i was in a gun store the other day and a guy and his 10 year old daughter came in and bought a cricket 22 rifle for her birthday...but the look on her face when there was no 22 ammo at the shop....i went to my trunk and sold him a 525 rd box that my daughter had shot about 50 out of for $20. so i probably lost money on the deal, i think i paid $26 a box plus tax at cabellas, but knowing that little girl had ammo to feed her birthday present....thats priceless.
That same box in Canada, sells for $65/box. We only have a 10% difference on our dollar right now. So...there you have it. Canadians are ruining it. We are still paying a 100%+ markup. That is where your ammo is going.
I went to buy some 22 ammo at the hardware store. They had boxes of 250 rounds from winchester for a reasonable price so I bought a box. I was speaking to one of the guys that worked there and he said he had just talked to his son who was in the Army. He worked at an ammo storage depot. They had just received 10 pallats of 22 ammo. However at this time the Army doesnt use 22 ammo for anything. WTF is going on??
the scalpers do it exactly like they said here in northeast Kansas. Get a bunch of guys on days they get trucks early as hell in the morning when normal people are sleeping, getting ready for work, taking care of their kids, and then putting it up for $0.25+ a round or more. It's been completely a matter of luck to find some without having to drive 30 miles and call every gun and sporting goods store in the area and settling for whatever you can find. Seems like it is starting to get a little better but not by much
You gentlemen work by integrity which is the reason that I have subbed to your channel. I recently purchased a mosin 91/30 and a 91/59. Two crates of ammo and the thing I love is to take my boys shooting and pass on my love of the shooting sport. Keep up the great work.
I agree. The last interview I saw of Hillary Clinton at a book signing, last week, she said, gun owners make up a "minority" and they are "terrorizing" the rest of "us." I wonder if she would have made that same statement about any other "minority" who believed in the Bill of Rights, the Constitution, or, civil rights.
blueskylazer it's unbelievable that this is what the country has come to, that believing in is founding documents is being construed by its leaders as "extremist."
I lived in Florida all my life and I was ten years old during the 2004 hurricanes. I remember four times that year the hurricanes hit and we lost power for about two weeks per hurricane. People were selling generators on the streets for crazy amounts of money, some families bought them but most families just dealt with no power and the mosquitoes.
Glad to see you guys talking about this. It's refreshing to see someone with a solid following talking about this in realistic terms. When you actually talk to the manufacturers of .22 ammo, you find that they're running those plants 24-7. What they produce gets spread across the country, then spread across the states and then spread across the cities. To illustrate how quickly that gets thinned out, in the Houston area (approaching 6 million people), a major manufacturer like Federal can only supply ~70% of all retailers (from Walmart to Mom & Pop) with ONE box per day. This was never a problem before the last 18 months of fear buying because supply was consistent with demand. Now, as resellers and hoarders out-demand the supply chain, regular people begin to hoard out of fear, driven by this artificial scarcity. It's not conspiracy, just algebra. It's not as simple as tooling up more production lines either. The existing lines weren't running at full capacity before the madness, and ammo manufacturers are in the business of making long-term profits. They anticipate that eventually, things will slow back down and they don't want to have huge capital invested in production capacity that will be unused in the future. Their wise business decisions are obviously good for shooters in the long term. The reloading shop where I work sees lots of the same sorts of issues with powder, primers and bullets. Thankfully, the primers appear to be back, the bullets are making a pretty strong comeback and the less popular powders are showing the first signs of being able to stay on shelves. That said, we're not out of the woods yet, but as Eric said, people will remember which shops treated customers right when things settle down. And things will settle down.
you guys are true hero's giving your own ammo to sell we need more people like you in this world. me personally I love guns but never really had a chance to shoot just cuase my mom as a child got scared out of not likeing them from her NJ cop father and she hates when I even say the word gun... but one of these days im gonna goo out and buy a smith a Wesson 15-22 a1 drive far back in the country to a buddy's house and have fun with a few friends . also does anyone know where this shop is?
Brandon it's about 10 miles south of Atlanta off I-75. Take the hwy. 19/41 exit and go about a mile. Take a left on (I think) Old Dixie Rd. Moss Pawn is on the right. Good selection. Good people. My son bought his first rifle there. Highly recommended.
I Recently moved into the north country of New England from the Boston area, in going around and meeting the local gun store owners they told me that they hold .22 bricks to break down to 50 round bags and sell loose when they run out of packaged 100 and 50 round boxes. I applaud them for looking out for all customers and making sure there is enough for everyone.
It's not a free market, it's a few people trying to control the price. The real problem is the people who are willing to pay the inflated price, which continues the problem.
It is a free market. Many people will be stuck with .22 ammo. Just give it more time. The same thing was happening with 9mm. Now the shelves are loaded with 9mm.
Never had this problem 30 years ago when I started shooting. Their was always a limit of what you could buy at one store in a single day. Now I dont shoot powder at all. I went back the basics like Crossbows and air rifles.
I don't live in the US, I don't own a gun because even a .22 is too much trouble to get, but I still find it entertaining and interesting to watch these gun gripes episodes. Keep up the good work!
Support fellow gun owners!...my neighbor asked for .22 and I have 4 thousand rounds so I sold him a brick for 2$ less than I paid just so he could have it...help our friends and neighbors! I also found bricks for 4 friends this past year (so once you have enough help others!)
Would you like it be better if Eric did that to a human or a dead (or live) animal? If Eric blew up an old TV, it would scatter non-biodegradable plastic, glass and electronic guts all over the woods that would still be there 100 years from now. Would that be better? The tree is perfectly biodegradable and blowing it up is little different that chopping it down for furniture or firewood.
+John Smith where do you live, yea I see 90 buck & 45 buck for match ammo, but Blazer .22 I buy bricks of all the time in Utah for 24. to 29. depending on store. Pay 22. bucks for Armscor .22 bricks all day long. Oh for all that's reading, not hording, my Son & I burn 2 to 4 bricks every other weekend.
Much respect for helping out us low income shooters. Ammo can be a real sonofabitch to get a hold of in South Dakota. My local gun stores NEVER have .22 ammo. My friend's father has the "in" with many of the gun stores here, he literally gets three or four calls a day from these gun stores frantically calling him about where he can get ammo the moment it hits the shelves.
I refuse to pay inflated prices for .22; it will comeback eventually. I am glad that I have several thousand rounds. But, I remorse back when .22 was everywhere, the good old days.
A big box retailer that my friends, family and myself have been going to for 5+years rarely gets any .22 lr ammo at all. One of my friends that work there tells me that they get a truck every Friday. Given the fact I have a shooting event coming up in July and how hard it is to find full jacketed high velocity .22 lr ammo for my ATI STG-44 I decided to head up there every Friday for the past three weeks. Just last Friday when I showed up they had CCI .22lr 40 gram full metal jacket (the perfect match) they denied me sale because I did not purchase a gun from them. They're limit is 1 brick (100rds) and they had over 50. I've been going there for years and know a lot of the floor people on a first name basis but never again am I going there. Thanks for this video, I feel it really gets the word out about Big Boxes!
So I found a 500 box of 22 at a local shop.. Bought it.. I'm now looking at getting a "Cricket" for my kids to learn on.. I'd love a 10/22 but as you said it's easy to go through ammo with a semi-auto. I'm looking at going the other route with the single shot. I still get to go with my kids but don't burn through it.. Even though it's pretty fun to do it.
^^^ Good stuff right there :) I myself just sold 2 bricks of CCI Quiet to a local guy who wanted to teach his daughter to shoot, for a whopping $90 and I paid $87 with shipping, cheese burger profits :P
That sucks. Never let the ammo shortage starve your daughter of her 2nd Amendment joy. .22 LR isn't the only round she can shoot. Get her a .410 or 20 gauge.
Buy her one of those hipoint or other brand 9mm carbines. They are usually small and light and 9mm in a carbine sized gun should be easy for her to handle.
I feel ya brother. Had to teach a buddy how to shoot on my .38 without any idea what he could do or handle, and this is a dude half my size haha! Do what you can for your daughter, she'll appreciate it!
its a nice thing you did Eric going and getting in your own stash of ammo to help a child out, i no how you feel on the situation, i bought my son a 715t mossberg for his birthday back in February and i have only been able to find 200 rounds since then, we live in a small town and we dont even have a walmart here and we got a couple pawn shops here and one of them cant even find any 22 ammo and the other pawn shop has them but there gouging them at $100 a brick , and its bad i cant take my son out shooting his gun, but thats the way it is at this point in time , hopefully people will quit hording and we will start seeing some more 22 on the shelf but love you guys videos keep up the good work and thanks for caring for the people cause you dont see much of that anymore
I have over 20,000 rounds of .22LR, and close to 4,000 12 gauge shotgun shells, which are still easy to get. I buy the .22 online when I find a halfway decent deal. I spend an average of $200 a month on ammo, and will continue to do so. That is way more than I shoot. I have two 12 gauge shotguns, three .22 rifles, one .22 revolver, one 9mm semi auto pistol and one .380 semi auto pistol. I have close to 1000 rounds of 9mm. .380 is super expensive, and I don't plan on buying too much of it, as the .380 is my carry gun for self defense. I don't shoot it much. But the plain fact of the matter is that guns are completely worthless without ammo. You could have a house full of guns, and with no ammo, you are defenseless. I see things going downhill fast, and I want to be prepared for the time when there is no more ammo available at any price. One very effective method of gun control is ammo control. Don't get caught in a bad situation without ammo for your guns. So I would advise gun owners to stockpile as much ammo as they can afford.
Have both situations happening here in San Antonio. Walmart employees hoarding .22 ammo for themselves and friends, and Academy has 2 groups of people every morning at the door. One group has 4 people the other 6, they stay together as they go thru the line, and all get into their group cars and leave together. SOOO OBVIOUS. I gave up after a month of "running out" of 22 ammo to the 2 hoarding groups at our local Academy.
SO If I go to Wal Mart at 6:00am and wait until 7:00 for the ammo to come out,and Nine more people come and stand in line for 22 ammo and they bring out say 20 bulk pks there is a three box limit ,should I buy my 3 box limit because I can and got there first,or should I share so all ten people can get some ,I went to wal mart for over a month trying to buy 22 ammo and the same 5 or 6 guys is there everyday, some of them gets there at 5:30 or earlier and buys it as soon as it come out, some of these same guys came up to me and offers to sell it to me for twice what they just payed for it.I FOR ONE THINKS THAT THIS IS JUST GREED PLAIN AND SIMPLE !!!
But what if the demand goes down due to the oversupply? Then all these bulk-buying resellers stop buying all the ammunition causing in a loss of profit for the manufacturer. It's a nasty game to play
Nonesense, then you will just have to increase the .22 cheepo shooting and you can plink all day long. In more serious matters, you can probably retool the factory to a different caliber, because then the hording may change to a different caliber.
"If you see a box of ammo and you dont need it to shoot, guys just let it sit for the next person that may really need it" says the guys who just admitted to having 15,000 rounds stockpiled in their closet. 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤣
You guys are a credit to your community and indeed the whole country. Its people like you who show that the USA isnt all only dollars and cents but about care and respect for each other.... good on ya guys... Dave
haha in NZ (New Zealand) we never had a .22 ammo shortage, I think the USA still has a shortage but you can get it in NZ for 10-20$ ($10 NZ dollars is about 7 US dollars)
one of my favorite gripe episodes yet. I wish the masses would realize that if they stop buying the overpriced stuff, the supply would come back as soon as the greed hoarders stop selling. and when it comes to the kids, just give them your number and meet
Should be first come first serve no limits. Who cares if you buy it then sell it at higher prices. It isn't anyone's business what you do with it. I personally wouldn't do this. It isn't any different then buying a car and flipping it for more money. The example you use about upselling ar's to keep up with competitors prices is same as selling. .22 at higher prices. Better topic is why is the .22 ammo in short supply. I love my .22 rifle I just can't shoot it bc ammo in my area is rare to find
My 18th birthday last year I got a 525 round box of Federal .22. 65$ for that box, from 25$ at WalMart less than a year before then. Then someone gave me a 500 round box of Winchester SuperX .22. Ive given 50 or so rounds to several people that couldnt find ammo to buy, because I just havent had any opportunity to shoot. Theres no good ranges in my area which sucks, but Im gonna keep the 4 or 500 rounds I have left so I can actually shoot the next chance I get.
I barely take my wife out anymore, because she shoots .22 LR and we don't have that much left. I have to make it last, since we're not likely to ever see more of it. My opinion is that this won't go away as an issue for a long, long time.
i used to work at Academy sports and outdoors behind the firearm counter, when we got .22LR we limited to serve as many people as possible. but when i would get there around 6 in the moring we would have 20-70+ people waiting outside, most of them re-salers. every academy is different ours would let us buy .22lr only after the rush and only 1 box of anything over a 100ct
there is plenty of 22 lr ammo out there ,online at .05,.06.07.08.cents a round .the top is cci mini mags .08 cents a round .i donnot pay over .08 cents a round been buying 22 lr since june 2013 to june 2014 and have plenty don't want to say but i just bought another 22 lr pistol to add to the other one i have .check out the you tube videos of every one going to their walmarts buying 22 lr ammo i donnot resell my ammo its to go shoot with .go to gunbot.net and you will msee all the 22 lr there at marked up prices .so the ammo is out there .
That's the thing about big box stores, you expect a guy making $7.50 an hour to think about customers. Their own place of employment can't honor them with decent pay, so why give a shit about what a customer wants. LGS are always much more mindful of their customers.
They generally pay more than that. The average wage for part time cashiers and associates is about $9 / hr and can range up to $14 / hr. Full time associates average around $12.50 and can range up to $18 /hr. It is in line or even a little better than typical retail and service type jobs. If people want to make more they need to find something to do besides retail sales. I've run across good and bad at both big boxes and LGS. That said I will generally buy from the LGS first if they are even remotely close in price.
My local gun shop keeps a case of .22lr in the back at all times. It's not for sale, but is instead reserved for anyone who buys a .22 firearm. I found this out when another customer picked up a Ruger mk3. They were completely out of .22 at the time, but they still gave that customer two boxes of .22lr when he bought the gun.
Still no .22. It became available for a while, and then disappeared completely again. I've hit over 5 stores in one day, and no .22 at all. So after all these years... no .22, something is going on.
How hard is it for a ammo manufacturer to pump out lots of ammo, thats why they are in the business, so speed up the presses and let the ammo fly. There shouldn't be a shortage.
many the guys making the ammo are as much to blame or is it the Govenment? Who is stopping these manufacturers from speeding up the presses and making more and selling it. If I owned that business id be making as much as possible.
They are already operating at max capacity, and that puts them in a tough situation. If they buy more machines, build more factories, and hire more workers, then they could end up in a situation that hurts them big time. All those things cost a lot of money. When demand finally drops off (and it will), then that will be a lot of stuff they no longer need/can afford.
i respect you guys so much. such insporantion and just bad asses u guys keep fighting for our future please do so. i bought 2 boxes of cci the other day and gave it to my grandfather because he had surgery on it. its a nice round for kids and the elederly community. we all thank you both for ur service
Their is no shortage. If Canada has it stocked on their shelves then that means the ammo manufacturers have the ammo readily available. It is either the manufacturers or the big vendors who are sitting on their inventory to make more money. If we truly cannot keep our shelves filled with 22 ammo but Canada has no problem, that should send you a red flag.
You realize that distributors can't just send the supply of ammo we have located to Canadian retailers and decide to sell it in the states, use your noggin for a change jesus christ.
I can't help but think of "It's a Wonderful Life" and Mr. Potter taking advantage of people during the bank run and the mom and pop shop trying to bring sense to the people.
Makes more sense to put his money toward a firearm chambered in a caliber readily available and pick up a 22. when the ammunition is more common. Im sure he has more than one firearm in mind, might as well get one he can enjoy now rather than later :)
The Texian Libertarian nicely put however with the website I put in my 1 reply he could easily get as much 22 ammo as he wanted or needed and have it delivered right to his home rather than having to go to the store and purchase it there
I was in Cabelas the other day and had to make a choice between 325 rounds of lead nose or 100 rounds of cci mini mag. It was one box, no exceptions. Had to go with quantity over quality
Me too. with it being as hard to find where I am, I've been buying a box basically any opportunity I can and keeping up to 1500-2000rd because a. I might not be able to find any without a lot of trouble for the next few months and b. I tend to use anywhere from 100-300 rounds when I shoot.
Can we please stop complaining about Capitalism and Freedom, there is no such thing as gouging, there is supply and there is demand. Hurricane or ammo shortage it is the same thing. It is thanks to entrepreneurial individuals who are willing to get up early and hustle to make sure that these needed items are easily available even in a shortage at a price that people are WILLING to pay!
If they didn't buy up all the ammo to resell then everyone would be able to buy a few boxes and you wouldn't need to pay more than it should be. Nobody's knocking the system, they are knocking the A-holes that exploit people in the name of.
well, some people who like to shoot aren't ale to be at WalMart or Academy at 7am...its not the fact people who go everyday and buy it all up.. it sucks when they are hoarding 200k rounds.. nobody needs 200k rounds of 22lr.. they say it's for SHTF ..bullshit.. if SHTF , no one is going to fucking pack 200k rounds of 22..and if 200k rounds of 22lr is their SHTF inventory they are a goddamn idiot and wont survive long anyways...I shoot at several ranges in my area, almost every week, and all that 22lr surely isn't being brought to the ranges where I shoot.. they are stacking it in the garage like pack rats thinking they are doing themselves a favor...I have absolutely no problem with keeping a larger stock pile han say 6 years ago, but 200k rounds of 22lr?.. if the SHTF and sme ass clown asks to roll with me and all he has is a backpack full of fucking remington golden bullets I'm gonna tell him to step off...if SHTF you better have some better ammo,a bigger gun and some other more valuable survival gear than 200k rounds of 22....lmao
Dogeggz "th[ey] have no choice but to pay" If that were true, then isn't it nice that the higher prices discouraged those who did have a choice from buying all the items up, thus ensuring availability for those that truly need them?
Over the years I would randomly buy bricks of .22 just to have it when we went shooting. When the ammo shortage hit I went through my ammo safe and realized I had close to 16,000 rnds of .22. Since then I am down to my last 4 bricks of 500rnds everything else I have given away to people who don't have a single round. All I got in return, well a big bottle of Jack Daniels and hearing the stories of the range trips...that is priceless. Smiles are worth more than money!
They bought it back when .22lr was plentiful. That means they were not even putting a dent in the .22lr supply at the time. But with .22lr being hard to find, taking 6k rounds now is almost eliminating the supply. That is the difference. Also the big box store manager most likely had the "its all mine and you cant have it mentality" whereas eric is giving some of his away, and putting it on the shelf at normal prices to sell. If you dont believe me about him giving it away then look no further than a few posts up. A guy said he cant take his daughter shooting any more cause he has no 22 and eric told him to pm him, most likely to send him some in the mail.
Since the shortage started I am lucky to find a couple bricks of .22s at a fair price each year. Had to trade some of my factory centerfire ammo in the beginning. All different brands and types but I'm fortunate they all shoot to the same point of aim at 50 yards. Testing the ammo were the only times I have shot my .22s. Had less than 50 rounds on hand at one point, glad to have almost 2k now. Despite my meager stash I do share it with friends and family!
You are sitting on 15,000 rounds of 22 and don't think that is too much? I have 200 rounds because of people that think 15,000 rounds is not too much. You are part of the problem. I can find a box about every 3 months.
I always buy from my local gun shop when possible. My local walmart never has any 9mm or 22 in stock. Usually the gun shop might charge a dollar or two more per box but will have it in stock! Seems like there are new areas where ammo companies can definitely grow their business. I know if I were working at a company as a boss, id look into expanding like Federal has done to 24/7. Its the American way!
Since you are limiting the number you will sell to an individual. Why don't you bring in 10,000 rnds. of your hoarded ammo to sell. You stated in the video you don't shoot much 22 so why do you need 16,000 rnds. sitting in your basement.
Paolo Calabria I don't think so...the retards are the fools who pay double and triple the normal prices for merchandise, instead of ignoring these asshats that gouge consumers, and letting them collect dust on their merchandise instead of huge amounts of money and laughing all the way to the bank. Don't buy anything and see how long they keep their gouging in place.
DOUG KAL man you need to calm your shit, there is absolutely no reason to flip the fuck out on IV8888 or Paolo. lets do the math real quick, shall we? if IV8888 has 16k rounds that he does occasionally shoot (so lets assume that its slowly deminishing) and we devide that 16k by 500 (each brick of .22lr is 500 rounds) thats ONLY 32 bricks of ammo. that 1. wouldnt last 2 days in the store as soon as word got out that they even had that small ammount, and 2. if brick are going for about 45 bucks a piece right now, thats only about 1500 bucks to the store. but thats also 1500 bucks lost out of IV8888's pocket of his own personal money. he stated he has no issue helping a friend or customer in small ammounts, which in my book is way less selfish then most places. could you say you would do that? no, i dont think you would, which is why your going off on this childish temper tantrum over such a small ammount of ammunition that really would affect the ammunition economy in no way. so whos really being the selfish piece of fucking garbage right now? get the fuck off you high horse, and why dont you go out of your way trying to help the firearm community instead of belittling its members? you are a child who cant see the bigger picture that this video is pointing out right the fuck infront of you.
we can feel the shortage here in Germany too. Cheap .22 is quite hard to find, especially around the 6-10ct per round ones like Remington lead roundnose or CCI Standard
Excellent vid.I really appreciate the possibility of leaving some on the retail shelf for the " kid scenario of a first time shooter". Very well done! My wife ( btw is a 100% service connected USAF Veteran) enjoy your all of your vids. Thank You for your service to and for our country. God Bless You and the U.S.A.
Don't forget the C&R shooters, who have guns in esoteric calibers! I have a case of 8x56R 1938 production ammo only because I have two Steyr M-1895's! Excellent Gun Gripe subject-John in Texas
.22 is drying up for two reasons. The main reason is that new shooters, new gun owners have gone up 3x in the last few years, these new shooters have increased demand beyond what the supply can serve. The second is we as shooters believe there is a "market price". Market price is a myth, price is what the market will bear and still profitable for the person selling. The price of .22 MUST go up to quell the demand since the supply cannot do it. The hoarders are raising prices, this is because the first line retailers and manufactures are NOT. The fact that retailers are not raising prices is the reason hoarders remain to be profitable. The first line retailers making more money on .22 will go right back to the manufacturer, incentivizing them to increase their manufacturing! By increase I mean purchase more equipment. I've made a few videos on this, the principle is economics 101. Great video guys, I'm glad you're preaching the free market and capitalism.
***** This is true. Starting with a 9mm or even a .40 for a pistol or even the Kel-Tech thing is a good start instead of a .22LR. Plus, with 9mm's and .40's if you get your hands on the reloading equipment, you can reuse the casings. I love my .22LR, and I do "hoard" it, I tend to bank on about 2K rounds before I go to the range, so I'm saving to go to the range.
I also want to say, the Ammo Shortage is coming to a close. Dicks had well over 1M rounds in at it has lasted well over 2 weeks. Which is surprising due to their buy 1 get 1 50% off. They are limiting .22's to 2 boxes of 100, and they are CCI Mini mags.
I work in the mining industry here in Australia.. And when we r in close proximity to the pit when they r blasting they tell us to evacuate the area if that orange smoke drifts our yw as it is highly karsanagenic... I well looked like a lot of fun tho :)
At the height of the ammo scare this issue came up and a high executive at Walmart came on and posted their office contact information & said that if you see it happening anywhere to call them because it violated policy & would get the person fired. My local Walmart changed where they were storing ammo because of some low end people doing so & customers trying to steal the ammo from the locked cabinet - required a manager to get ammo for several months.
i have to my name 10 22lr rounds and there for i have ended up taking my scope off of my 10/22 and its pretty much being forgotten. I wish there were more people like you around here
Hey Guys, nice video. Yes the 22 situation is kind of dire. I too have found myself having to say to the grand kids no we cant shoot this weekend due to no ammo. I am trying to do more training in shooting, but I am finding myself having to bring out the bigger stuff which to me is counter productive with the younger ones. Hope things get better..... keep up the great videos....
I work for one of those big box stores as an hourly supervisor of the sporting goods department, and I do try my utmost to ensure that the supply gets spread around as much as possible and let the non-employee consumers have 'first crack', but as you mentioned, the problem can lie with the greedy consumers as well, what with stopping by twice or complaining loud enough until they get what they want. As a fellow shooter, its what I would want to see, but there is only so much that can be done in even my position.
Friend of mine worked in sporting goods at walmart for 20 + years .He finally got so sick of the constant calls for 22s ,and the same batch of cutthroat re sellers coming into store every day trying to scam more 22s ,that he transferred to warehouse ,where he dident have to deal with these types anymore.
I have had a hard time finding .22LR & forget about Walmart, I haven't seen .22LR there in a year. However, I walked into Bass Pro Shops this morning & was amazed at all the .22 LR they had but it's a 2 box limit so I picked up 2 boxes of CCI Blazer but they had like 50 boxes on the shelf plus other brands as well. I will go back tomorrow for sure but likely they will be out knowing the demand out there. Last week I did find 525 Brick of Remington Golden for $24.95 & picked up one of those.
At the beginning of the year, I walked into a store which had supplies of 5000 .22lr ammo, several boxes of them. Before this point, I could not find it at all. So, I bought one of those 5000 rd boxes. I use it. I go to the range and shoot. I realize there are hoarders out there and sure don't want to feel like one. When I come upon a person wanting to buy some, that 5000 rd group breaks up into little 50 rd cartons. Perfect for tips, give aways, etc. People have opened up at the range and shared their things in return.
i dont get to watch thtese videos as often as i was used to due to lack of time but still i sometimes get to watch em and i always enjoy it :) Thanks for keeping this up. greets from germany ! =)
I haven't been by the shop in 3 months due to work changes. I only shop at small shops now and avoid the big box stores or some small target oriented online retailers. You guys have always had decent ammo at a fair price. I met a new shooter at a CMP last May 31 that was driving back to North GA and I told him to come by the store because you would have some Lapua Midas most likely. They enjoyed the store visit. I hope by the end of summer that the hoarders will be done for and the supply will be back to normal. In the more expensive Target ammo the prices are starting to slowly go back down and availability is up. Eley is easy to get now. SK is out there to be had now. Yesterday in Fayetteville since I had to go to a clothing store at the big retail development I managed to get some Norma at a nearby range but only limited to 2 boxes. They had a few different types of .22 as well. Oh yes the same kid shot in Griffin yesterday with his CZ 452 Lux and did quite well with the Lapua. There is a clinic next month for new shooters in Griffin at the indoor range. You guys are the best. Shoot straight and stay safe. Tom.
Re: Big box stores every day operation, I can only speak for my store, the store Managers rule is to limit .22LRs to three boxes per person per day. Ammo is unloaded off the trucks during the evening but it is not put on the shelf until 7am (store is open 24/7). We as employees have to buy just like any customer. Currently there is no limit on any other ammo. Generally all the .22LRs are gone by 10 or 11am sometimes 8am. We get tractor trailer trucks in every night but usually only get ammo once or twice a week. Two years ago I could walk in anytime of the day and have a choice of 500+ bricks, 300+ bricks, 100 round or even 50 round boxes. Not anymore. Too bad.
Great video guys as always. I really miss Berry but am glad you are continuing the gun gripes. Also thought that was very kind of you to bring in your own ammo. I remember going in gun shops for ammo with my grandfather when I began shooting. I hate to see it when kids can't shoot. Keep up the good work.
In MA you have to have a permit if you want to keep more than 6000 rnds and the local mom and pop shops are selling 100 rnd boxes of 45 for $62 when Walmart is selling the same box for $43.
I love the way you guys remove stumps there. Good video. We are only getting what we need to hunt and a little practice with for awhile now. We kinda share it back and forth in our little group in the woods here. Trying to wait out the scare. Thanks for video
I buy ammo a box at a time until I have enough. We need to not be greedy with the ammo supply and leave some for others. It is the responsible thing to do, and the price gouging won't stop unless we show restraint in our purchases also.
I never heard of this until I was in the US recently and I saw a Walmart store with a sign that said no 22 ammo. I've never even heard of that here in Canada you can buy it anywhere you want
410 shells are plentiful. Plus, with the 410, you can get em birdshot, buckshot, turkey loads and slugs, even sabot/rifled slugs if you get them a rifled barrel. You can maximise the 410 even more if you get a nice selction of chokes. Many options other than 22. I personally have took up shooting my big rifles, 30-06, 300 and 338 Win mag cause the ammo is plentiful and every single one of those rifles can be very versatile.
the sports academy near me that opened up 3 months ago never seem to run out of ammo of any kind. they have an entire 25-foot aisle of ammo with rifle and shotgun rounds on one side and pistol rounds on the other. even have the russian 640rd 7.62x39 spam cans for $150
I just got a Ruger 10-.22 but still have not yet found ammo to shoot it for the first time with. Every time I go into a big box store I am told that you have to get there on truck day, which is usually an inconvenient day due to my work schedule, and it's all gone within a few hours. Oh and I live in Colorado
i was in a gun store the other day and a guy and his 10 year old daughter came in and bought a cricket 22 rifle for her birthday...but the look on her face when there was no 22 ammo at the shop....i went to my trunk and sold him a 525 rd box that my daughter had shot about 50 out of for $20. so i probably lost money on the deal, i think i paid $26 a box plus tax at cabellas, but knowing that little girl had ammo to feed her birthday present....thats priceless.
That same box in Canada, sells for $65/box. We only have a 10% difference on our dollar right now. So...there you have it. Canadians are ruining it. We are still paying a 100%+ markup. That is where your ammo is going.
Some things are priceless. She will remember your deed of kindness. Good carma whether you believe in it or not it's good carma.
Good on you! That is awesome!
I must agree that was a true act of kindness, too often doesn't happen these days, God bless you.
Atta boy - gun owners helping each other out.
"Buy it cheap, stack it deep."
I'm stealing that one.
60,000 rounds. Good starter kit ;)
To fight rat ISIS obviously. Head in the game, guys.
The lack of .22 has been an issue for several years. Every time I go in to walfuck there are never any .22 rounds.
+jim smith 200% right.
the scalpers do it exactly like they said here in northeast Kansas. Seems like it is starting to get a little better but not by much
Thats weird. In my state theres never been a problem at least for the last few years with .22. 9mm however, is scarce
Watching this again upped my opinion of Chad. I still miss Barry but the kid knows what he's talking about. Nice job gents.
From the Description
"FYI: The tree was already dead"
"Omae wa mou, shindeiru"
Tree: "NANI!?"
You gentlemen work by integrity which is the reason that I have subbed to your channel. I recently purchased a mosin 91/30 and a 91/59. Two crates of ammo and the thing I love is to take my boys shooting and pass on my love of the shooting sport. Keep up the great work.
you guys should do a gun gripe about the "domestic terrorism" slander being directed towards constitutionalists and 2nd amendment defenders
I agree. The last interview I saw of Hillary Clinton at a book signing, last week, she said, gun owners make up a "minority" and they are "terrorizing" the rest of "us." I wonder if she would have made that same statement about any other "minority" who believed in the Bill of Rights, the Constitution, or, civil rights.
blueskylazer it's unbelievable that this is what the country has come to, that believing in is founding documents is being construed by its leaders as "extremist."
blueskylazer jesus that's fucking desgusting
I lived in Florida all my life and I was ten years old during the 2004 hurricanes. I remember four times that year the hurricanes hit and we lost power for about two weeks per hurricane. People were selling generators on the streets for crazy amounts of money, some families bought them but most families just dealt with no power and the mosquitoes.
Manufacturers are not shipping nearly as much as they used to. They claim two shifts working but that has been shown false.
You won't regret it.
Time Machines people! This is why we need em!
I also found bricks for 4 friends this past year (so once you have enough help others!)
why would you do that. that was a perfectly good tree.
Would you like it be better if Eric did that to a human or a dead (or live) animal?
If Eric blew up an old TV, it would scatter non-biodegradable plastic, glass and electronic guts all over the woods that would still be there 100 years from now. Would that be better?
The tree is perfectly biodegradable and blowing it up is little different that chopping it down for furniture or firewood.
penguinistas Apparently you don't know about MattV...
penguinistas Facepalm...
penguinistas take a joke
not anymore haha
Gun show last year, 500 round brick of .22 was $90. This year, $45. Moving in the right direction, but still can't find anything on the shelves.
2018 $21 for Brick 500 now. Stock up while you can. Magazines can become banned again at any time. Even with Trump as Pres.
I cant hord ammo...the more I have the more I shoot!
I'd start hoarding now with the libs in action trying to take our rights
Obama is the best gun salesman of all time, buddy. :P
Great episode. Haven't taken my daughter to the range in over a year due to not being able to find .22LR. :-( Hope things return to normal soon.
Jon,
PM me with some details.
Thanks,
Eric
Probably the best 22 response I've heard. You guys are the best!!!!!
I'm in southern Indiana, and that tree hit my car. You can send me a check.
Dodge Mustang will he fix it with a bomb for the infidels
Have both situations happening here in San Antonio. Walmart employees hoarding .22 ammo for themselves and friends, and Academy has 2 groups of people every morning at the door. One group has 4 people the other 6, they stay together as they go thru the line, and all get into their group cars and leave together. SOOO OBVIOUS. I gave up after a month of "running out" of 22 ammo to the 2 hoarding groups at our local Academy.
part of the problem is they put the ammo out at the same time every day. they need to put it out at random times
The same thing happened to me but I had a speech with them and they sell it for 2 and 3 times the price! Just like Eric said!
That's called capitalism.
You could get to Walmart at 5:30 or whenever they do and buy it.
My question is should I share or be a greedy douche bag like these other ass holes.
David Burke That's how "black Friday" began starting at noon on Thanksgiving.
its not GREED its called LAZINESS.........you gotta get up earlier. They paid the price by getting there so early. Its just capitalism.
That intro was great. SOmething about the orange haze after the binary goes off that is pleasing to see.
Guess the best solution is to start more .22 factories, outsupply the demand.
This is why small businesses need to be protected. Ethics, first and foremost. Y'all are great.
"If you see a box of ammo and you dont need it to shoot, guys just let it sit for the next person that may really need it" says the guys who just admitted to having 15,000 rounds stockpiled in their closet. 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤣
Lol fr. First come first serve. I'll hook my family up but that's it.
+Wha hello dere just checked guncity.com and there is a bit less ammo in .22 now
one of my favorite gripe episodes yet. I wish the masses would realize that if they stop buying the overpriced stuff, the supply would come back as soon as the greed hoarders stop selling. and when it comes to the kids, just give them your number and meet
If you want to know where all the .22lr ammo is, watch the ending of Indiana Jones Raiders of the Lost Ark.
Eric, what you did, and are continuing to do is beautiful. It is great that you are giving kids ammunition when they cant afford it, and god bless you
Should be first come first serve no limits.
My opinion is that this won't go away as an issue for a long, long time.
i used to work at Academy sports and outdoors behind the firearm counter, when we got .22LR we limited to serve as many people as possible. but when i would get there around 6 in the moring we would have 20-70+ people waiting outside, most of them re-salers. every academy is different ours would let us buy .22lr only after the rush and only 1 box of anything over a 100ct
should have put it out at random times :)
This is why I haven't bought a 22. What's the point in buying a firearm if you can't shoot it due to lack of ammo?
Bologna, they aren't making enough of it!
there is plenty of 22 lr ammo out there ,online at .05,.06.07.08.cents a round .the top is cci mini mags .08 cents a round .i donnot pay over .08 cents a round been buying 22 lr since june 2013 to june 2014 and have plenty don't want to say but i just bought another 22 lr pistol to add to the other one i have .check out the you tube videos of every one going to their walmarts buying 22 lr ammo i donnot resell my ammo its to go shoot with .go to gunbot.net and you will msee all the 22 lr there at marked up prices .so the ammo is out there .
I haven't found any so it's be a waste of money buying a firearm I can't use.
I've seen very little. If I can buy a brick, then what's the point of buying a .22lr?
louie p Thanks. I'll look into them.
Hahaha, gotta love how quickly you took cover behind that tree when you saw the explosion.
That's the thing about big box stores, you expect a guy making $7.50 an hour to think about customers. Their own place of employment can't honor them with decent pay, so why give a shit about what a customer wants. LGS are always much more mindful of their customers.
If someone doesnt give a shit about the customer he needs to be fired. Instead of having a low paying job he will now have a no paying job.
Well a LGS here wants 10 dollars for 50 rounds of Federal Champion .22...

Your reply is only at the top of your screen. For everyone else it is buried among the thousands.
Pretty normal availability here in northern Kentucky now. I'm seeing it in several stores every time I'm out and it's all reasonably priced.
An Ar15 round is in effect .22 caliber.
+Isaac Lloyd Penetration hole from a .22Lr and .223 are exactly identitical. Same width, circumference, etc.
My hat goes off to you for sharing your ammo giving somebody a chance to shoot
I'm sure one day the .22 Bubble will burst. When that happens, the market will be flooded and .22 will be cheap.
Eric, thank you for sharing your ammo with the customers. That is very gracious of you.
Your being way to simple!
Don't you think they have limitations also.
They can't go any faster than they are making it now. They are opening new factories.
I dunno, just frustrating i guess.
Shame, I was planning on buying a .22 rifle for my next gun.
Don't!!!!
Same here but it would be better to wait for now.
The Texian Libertarian I just have to ask why ? wait
Had to go with quantity over quality
i dont stock pile ammo cause i like to shoot....
Me too. with it being as hard to find where I am, I've been buying a box basically any opportunity I can and keeping up to 1500-2000rd because
a. I might not be able to find any without a lot of trouble for the next few months and
b. I tend to use anywhere from 100-300 rounds when I shoot.
It says a lot about your character to go through your own ammo to put into other peoples hand. Props to you my friend great video
*that have no choice but to pay. Vultures imo.

problem is that there isn't enough supply
well, some people who like to shoot aren't ale to be at WalMart or Academy at 7am...its not the fact people who go everyday and buy it all up.. it sucks when they are hoarding 200k rounds.. nobody needs 200k rounds of 22lr.. they say it's for SHTF ..bullshit.. if SHTF , no one is going to fucking pack 200k rounds of 22..and if 200k rounds of 22lr is their SHTF inventory they are a goddamn idiot and wont survive long anyways...I shoot at several ranges in my area, almost every week, and all that 22lr surely isn't being brought to the ranges where I shoot.. they are stacking it in the garage like pack rats thinking they are doing themselves a favor...I have absolutely no problem with keeping a larger stock pile han say 6 years ago, but 200k rounds of 22lr?.. if the SHTF and sme ass clown asks to roll with me and all he has is a backpack full of fucking remington golden bullets I'm gonna tell him to step off...if SHTF you better have some better ammo,a bigger gun and some other more valuable survival gear than 200k rounds of 22....lmao

"th[ey] have no choice but to pay"
If that were true, then isn't it nice that the higher prices discouraged those who did have a choice from buying all the items up, thus ensuring availability for those that truly need them?
Over the years I would randomly buy bricks of .22 just to have it when we went shooting. When the ammo shortage hit I went through my ammo safe and realized I had close to 16,000 rnds of .22. Since then I am down to my last 4 bricks of 500rnds everything else I have given away to people who don't have a single round. All I got in return, well a big bottle of Jack Daniels and hearing the stories of the range trips...that is priceless. Smiles are worth more than money!
Wats setting you guys apart from the big box store manager whose hoarding 6k of .22. And u "sitting on" 15k of 22?
He explained that he was going into his own stash to stock the store so people can shoot .22
He purchased it before the 'shortage". Clean out your ears.
Is there really much of a difference tho?
And my ears are clean. But thank you for your concern....
Dont be hatin
you are part of the problem moaning about how someone else spends money.....
1kparmar I can find .22 anywhere I go.
Donald Eaton I just filled up a 5.56 ammo can to the brim with it
I always buy from my local gun shop when possible.
I have and continue to on a regular basis
Paolo Calabria I don't think so...the retards are the fools who pay double and triple the normal prices for merchandise, instead of ignoring these asshats that gouge consumers, and letting them collect dust on their merchandise instead of huge amounts of money and laughing all the way to the bank. Don't buy anything and see how long they keep their gouging in place.
Paolo Calabria by the way ..kiss my white ass you pos and obammy voter.
What is pos you fucking moron?
Excellent vid.I really
appreciate the possibility of leaving some on the retail shelf for the " kid scenario of a first time shooter".
That was nice of you! selling your own ammo, that is really contributing for the shooters! thumbs up on all you doing!! cheers from sweden.
Don't know if you know this, Eric, but Binary Targets are now Legal in Canada. It's a win for us.
Not at ranges.
In Ontario.
Well said... help your friends and neighbors... stick together... also... the Binary from USA was fantastic!!!
.22 is drying up for two reasons.
I heard through some gun chats that ammo manufactories don't make that much of a profit on .22 ammo. So, raising the price is the only option.
Preaching. Funny you use that term as some consider that capitalism has turned into a religion.

This is true.
Hey guys thanks for continuing gun gripes, it's a great series and it will defiantly keep Barry on the mind.
I love that non-edit near the end of the video when you can hear the siren go by!
I work in the mining industry here in Australia.. And when we r in close proximity to the pit when they r blasting they tell us to evacuate the area if that orange smoke drifts our yw as it is highly karsanagenic... I well looked like a lot of fun tho :)
That uncut when the fire truck went by had me rolling for some reason lol
Probably one of the best explosions I've seen on RUclips.
Good job Eric!
Im from Australia we have a saying "good on my mate" well good on ya mates for keeping ammo for the future shoters as you say more power to you
i dont get to watch thtese videos as often as i was used to due to lack of time but still i sometimes get to watch em and i always enjoy it :) Thanks for keeping this up.
greets from germany !
