      Lavenham (near Bury) is a must, especially as it was Godric Hollow in the Harry Potter films. It is all black and white tudor buildings.

    I am an enthusiastic Bury St Edmunds resident, you should definitely come again, book a guided tour, the history is fascinating!

    The "empty church" is St. Mary's, i was a live -in nanny, to an American, just opposite...It escaped Henry V11's dissolution, as his sister Mary is buried inside somewhere that you saw....x The Abbey is over 1,000 years old!

    You missed out on Moyses museum in what was the Jewish merchants museum inside the abbey precincts ,the Georgian Theatre,& The Nutshell Britains smallest Pub, & if you want to know about the Abbey burial place of Englands Martyred King read the book Jocelyn of Brakelond a Chronical of Bury St Edmunds Abbey

    The only time I went to BSE I had just got off a very hot train on a very hot day, went into a pub for a cool drink only to be told they had just closed. Gone off the place since.

    Did you know that Henry VIII’s sister is buried in that church. She is buried at the altar.

      Can be super true. Sometimes you gotta wait for a decent event to make the most out of it.
