- In this video I show you the Logitech Combo Touch iPad Pro 12.9 5th Generation case up close. But there are a couple of concerns, watch the video to find out more.
For more details on this case and to purchase please visit: amzn.to/3hKdkIe
I had it on my 10.5 inch iPad Pro for 7 years never had an issue protected it from numerous drops. I,just bought a new one for my new 12.9 inch iPad Pro M2 5/26/24 on sale at Amazon for $129.00 I really like the trackpad my seven-year-old model did not have that, but it did have the function keys. This makes it even more of a perfect keyboard.❤️
This is the first review I've seen that addresses the weight of the case, with and without the keyboard.
So how much does the case (w/o keyboard) weighs?
Thanks for changing to the metric system ;) Greetings from Germany.
Yeah, appreciate this whenever someone in the U.S. does it.
Agreed
Really appreciate you seamlessly showing the weight in metric system.
Thanks!
I have this case too and yeah, I agree that it's a little tricky to open when and Apple Pencil is attached. What's interesting is that I also have the same case but for the 10.2" base model iPad and despite this new model being designed for the larger 12.9" iPads, it's even thinner. I chose this over the Apple Magic Keyboard because the detachable keyboard makes it much easier to use the iPad as a standalone tablet when doing artwork whereas Apple's own case doesn't let you do that without removing the iPad entirely.
I think you can lay it down flat; with the cameras facing up and open it by pulling up from the kick stand to reveal the keyboard and screen. Lmk if this works for you :)
This review addresses everything I need to know in details. Love simple reviews like this. No need for fancy B rolls. Just meaningful showcase will do. Thanks for this wonderful review.
Much better than the magic keyboard tbh:
- Function Keys
- More durable material
- Slightly bigger trackpad
- More versatile with the kickstand and detachable while still having the kickstand
I'd probably buy it even if it was the same price or more expensive than the magic keyboard
More durable…? Ummm
@@khodascope Yes?
This isn’t even accurate.
-materials are less durable
-track pad is bigger on the magic kb
-can’t stand up on its own like the mkb
Unfortunately they both fit different niches and I find myself switching all the time. I use the magic kb if I’m in bed or not at a table. The Logitech case not being magnetic is a big let down.
Nopes , used both , apart from function rows , MK is just better . If you want to save money get a Logitech but i will rathe save some money and get the cool MK
@@hk6926 Why do you prefer it
I have never seen someone who replied to every thought popped up to mind immediately, very informative completed video! Thanks a lot
Very good and professional review, I think I’ll buy it, thanks. Very well!
This is better than the Magic Keyboard itself, much more practical.
Does this work with the ipad pro 12.9 third gen?
Nice video and good details too. Especially the difficulty of opening the cover which was not mentioned by the other reviewers. It is expected since the cover sits flush with the edge of the protective case. Not sure if they provide a small lip will help but their would affect the aesthetic of the entire product.
By its look, I cannot imagine how it could be heavier and more dense than the magic keyboard.
Great video. Didn't plan on getting a keyboard for my ipad, but I think I will now. You're quite an 'influencer'.
I’m sold from the get-go with the Apple Pencil opening. Most cases, including the zagg keys pro, offer no solutions for the need of the 2nd gen Apple Pencil to physically attach to the iPad in order to pair and charge. This case does though, thank God.
Best and fastest arrive review for this keyboard, such a great review. Every thing I hate about magic keyboard is fixed here. Luckily I didn't buy the MK. In the end and after using it, personally do you suggest to buy this keyboard?!
what do you hate about the magic keyboard?
it does not impact the microphone at all, it sounds the same with the cover on/off :)
thank you for the feedback. I was worried abt the mic not functioning.
Does it support 12.9 Pro 2020 (4th Gen) ?
You should have done some typing tests and trackpad tests
I hate the cloth like coverings of it.
The only issues with these style keyboards/cases is that all your oily fingerprints from using the keyboard then get transferred to the screen of the iPad as soon as you close it!!
Yea, Good point. Also would having the keyboard on the screen when its closed make some scratches on the screen
But you don't ever need to close the keyboard to the front. You can either detach it altogether for flip it onto the back. I guess if you were looking forward to covering up the screen with the can then there is no way around that. But I think this product is really meant to compete with the Magic Keyboard.
@@opiatesmile ...of course you need to close the keyboard to the front?!!! The whole point of this case is that you can close it up once you have finished using it, just like Apple's keyboard folios.
@@deans6571 no you don’t need to. The fact that the keyboard detaches is a big indicator that it can be used without it. So my point is, if you are worried about the keys leaving marks on the screen, don’t keep the keyboard on the front. With the Magic keyboard, you don’t even have that choice. You either use the whole thing or you lose all the protection.
This is my biggest gripe... The brydge had little rubber nibs that stopped the screen making contact with the keys, which really help keep the screen clean, but it wasn't so easily detachable as this... I'm so sick of these cases all having a drawback... I just want a damn case that detaches, prevents oil transference, has a trackpad, is slim... Surely it's not that hard
I have this keyboard, and agree with all points. Would add though that vs Apple Magic keyboard the footprint on the Logitech is much bigger as the Apple one hovers over the keyboard. Furthermore the Logitech is almost useless on your lap, its too long and too flimsy, it just falls down here. The Apple one is vey stiff and compact so can be used as a LAPtop easily. I went Logi though regardless due to using it for mobile art and wanting the added protection, detachable keyboard and stand which can used drawing board style on a desk. Plus the function keys on top row. Hope this helps.
Good video, thank you.
Will this fit the 2018 iPad Pro?
I have this same question!
Although someone else replied to another comment saying it covers one of the speaker holes but doesn’t seem to affect its preformance
Do you know if the iPad Pro 2020 inch will fit in this?
It does, I use the 2020 12.9" model and it fits fine. The person at the Apple Store mentioned that while this case was designed for the 2021 model that's slightly thicker than the 2020 model, there shouldn't be any issues.
@@NekoMichi thanks
Someone replied to another comment saying that another video says it fits and logitech also says it does
It works, however the case edge would block 1/3 of the speaker. This is designed for 2021 iPad Pro
how can i protect my pencil while nothing there?
The brightness key on the shortcut row isn’t working, neither one. All other shortcut keys work, jut not brightness ones. Can anyone help with tips?
How is the writing and drawing experience when at the lowest angle? Does it feel stable and still or is it constantly bouncing back with feedback?
i just bought the 11inc version, unfortunately it is not stable and constantly bouncing while writing. This is so annoying, the only solution for writing on with this case is total close the stand and put it flatwise on the table
Mines fine it doesnt bounce at all
I am noticing that the two finger click isn’t as reliable as on the Magic keyboard. What has been your experience with this?
Why this keyboard isn’t compatible with iPad Pro 12,9 2018? Is it due to the speaker cutouts? Can please someone verify if they have tried it?
Is it compatible with 2018 ipad pro?
This is a better case, I have both...
Do you know if it works with iPad Pro 12.9 4th generation?
Hi, after using the kickstand at the maximum angle, did you find the back of the case in the middle where the kickstand folds, does it crease?
Will the keyboard scratch the iPad screen?
I have almost this exact case for the iPad Air and I have not seen any scratches as of yet.
Now I'm assuming you probably don't have the 11 inch model but I'm wondering for that one is the actually size if the letter keys smaller or is it more like they made the shift key, backspace key and those kinda keys smaller?
Because I was hoping the letter keys would be the same size so I would have the same typing experience.
Can’t confirm as I only have the 12.9, sorry
@@metagamers ahh ok I figured but thanks for the reply
This is almost a throwback to some of your iPhone case videos from way back when (how I found your channel). Nice and concise.
Random: Have you considered giving a foldable a try? Z Fold3 is coming soon. Expensive but super cool IMO.
Thanks! I’m going to look into that one it’s by Samsung right? I hear foldable tech is coming along nicely. I had not heard of it before you mentioned it so thanks for bringing it to my attention.
Does this work with iPad Pro 12.9 3rd Generation?
soooooo the back cover is 1.5lbs? I wish the back was lighter
Will the case work on the 3rd Gen iPad Pro from 2018?
I asked the logetich support and they said “apparently it’s not compatible with 3rd generation ipad pro 12.9”. But i want to know for sure by someone who tired it, because there is no big different between 3rd & 5th generation
@@muath7962 there is only a thickness difference of 0.02cm....hopefully someone test this cover on 2018/2020 ipad pro 12.9...
Someone replied to another comment saying that the 2020 iPad pro another video says it fits and logitech also says it does so i think there isa good chance that it also does on the 2018 one
@@BahaaSharaf
Yes it's fit and compatible with 3rd and 4th generations
I ordered to try on the 2018 iPad Pro. Here’s hoping
dude does your keyboard have a little dot between the shortcut lock ???
because mine does and i wonder is it defact or not
@metagamers
Does this work with ipad pro 12.9, 2020 model?
can this for the 4th gen Ipad Pro 12.9Inch 2020?
does this fit the previous iPad that with the square camera? the one before the m1 version
Can you edit on CapCut with it(like just as good as without)
Don't know as I have not tried, sorry.
Is possible if i use logitech combo touch keyboard on Ipad Pro 12.9" M2? Is there any different between M1 and M2?
I am unable to test since I do not have the iPad Pro M2 model.
Hi guys quick question as I'm about to buy this, will the keyboard touch the iPad's screen? Do I need to put a screen protector as to not damage/scratch the screen. Thanks.
case is hard or soft?
working on ipad pro 12.9 2020 ( 4th Gen ) ?
I’m having a really hard time writing on this ts it is in my lap. I lean my wrists on the trackpad because of its location and it leads to random clicks and errors in my typing. You can see how it messed up this comment already. There are phantom click or “pressure” clicks when you lean you writs on the base.
Frustrating. I’m super annoyed. Surface Pro does it better.
Will it fit on my 2020 iPad Pro 12.9“?
That I unfortunately don’t know since I don’t have the 2020 Pro to test. I suggest checking out Logitech’s page directly to confirm if it will fit.
Yes it will . I just bought one and it fits the 2020 12.9
@@calebclarksanchez1056 Sounds great! Thanks!
@@nasser178 the only thing is that the speakers don’t align correctly . Like one of the holes is being covered up
@@calebclarksanchez1056 does it impact the quality of the speakers/microphone?
Any issue with the amount of pressure required to activate a click on the trackpad? I have to press mine in really hard for it to register, so I’m returning it.
Na must be a flaw with yours , I’d give another one a try
Is it only for the 5th generation or can I use it for my 4th generation iPad pro too?
Works with 4th gen but the speakers may be obstructed by the case
IPad Pro 2020 model fits?? And the speakers??
The 2020 and 2018 models should fit, however the speakers will be misaligned. It shouldn’t impact the quality of sound too much though
Will this work with the 4th gen ipad pro 12.9 inch?
I have been dying to know the abswer to this question.. because apple’s magic keyboard does.. but i like this more but no one seems to have answers
Update: someone replied to another comment saying that another video says it fits and logitech also says it does
It fits
Do we have to charge the keyboard?
No
No, it uses the smart connector so it charges via your iPad
Hello! Could you please tell me if you have tried to use the keyboard separately from the ipad/cover and if it still worked? If not, could you please tell me? Because that would be very interesting for the ergonomics. Thank you!
The keyboard does not work when detached. This is because it uses the smart connector and not a Bluetooth connection.
@@metagamers Thank you! But would you please try that again? I have asked Logitech and they said that it works for max.12 hours once detached. Try it! It might be a nice discovery. I can't try myself since here there is no iPad Pro available in any of the shops, nationwide.
@@momonatu4998 Unless a firmware update was released when I tried it before it did not work. I can’t try it as I’ve since returned it due to the issues I call out in the video.
@@metagamers The one related to the pen? Or I don't really get which other issue. You seem very positive about this product.
@@metagamers @metagamers I confirm, can't be used detached. I am flipping out. The technical support was also suprised, because it was the Chat service of Logitech self that told me that. I am not going to buy this product either, I know why. I am also very disappointed they just spead false information about their products. I will trust certain RUclipsrs and Technical service only from now on ahahah.
No pencil cover = no sale
It doubles the weight at least if not more.
Does anyone know if this case works with the 2020 12.9 iPad Pro?
Yes it will. I just bought one for my 2020 12.9 . It also fits the 2018 model
Yes but speakers might be misaligned
@@calebclarksanchez1056 does the misalignment of the speakers impact the sound quality?
@@cedrics1220 nope not at all .
@@calebclarksanchez1056 really nice!!
imma yeet the keyboard i dont need it only want the case lol
Tf you buying this for then. Just buy a case
What would make me 100% love it is if they added a freaking flap to hold the pencil and have something to open it easier. I would think It wouldn’t be that hard.
yep, I have it also as I am a reviewer for a major tech store and that was my first complaint. Picking up my iPad sometimes knocks the pencil off..putting it in my bag..sometimes knocks the pencil off..setting it down wrong...knocks the pencil off. They had a small strap on last years model that helped, but for some reason this year, they removed it. Its 2 steps forward 1 step back. What I do not understand is..all they had to do was add something to help hold the pencil in place better AND add a small tab to open, and this would be a perfect case...yet nope. Also I have it for the 11 inch, and the speaker cut outs do not line up with the speaker ports on the tablet
I dont understand they have the pencil holder on ipad pro 11
Would this fit the 4th gen ipad pro
Does this case work with the iPad Pro 12.9 2020 version?
I’ve had this keyboard of a year and it was great! I love how versatile it is. I just have two issue. The mouse pad will randomly stop functioning when using gestures and sometimes when you open a new window from the background ones it’ll make the screen bigger making the edges hard to see or press. Keep these in mind when buying this. I’m thinking about getting the MK since it doesn’t seem to have those issues.
have you checked for any firmware updates?
Do you know if the iPad Pro 2020 12.9 inch will fit in this?
I saw another video that adresses this. It fits (also, Logitech says it will work)
Someone replied to another comment saying that he bought it and it works although it covers one of the speaker holes, it doesn’t seem to affect the speakers quality
i have the iPad Pro 12,9 3rd generation. Is this equal to the 2020 model ? will this work too ?
I got my case also and it seems like there is a channel for that microphone, so that the sound channels through and makes the mic work.
I just checked Logitech website and one of the pictures shows no channel for that covered mic. Perhaps Rick has received a pre-production unit?
@tae kim how good is it if you were to use it on a soft place like the mattress of the bed (like, does it fall down if you move it even a bit backwards for instance?)....I'm looking at getting it but I'm not sure how good it'll be in regards to the places i can use compared to a more rigid case like the apple magic keyboard
@@jiveshvilbhumindraram4855 plenty stiff enough for your bed, couch or lap. Great, but expensive addition to the iPad.
You raised a concern with a microphone on the side being covered. It would have been great if you had actually tested it (via maybe a voice recording) to see if any difference are present instead of asking people to let you know I’m the comments. Great video, just a point.
I just purchased this and still getting used to it, works great for work going from laptop to iPad is a smooth transition, Thanks for the video.
Have you tried to separate the keyboard from the cover and did it still work? I would like to be able to do so in certain cases, so I can maintain a good posture in front of it. Thank you!
The most comprehensive review I’ve seen ! Thank you :)
I just hate how expensive their iPad cases are now… back in 2017 I got the slim combo for my iPad Pro which was exactly the same as this, minus the trackpad. It cost $100 CAD. This one is $300 Canadian.
what color did you get?
My backlight is not responding at all. I have updated it (iPadOS 17.3) and tried to restart it. Can someone please help?
If only it wasn't for the flap stand I'd buy it. Like my worry is the flap will lose its hold to stand over time and become useless. If it had a design like the Brydge it would be super worth it. But then again the brydge is BT and not hardware connection. They both have their cons. Also how well does the stand hold? Personally I plan on doing digital art with it and yes I could put it flat but sometimes a different height or angle is helpful.
In every Ipad case review weight is mentioned like if it was something really heavy, can an iPad Pro with a keyboard case be that heavy that is an issue for someone?
Yea, because many people want to buy an iPad, because its lighter and more comfortable to carry around than a macbook.
2 years later it's still the best case for an iPad pro, I just got it, cheers!
Ive been waiting for this keyboard for two years now.
I’ve got the combo touch and overall it’s great, the two things that give me pause however are the kickstand and back fabric; the kickstand doesn’t feel like a hinged piece of metal but instead one that is being bent back and forth, my concern is that it will eventually loosen and snap, it also doesn’t have a clear stop point when opening it out so can be opened too far putting excess strain on the hinge/metal. The back fabric on mine has already started to crease and come away from the metal at the ‘hinge’ point and you can hear the adhesive separate as you open and close the kickstand.
Have you experienced either of these with yours? Wondering if I have a defective unit.
Mine is making the adhesive noise too… I just got it two days ago.
@@itriied5027 two liars in a row, remind me, how long you had your case before all of this started happening???
This keyboard is great but i don’t get it why Logitech remove the magnetic strap to secure the Apple Pencil like the Folio touch and the Folio does not have a 12.9in size
Does it work for 4th gen?

Io ho il modello per iPad 12.9 pollici M1. Ma la barra spaziatrice si illumina o no ? Perché si illuminano tutti i tasti tranne la barra spaziatrice.

would this fit the ipad pro 12.9 3rd gen?
Does it works with iPad Pro 4th generation?
Será compatible con A2229?

Thanks great review, that’s made my mind up
Does it fit iPad Pro 12.9 2020?
The back of the top iPad case (where the logi logo is) can is be mounted on a mag safe dock?
The case is not MagSafe compatible so I would not suggest it.
Love the close-up view! Nice video!
I'm really torn between getting this case or apple's magic keyboard.
Would love to see an audio test to see if that mic that is covered makes any noticeable difference.
The Logitech case is definitely more functional than the apple magic keyboard. For audio you may not notice much difference unless you are wearing headphones or do a side by side comparison.
I saw a comparison video between the logitech and apples magic keyboard and the mic actually sounded better when it was in the logitech case for some odd reason.
@@JasonLewis42 saw that one too..sold me on the logi as I'm gonna be drawing a lot a well.
If only third-party accessory like a bumper case for the iPad 12.9 just to protect the sides of the iPad and still fits the apple magic keyboard I think that would be a better combo.
There is, its called coverbuddy and Pitaka MagEz. Im thinking the Same as u But when removed the ipad wont have a kickstand with the just mentioned combo and it wont have fall Protection
I have a separate case that I use when not in Apple Magic Keyboard. I actually use second case more, as keyboard is not needed as often.
He's very curious about the third hole 😏
