeffreymcmillan7703 hello! A Black Mirror episode is a TV show in which each episode shows new ways upon which technology can affect us negatively. Very dystopian, for adults only.
I think the personal data the CCP acquires through the mindless consumers buying at these webstores is probably the most Black Mirror-like part.
Thank You!!! It is good to be reminded that not everyone is taken in by the insanity of mass consumerism and/or the facades of popular culture. You are a breath of fresh air and a leader among the new brand of authentic creators.
You’re absolutely spot on. I spent about $100 on cheap tools accessories, yup u get what u pay for, very poor quality, dopamine high was a downer. Live & learn.
I've always been well served by, first, buying fewer things, and second, when I do need or want something, I subscribe to the "buy once, cry once" way of thinking. Be willing to spend a bit more on high quality items that will last a long time/forever. The pain of shelling out more money for the item is lessened by the fact that I'm saving money by buying less stuff anyway. Few things of high quality > many things of low quality every single time.
Thanks for this. New to channel so a little late on watching and commenting. I was in Thailand on business walking along the street stalls with a colleague. They observed a “Prada” purse and it was $5. They turned to me and asked do I think it was real. I said “of course it’s fake - ITS ONLY $5. I’m not sure if people really believe they can get quality products (not saying anything about Prada) for cheap and only hope they can get it for cheap. I’m not saying you should over spend but do your homework and really don’t buy things you really don’t need. Buy quality and keep it for a long time (for clothes or cars) - you will spend way less in the long run.
i bought a 1/4 impact socket set on temu. they are actually very useful. I have used them quite often and the quality isn't that bad.
Hate Temu and all of those companies. Love this!! I'm excited for the data info. I have had my "data" breached/stolen/sold (at this point i think everyone is selling our data) multiple times. Had a baby, data breach...Got a new job..data breach..bought a car..data breach and etc.
Ironically, Temu was the intro. advertisement to this video😂!
I don't used Amazon much less temu
Thank you. Do you have any idea how to STOP Temu from sending you emails?
Tired of deleting.
Love your channel.
I had heard TEMU was junk, but though Alibaba was supposed to be better. Thanks for the heads up Nicole. Have a great day.
The English translation of Temu is "directly to the landfill."
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yeh Temu is built for people who can’t control their spending. 🎉hahaha.
Their ads kill me. "I feel so rich!" "Shop like a billionaire!" I don't think billionaires are buying $2 shoes 🤨
So many of my friends use Temu and Shien and like.... it angers me. Even if you explain to them why it's so bad to use i they just respond with "Yeah but it's cheap and I'm broke." Babe, I'm broke. I just don't buy shit.
Buying cheap junk, throwing it out and then buying it again is a great way to stay broke.
@@AccordingtoNicole That's what I'm saying
I don't respond at all when someone talks about their fashions from Shein and Temu. It usually looks cheap and wears badly. I would much prefer to have a 90s Gap sweater from a thrift store or clothing swap, myself.
@@seltzermint5 I'm the same. One of the people I work with is constantly sending me temu links of cute stuff but I'm just not interested. If I want something, I'll thrift it
I hear this too. Never once installed or shopped on any of these sites, Wish, SHEIN, TEMU, AliExpress, they’re all China junk exchanges. I don’t trust any of them and the quality of their “goods” that I’ve seen in others homes is truly deplorable.
Temu is worse then you think. I used Temu twice and my card got compromised.... twice. I thought the first one was a coincidence. After my card got compromised in less then three days after the second purchase, I figured it out. I really wonder if they sold my card information.
Yep that's what they do, I wouldn't take their shit if it was free JUST DON'T DO IT
I've heard Temu grabs ALL your information from your device and people I know personally have had their information compromised. 🦖
I’ve seen a ton of Temu ads, but at this point, cannot imagine ordering from them for the very reasons you mentioned. And I’ve found that generally, you get what you pay for. Why don’t people realize that?
That doesn’t surprise me at all.
Temu is from China. Their goal is to entice you to buy their crap, but don’t forget the information they are getting from you, like shopping item preference that is regurgitated back at you, enticing you to buy more. Oh, yeah, don’t get me started with your personal credit card and bank information getting compromised.
China wants to dominate the world market, with their eye on the USA. Just watch some videos and you see the slave labor and destitution of the families there.
As a 60 year old man who lives in a high-rise apartment, for years I'd see packages from Sears and JCPenney in our buildings lobby. Then they were gradually replaced with Amazon boxes. Then with white Target shipping bags. This past year... orange Temu cartons. Stacks of them! I miss the pre-Amazon days. Love your weekly vids Nicole 😊
Great points
Pre-Amazon was more egalitarian world.
True statement from you. Sad to say but us American consumers put our own stores out of business. There’s more than one way to defeat and take over an empire. We spend way too much buying junk and packing our houses with it just to be mostly thrown out by own family when we croak.🐸
' As The World Goes Cheap ' 👈😩
@@jamescalifornia2964 as the world goes cheap we go poor and china goes rich
I’ll never buy anything from Temu. And now The Amazonian is losing me. They used to have mostly name brand products and now when you search for something by the brand name a whole page of brands you never heard of comes up and the brand you searched for is buried. Luckily at this point in life I don’t buy much anyway. If I do buy it’s to replace something that broke and even then I really think about whether or not I need it.
definitely agree about Amazon. I have felt this way for awhile now. I am generally not super invested in "name brands" but I admit when I'm (rarely) shopping on Amazon I do rely on brands, for example when buying a small appliance or underwear, just for a general idea of what quality I can expect.
I was waiting for your thoughts on temu. Thanks for this. I never jumped on the band wagon with those companies who you mentioned and never will. Im not a fan of cheap labor and its everywhere!
I love how you explain the relationships between dopamine, shopping addiction, exploitation of workers, and the throw away mindset. I hope more people start to see the connections. The Universal Postal Union and richer developed countries, US for instance, in essence, subsidize the cheap shipping, mostly from China. Serpentza has a very informative video explaining how they can ship so cheaply. We are paying for it.
Remember, if something is free...you are the product.
Thank goodness SOMEONE out there knows about the UPU and the Chinese "e-packet" scam that American business is forced to subsidize in the form of higher postal rates from the USPS. It is an obscenity of the highest order that my business is FORCED to literally subsidize my competition in China, that already undercuts me and runs their business with slave labor.
I’m a middle school teacher in my 60’s, and practically on a daily basis I have the opportunity to talk to kids about their decision making process. When it comes to drugs and alcohol I highlight that virtually everyone knows of someone older than them with a drug or alcohol problem: it could be family, a friend, a neighbor, some celebrity, etc. I always point out to the kids that drugs and alcohol didn’t solve that person’s problems - so it won’t solve your problems either. I think I’m going to expand on that to include other coping behaviors like hoarding and impulsive shopping and abusive and predatory behaviors.
Thank goodness for teachers like you. It is sad that so many kids do not learn these lessons from their parents. Often the parents have these same problems, themselves. You have the opportunity to make such a positive impact in the lives of young people. Thank you for caring.
Don't forget to tell them about the social media addiction they all grew up with and the algorithms that platforms like RUclips and TikTok use to get them hooked like Heroin addicts. From there, you can make a great segway to AI and how this will help those platforms even more in drawing their attention.
Addictions come in many shapes, but these platforms cracked the code on how to do it!
@@tomasviane3844 We actually did a special school assembly over online dangers. Right now the school's focus is online predators and bullying - these problems are worse and growing. The basic problem is that kids are not reporting predatory or bullying online incidents because they are afraid they will get in trouble and lose their smartphones. 100% of the kids said they ha seen online porn, including nudes of classmates, bullying vids, etc. - but out of the whole school only 3 kids reported it to the school or police. Predators know that they have an almost zero chance of being reported. These smartphones are ruining our youth, but few parents realizing that giving pre-teens a smartphone is such a bad idea.
Yes😊
That’s good but tell them a little moderation and be frugal but if you tell them to almost never treat themselves, most won’t listen
Thank you for making this video! I tried Temu at Christmas because honestly this past Christmas I was so broke. I didn't want my kids to have nothing. So I got them each 3 things from Temu. Which 50% of it was not like the picture. The coat I got my son was fine but the goodies and gadgets were very poorly made. I got this meat dethawer thing for my mom and she told me last night she loves it. So that was a win. I deleted the app though. I had some suspicious activity on my debit card for apple products. I don't even own an apple phone. I can't prove it was Temu but I got a new card. It was fun to shop once. But it can be so addictive. People dedicating their whole channel to Temu hauls. How can someone buy that much stuff every month?
Yes I just posted the problems with the Temu app. The company is probably data mining. At the very least it’s probably not secure and subject to all kinds of hacking. Glad you deleted it.
Same here. I bought a few things once to see what the quality was. My total spend was like 20 bucks. Then they sent me 20 credit. I used that and deleted the app. The things I bought wete decent. I noticed it came from Canada.
Temu is gross. I've seen other youtubers promote this company and their crap and it's so disappointing.
Your videos bring so much joy to my life. thank you for making them.
If the film “Requiem for a Dream” was made now I’m sure there would be a character featured with a shopping addiction. Everyone should watch that movie.
I have seen that movie. Let’s just say I never forgot it. It is a cautionary tale what to expect when you are looking for the next high.
I agree. With its haunting soundtrack, "Requiem for a Dream" is a movie I'll never forget. It hits you in the face.
Nicloe, I am amused that you speak of ethics, and push Better Help. Have you heard about the company 'revealing sensitive consumer data, including mental health information, to social media companies for targeted advertising'? While I realize the need for income, this lends an air of questionability to your videos. (How dare Temu sell your data! Patronize my sponsor Better Help. ?)
Maybe because a She wants to offer better awareness of Mental Health Help Availabilities?! Serious Subject Dichotomy here' It's Called _Ethics_🤦
Hard no to Temu
Temu selling user data doesn’t surprise me a bit. What surprises me though is that you don’t mind being sponsored by BetterHelp - a company that was doing exactly the same thing and is now dealing with class action suits🤦♀️
I know there was some drama with them a few years ago, but they have cleaned things up, and are on the up and up now. I believe affordable access to therapy is important and I believe in supporting companies who change their practices for the better.
My only gripe with BetterHelp from a practical standpoint is they don’t take insurance… my husband tried to use them but we couldn’t afford the therapy without insurance coverage. But if you don’t have insurance and it’s a bit more affordable than some options in your area then go for it!
Ie: with insurance we pay $5 per therapy session
It has been said, " when the service is free, YOU are the service. " it seems people undervalue their personal information.
That is also the reason why social media is such a struggle for me! I just can’t put much on Facebook or instagram! I got hacked on Facebook in December 2020 and I never could get it back! 😢
Best ad integration I've seen in RUclips! Very few people talk about shopping addictions. While addiction is addiction sometimes shopping is healthier then other addictions like substances. I truly think every human has some kind of addiction whether it's: sugar, coffee, substances, adrenaline, exercise. Some addictions can be healthier then others but overall any addiction isn't healthy
Well said.
The danger with shopping or gambling, is that there is no limit to the consumption, it's relatively socially acceptable...but it can completely destroy people, and their dependents. They are also addictions which can be easy to hide, and hard to detect.
@@deniser.m.7356 i watched some unrelated youtube who said their day job was addiction recovery. and one thing they said about getting over addictions like substance abuse is by turning to a new addiction e.g. the enjoyment of excercise. just found that tidbit interesting
I haven’t ordered from Temu and never will. It seemed too sketchy to me. Thank you for this video!
Same here. Nor Wish or other same sites
I, too, recognized Temu's scheme immediately after my chiropractor's receptionist proudly showed me her new bag from Temu. It was junk. How could she not notice?
BTW, a Temu ad ironically appeared at the bottom of your video!! The algorithm pared you. I love it! What a world. 🤪
Same 😂
Avoid stupid ads, get AdBlocker Ultimate for your browser. Blocks YT ads all day long!
Good news ....it's 6 months from this video & I don't see TEMU bags anymore. Used to see them stacked up at apartment mailboxes & whatnot.
Can't remember the last time I've seen one, now.
I heard that temu sells your data. But then you said it.
They sure do.
Never ordered anything from anyone except amazon, just a couple of times. True is that cheap stuff is garbage. I made a kind of vow last year, not to buy anything unecessary in terms of clothing and accessories. I bought nothing and it feels absolutely good. Love your videos
Thank you for this video. This company is a disaster for the planet. I unsubscribe from any content creator sponsored by them or support dollar stores. I’m so glad I didn’t have to unsubscribe from you. When I first saw their logo on you video, I momentarily thought 🤬 NOoo! Not Nicole! It was only momentarily. 😊 by the way nice segue into Better Help.
👍🏼
I have not and never will sign up for TEMU or buy anything from there, and I felt this way before I saw your video today. I don’t trust them or their “name brand” products. Cheap cheap cheap knock-offs. I also don’t shop at dollar stores. Nope, no thank you.
Nothing wrong with a $1 spatula!
@@tomasviane3844exactly 💯💯
I think the dollar stores are great when you are trying to get organized and don't buy a lot of things that come in cardboard boxes. Or, my only purchase from them last year, to have cheap containers for seed starters with my toilet paper rolls. It's okay when you want to try something to see how much you will use it before biting the bullet for the better quality one. Also, stovetop pans are cheaper there, though I don't trust anything else in the kitchen section to hold up.
I learned the hard way that their pencils are wrapped in plastic, meaning they shred when they are sharpened. Their paper products are difficult to cut, plus a stack of notecards are cheaper at Walmart since nearly everything is a dollar there. Food and hygiene products aren't worth it either.
I so agree with you and when I think of the poor workers who make these things it makes me feel so bad for them. They work many hours a day under horrible conditions and are hardly paid. There is also a lot of pollution in processing these goods, which in turn pollute when they are thrown away. Thank you for shining a spotlight on this issue
TEMU equals POLLUTION
Yes, I bought KN 95 masks, socks, a set of pattern rulers for sewing, dye cutting pieces, a sunglass pouch and other very practical stuff. Would I have bought face-masks anyway from a US retailer, with all the viral crap going around these days? Yes. I would have and would have had to pay more for the same filtration effectiveness. How about the pattern rulers? Whenever I go to Joann, I get an anxiety attack looking at the prices on their dress-making rulers. Even when they have sales, those things are way out of my price range. I am not a professional seamstress. Otherwise I could have written those off on a tax return as a necessary business expense. But as a diy refashion enthusiast, I could never justify paying so much for something so basic. Temu hooked me up. You may think whatever you want of them but I am happy with the majority of my purchases from them.
I think there needs to be a TEMU support group for those addicted to TEMU.
When their product is nearly free, YOU are the product.
Could not agree more. And I'd love to know exactly which billionaire shops from Temu. 😂
I took it as meaning you can shop LIKE a billionaire: frivolessly, because you can.
Yes, I think the premise is that like a billionaire, you can afford anything.
@@AccordingtoNicole Indeed, but do billionaires buy random crap? 😊
lol no - Warren Buffett lives 45mins from me and he lives in a modest upperclass house in Omaha, Nebraska. He spends very frugally. He eats breakfast at McDonalds (he invests in the company so ok sure but also gross). Apparently his 2nd wife was a waitress before marrying him and when they went to Sun Valley she complained that a cup of coffee was $4!! 😂 so yah billionaires can be MORE frugal than middle class Americans easily.
Maintaining this narrative for themselves is a form of what I call “guillotine insurance”. They scrape and claw to maintain the illusion of relatability to prevent themselves from being eaten.
Personally I prefer to thrift 95% of my material possessions. Usually it's higher quality, better for the environment and cheaper. I'm very surprised that more people don't thrift with how expensive every day things are these days. My work shoes I bought recently were $8 from the brand Saucony. They are in pretty much brand new condition. Would have been about $100 new
I love thrifting for this reason also. I will admit I have a soft spot for trendy decor and fashion items that may be lacking real practicality, like a pretty vase or plate for my home, but spending 2 bucks on it at a thrift shop is my style, not 40 dollars new at IKEA or Target. Or a Nike cropped sweatshirt for 6 instead of 60 new.
Garbage brands are really starting to show up at the thrift, but I'm with you. You can still find good stuff sometimes.
Just bought a practically new pair of sandals that retail for $135 for $4.99 at my favorite thrift store.
I'm so glad I found your channel I ❤ your content keep up the awsome work Nicole.
This minimalist sends you thanks for the warning against temu😅
I have to contradict you when it comes to the quality of the products. At least the items I have bought there all had a decent quality. I really cannot complain about that. Of course you shouldn't go crazy and buy stuff you absolutely don't need, but you shouldn't do that whereever you shop.
I so love your honesty! We all need less crap in our lives, not more.
There's low price and then there's value. A good book on the topic: "Cheap: The High Cost of Discount Culture" by Ellen Ruppel Shell. Anyway, thanks for the TEMU warning, Ms. Nicole. I was not familiar with them and, it seems, better off that way.
i get a high from not buying from these cheap ,rubish, corupt so called companys,,,,,,,great content Nicole
I’m not rich enough to buy cheap things.
I bought a garage seal for my door Amazon charged 42 bucks temu charged 19 bucks same exact thing .yes I agree with much of what you say but Amazon and temu are the same just different packaging
I made one order last year for some bicycle accessories. You know those brand name plastic thingamajigs that are stupidly expensive for what they are? That’s what I loaded up on. And I have to say that I was happy with the quality of everything I purchased. For $80 I bought a few iPhone and Garmin mounts, a big bike frame bag, a bike repair toolkit, two swimsuits, assorted cleaning brushes, a bunch of sleeping eye masks and a squeegee for the shower doors. I would probably not buy anything with electronic or moving parts from Temu, but their other stuff is very good value for the money.
You’re right Nicole tell it all cell phones and tablets are addictive there’s too much social media and texting. Places of assembly are disappearing at an astonishing rate I live in the southern 🇺🇸 🧱 and mortar stores 🏬 are whitewashed and boarded up, thanks to amazon
Love this! Someone I occasionally watch on here had Temu as her sponsor for one of her videos. I hadn't heard of them but when I read through the comments I saw many people call her out on how awful they are and that they were shocked she was promoting them. I googled them and saw what they were all about and had zero interest in it. I've also never ordered from Shein, Wish or Alibaba. They just don't appeal to me at all. Thank you for making this video. ❤
You are absolutely right, there's a couple people that I watch and I think to myself do they think this stuff is good 😮 Every bit of it is crap . And China is just getting richer off of us PLEASE BOYCOTT THIS SHIT😅
Seems like no one knows the old adage, "it its looks too good to be true, then it probably is," anymore.
You can watch a documentary on Temu over on the China Uncensored channel.
Its more than just the too good to be true prices. Temu treats their employees horribly, like ambulances need to be called horrible. I appreciate you covering this. Most people think its great!!! And the ones who promote Temu are getting kickbacks.
That country wants to be the next world superpower. So i susect there are political motives also. The want to put Americans out of business
I've also heard they treat their sellers badly. Temu gets to decide what to charge. Not the seller. They apparently don't carry anything over $800.00. theres something about the laws that changes at that price
Re: "trendy" ethical choices. Maybe she's right---in fact, for some, I know she is---but, for myself, I've found it can be absolutely exhausting to try to keep up with making as many ethical choices as living in a TEMU/Amazon/Walmart world demands of us.
And expensive, as the ethical choices are quite often the pricier choices too.
The "TEMU Rot" is systemic, extensive and pervasive and tends to just wear people---even the best-intentioned people---down after a while.
It definitely pays to teach ourselves to simply want less.
People are handing their credit card information over to china. What can possibly go wrong with that!
This is the real problem. Not just credit card information but all your personal information as well. China is a huge data vacuum and who knows what CCP will be ultimately doing with it all. As the old saying goes…”What could possibly go wrong?” 🤡
Every time I get the urge to buy something I don't need or want, I transfer some monies into my brokerage account and invest.
Oh, I have seen some of those hauls full of trash! If people didn't buy the crap, Temu would stop trying to sell it. Ultimately, we are the cause of the problem as far as the garbage merch goes. I have seen people buy items with ok quality though Temu as well, so they have both sellers of decent goods and garbage. It is definitely Temu responding to people's demands to buy garbage as much as Temu's desire to make money. We have to own our part or nothing will change.
Yep. There wouldn’t be a supply if the demand didn’t exist.

With Temu, Tackiness is a form of art.
TEMU: Everything is "almost sold out".
Hi Nicole! When you mentioned disposable products you hit a nerve with me.
I have always supported the electric cars. Until I learned the batteries will wear out in 15-20 years and will cost $10,000 to $20,000 dollars to replace, which is far more than a 20 year old electric car would be worth.
I drive a 16 year old Dodge Caravan, which runs perfectly.
I am hoping the manufacturers will solve this problem in the future.
@kerishannon775. Agreed. I think the electic car market is stalling. Not only are the replacement batteries fearfully expensive, EVs are also now suspected of causing quite a few electrical fires (spontaneous combustion) which are proving difficult to extinguish. The value of EVs is tanking on the second hand market; and they are horribly expensive to insure.
The batteries last about 3to5 years
Haven't ordered anything from Temu. Saw what they are from the start. Any business that sells things as cheap as they do is up to no good- cheap goods or an attempt to put others out of business.
You could do a video on kitty litter and I would enjoy it.
Absofuckinglutly!!!! You're my goddess of sanity. Thanks kiddo.
Though I've not done significant research on the claim I'm proposing...here it is: The U.S. has been sending 'trash' and 'plastic trash' to China for years for disposal, as we didn't want our used plastic to be dumped in our own backyard, so to speak. So, after awhile, China didn't want our garbage anymore, but they had the excess plastic anyway. Being intelligent, resourceful, and forward thinking, they made products from that same plastic garbage and sent it to us in the form of plastic made products. We bought and still buy them. Now the plastic is back in our own backyard, where it belongs. Karma.
I've never once ordered anything from temu, shein, wish, alibaba, or anything along those lines. I feel slimey when I order something from Amazon. Usually when I order online, I have an idea of what I already want and I'll go directly to the brand's website to get it. If I can't get it from a brick and mortar store in my area.
My old room mate (before temu and shien's time) would order shit from wish and some cheap fashion website known for shitty cheap clothes. CONSTANTLY. And then complain about every single thing he purchased. But would not understand what I was saying when I told him those websites were made to take all your money and give you nothing in return but make you believe you've been given a good deal. He would not only agree with me, he would ignore it entirely and continue wasting his money on trash.
Brainwashed.
I’ve been wearing the same clothes for like 10 years lol but I’ve decided I’d like to replace them with natural fiber materials - cotton, wool, etc. I’ll pay for it! My husband gets a wool sweater every year or every other year and just mends/patches it. Real wool can keep you safe from hyperthermia even if it gets wet. I know bc I was vegetarian for a while the aversion to leather and such but my husband has the same leather jacket from the 90s and it’s still in good condition. There’s a reason why humans learned to use plants and animals to keep us warm and if were intentional, we can buy 1 good quality item and use it for a LONG time to diminish suffering vs these cheap trashy items made of plastic.
I ordered a shower curtain & a cutting board from Temu a while back. The shower curtain sucked, & the cutting board was fine (though it's probably hard to screw up a cutting board). It seems hit or miss. A lot of it's the same stuff as Amazon
Cutting boards can be made from toxic materials that will get into your food when you cut on them.
I love your subdued rants and this one was exceptional. Very insightful. Yes, I have bought garbage. It was an LG refrigerator with a compressor design that failed three times. Luckily, I had paid for an extended warranty (the only time I did that fortunately). On the third go round, LG offered to buy back the fridge but I had to buy another one of their “refrigerators.” We’ll see how long this one lasts. I love your honesty. 👍
This is why government (elected representatives) needs to stop taking grafts from industry and start doing their job and REGULATING industry. This downward spiral started probably earlier (I know when "managed care" was explained to Nixon and he realized it meant less care and more profit for the insurance industry he did a 180 in his position,) but it was like deregulating on steroids under Reagan. Remember "the nine most terrifying words in the English language are: I'm from the government, and I'm here to help"? He demonized government and this disaster that is unregulated free market capitalism is his legacy.
Honestly, I don't know if this is fixable.
Thanks for playing the gadfly today.
All companies exploit I have found amazing things at temu which would cost a lot elsewhere so it works for me big companies con you into believing they are ethical until their not!!!
their stuff reminds me of the things you can win as prizes on a fair... cheap crap that ends up in the bin after a week or less...
they should actually slam high taxes on their products for being so bad for the environment since they're basically only good for 1 time use, and that 1 time only if you're lucky...
You'll never guess the ad that appeared right before your video! Shop like a billionaire!...a billionaire that buys trash!
You get what you pay for. But it seems that many manufacturers are putting out products that they know will fail in a few years. People are used to getting a new washer or fridge every 10 years. I have a stove and fridge from 1998. I just hope they keep on working!!
We have a Jenn Air glass stovetop from 1983 😭 what a blessing! Our furnace is also original to the house and still going strong 😂
10 years is a stretch with the design flaws in these. More like 3-8 years. Repair over replace if you can now a days with older appliances.
My parents fridge died after 4 years of use. So did my daughter's. Both were made by Samsung.
It's true that your Information is the Product on Temu. They've admitted it's sale and tracking you is worth more than profit on cheap goods.
Looks like most don’t care. The “me me me” mentality overrides any logic.
coming back to this video cuz one of my fav influencers was heavily promoting temu like although companies can be scammy , its kinda scary how one company can quickly take over
I almost did but then all the stupid games / wheel of fortune popped up and I just thought 'ahhh f*ck this' and came out of the site 😂
Sending love to you & Levi from Warrington, UK ❤
Me too! They were selling a drone for stupid low and out of curiosity I opened the app and was like. Oh ok. I see how this is! And deleted the app.
I agree Temu is crap, and I wouldn't be surprised at all if that citrus squeezer had lead-based paint. I, too had a lapse in judgement and bought from Temu once, but never again! We have to be very careful when hitting that "Buy Now" button, because each click is literally a vote for that vendor and everything they stand for. Money is very powerful people, be careful how you use it!
Nicole, you can't possibly say a truer word about temu: Cheap. Cheap prices for cheap crap. We're being inundated with the stuff. It's like an invasion. It reminds me of the opium dump the West did to the East to force their doors open or how europeans purchased Manhattan Island from the indigenous peoples with sparkly beads. Temu is playing our own game against us. But, yes, I'm quite sick the hell of them and their cheap crap, too.
I had never heard of Temu until another RUclipsr posted about how terrible a company they were. I’ve never ordered and definitely don’t plan too.
No I haven ordered from Temu and I won’t. I live in a low income area and I see those orange Temu packages everywhere.
I have ordered from Chinese sites. Not all of the products are too cheap & low quality.
There is a Temu add on your video. 😂
Temu is ok if you're smart about it.
I got a new gaming mouse and wanted a bungee for it and they were half the price at temu compared to amazon.
Temu reached out to you cause they probably saw your video where you tell viewers not to spend money on supplements all the way being promoted by a supplement company.
Therapy is all the rage now, talk about marketing, I have been seeing as many therapy ads as temu ads, lol
Also trying to unsubscribe from their sales bs that they flood your e mail inbox is annoying.
M goodness, lady, you quoted Rise Against. God bless you.
I never did trust Temu, prices seemed too good to be true, and I suspected it was just junk and knock offs of poor quality.
Such an excellent video!!
And I thought I was the only person in the world who doesn't care about sports.
Here is the hilarious part...an ad for them popped up for me halfway through this video. I agree, they're garbage and I'll never buy from them.
I brought that citrus squeezer too, and snapped it 2nd time I used it
Typical. Blame the messenger. I am a woodworker and have purchased quite a few things from Temu/Banggood and others. I have had one "bad" experience which turned out to be my own fault for not paying attention. Do they sell crap? Yes.so does Amazon, Sears, and especially Walmart. You supposedly promote paying attention. Well, there is the answer,in your own words.
I feel like a billionaire 😂
I've never bought anything on temu but I can only think of one situation where it would be something I'd want to do and that is Halloween or another costumed occasion. But you have to have the forethought to order 3 weeks in advance which I never have.
I watched a RUclipsr who did an anti-Temu video like yours. She talked about them reaching out to her. They offered for her to buy $100 worth of stuff for free and then she would be paid $5000 for a one minute video. She didn’t do it, but boy I can see why a lot of these RUclipsrs do that could be very tempting. I’m sure the amount they offer depends on the size of your channel and she has a huge channel.
Yes. Money talks. And YT is chock full of sponsored content and advertising - whether indicated properly or not. Money talks.
I feel like when someone I know brags about their fashion find that is from Temu, Wish, Shein, I notice they only wear the items like once or twice and then I don't see it again. Not surprising.
