Look at how effortlessly he moves his bow; and it's such a rich tone. I cannot describe how I feel when this man plays. This is such a breathtaking instrument.
Violin teacher: Listen to 3 different people play this and see how they all take different perspectives on it. Me, a violinist: *listens to cello players*
Very technical and beautiful at the same time, especially in the minor keys. You played it brilliantly. I have played this piece, and it intrigues me. Bach is the best.
Maisky is the soul of the cello... which to me is the soul of the orchestra. Some might criticize his vibrato but it accompanies his characterization and emotion so well that the performance would be somewhat dull (certainly lacking) without it.
He's 61 years old... it's not like you'd expect him to r.i.p. any day now. And he's a musician, a great one... maybe that will give him 40 years more, out of which he should keep playing for at least 35 of them:)
I heard The Brook Street Band play this on r4 yesterday. Not really a classic fan but I play the bass guitar and found this tune just singing to some thing inside me. I've been watching all sorts of cellists on you tube playing Bach's cello suite. I love em. Even been watching a bit of Nigel Kennedy too. Have I become a nerd now? lol
Who cares how difficult it is to play this piece????? The importancy is the quality of the music and how well it speaks to people who likes it! Greetings from sweden!
same i think he modified the bowing i play suzuki violin.i have memorised the peace its not that difficult you just have to play it a bit and listen to the CD and then its quite easy
Bach wasn't always explicit about his bowing. A lot of the cello suites were left open to interpretation other than the notes. There are different versions, all with slightly different bowings.
The Pieces In Suzuki Violin are slightly modified from the Original Cello version. But the beauty of Bach is putting your own Variations to make the piece sound better. Yo Yo Ma plays the Cello Suites in a different way than Mischa Maisky does.
Absolutely incredible! What great control of the bow hand. Beautiful phrasing and intonation. Mischa's playing has captured Bach's soul. I am learning so much from watching him play these suites. Thanks for posting this video!
This is one of the world's greatest compositions and this musician's interpretation is excellent. For a comparison, check out Yo Yo Ma's tremendous recordings of the Bach cello suites, perhaps the current standard ... but Mischa Maisky here deserves props, this is a fine version.
Try it on a viola. Or put viola strings on a violin. My 10-year -old, having passed grade 5 violin, strung her 3/4 violin with viola strings and narrowly passed grade 5 viola the same term!!!!
I think that when someone harshly criticises another they have, in so doing, said goodbye to any spiritual understanding of great music. "Backbiting quencheth the light of the heart, and extinguisheth the life of the soul" - Bahá'u'lláh
this fellow is astounding.. hes absolutely THE CELLO..while playing.. thats why hes not looking or is making 'faces'. enjoy.. world class playing and interpretation. i know good music and players.. in the 60s i shared the stage with clapton, jefferson airplane and a lot others.. so if youre thinking this guy is odd.. WRONG.. look, appreciate and enjoy a SOULFUL performance by a world class playier.... :) 60's rocker
cello requires max skill comparred to guitar. i fell in love with the guitar version but when i heard jethro tull i realized i had to speed it up a bit and after that, it sounded happy instead of sad
Amazing, the music it absolutly incredible. i want to learn this and the Minuets for chello. i have admired your work for years. it has been my drive to learn violin, viola, and of course cello. i am now finishing viola and begining cello.
When i saw this video, i was amazed. I wanted to play it for myself. So i tried it. This is actually better than Cello Suite 1. I will used this for my audition to Booker T. Washington High for The Academy Visual Arts. I hope i get in!!
I used to play viola, but it was actually a violin- only strung as a viola. I knew someone who had a smooth antique viola and it sounded so much amazingly better than my violin-ola.
i am just starting this piece. i have been playing around 2 years (i am 19.. started late, i know =( ) but it makes me excited hopefully one day i can express myself musically like that...
I played this last year for the Solo and Ensemble and it was honestly so terrible. I love the piece but I messed up so much, and I really wanna try again

I play the french horn and listen to cellists, you're not the only one haha
Same
I've watched a few videos with this piece, but I like this interpretation best.
The unaccompanied Bach suites are easy to play for amateurs and hard to play for professionals, so I can understand why you might think this is easy
Very technical and beautiful at the same time, especially in the minor keys. You played it brilliantly. I have played this piece, and it intrigues me. Bach is the best.
I'm playing this for an audition on bassoon and I must say it sounds very beautiful on both bassoon and cello. :)
4:29 looks like he’s stabbing a demon at the end😂
😂😂😂😂 that will never be unseen again
😂

He's feeling it!
+Christian Deleón thats what kinda all music is about i think
The Combination of his hair, his beard and his beautiful playing, this man is a legend

Bravo , sou aprendiz no Cello sei como e difícil tocar esse instrumento ele e um artista expõe todo sua emoção😍
wonderful music and tremendous player
So beautiful. It makes me miss playing cello all the more.

serious locks on this man. mad respect
This is my favorite movement form the Bach cello Suite 3. It is just so bouncy and playful! 😊
I like this dude's videos for two reasons. 1. He is making great music. 2. His fro is fun to watch.
Who cares how difficult it is to play this piece????? The importancy is the quality of the music and how well it speaks to people who likes it!
Greetings from sweden!
Just watching it tells me the huge difference between violin and cello. Sound and bowing.
+ShinyTrainerGod I think he might've changed the bowing from the original song, but IDK, I play Violin.
same i think he modified the bowing i play suzuki violin.i have memorised the peace its not that difficult you just have to play it a bit and listen to the CD and then its quite easy

I play the cello 🎻 the emoji is a violin or a viola...
This is one of the most beautiful pieces of music I have ever heard in my life...

Great version of the Bourée I @PyAs
Absolutely beautiful!

Yes, well said! Mischa is a bit underrated, especially when compared to Yo Yo Ma
Certifié intergalactique! La meilleure Bourrée!
La meilleure sure
Jaime trop celui la
This is what I wake up to every morning. Not a bad alarm tone, if you ask me.
Same here.
It make you feel like taking a trip into ur imagination it have a calm and luxurious feeling to it,hearing this reminds me of the movie Titanic.
I played this Bourree as a solo on the violin, and this variation sounds just as good!!!!!!!!!!!!:)
Try it on a viola. Or put viola strings on a violin. My 10-year -old, having passed grade 5 violin, strung her 3/4 violin with viola strings and narrowly passed grade 5 viola the same term!!!!
I play bass guitar so i dont know what the hell this guy is doing but it amazes me!
Same but I also play violin! BASS FOR LIFE!
i only play violin
I play violin and also play in a youth orchestra, so I kind of know what he’s doing
@@danielrose6418 u can play this on the violin :)
I am
I play on my (natural!) teeth. This is a hard one to play, tough once you get the hung of it.... I take a piece of cake!
Best cellist.
Yes I agree!
Pablo Casals
i'm so happy i picked the cello!!!!!!!!
I´ve been listening to all parts of the 3 first cello-suites (and continuing with the rest after this), but so far, this is the best part.
I think that when someone harshly criticises another they have, in so doing, said goodbye to any spiritual understanding of great music. "Backbiting quencheth the light of the heart, and extinguisheth the life of the soul" - Bahá'u'lláh
It's a fantastique performer. i love his playing.
superb player....i like his feelings...it's so real and natural....
this fellow is astounding.. hes absolutely THE CELLO..while playing.. thats why hes not looking or is making 'faces'. enjoy.. world class playing and interpretation.

Потрясающе!😁
Sublime.

cello requires max skill comparred to guitar. i fell in love with the guitar version but when i heard jethro tull i realized i had to speed it up a bit and after that, it sounded happy instead of sad

Did you get in??
Seen Sivies they are gonna send letters of who got in. So i don't know yet.
tiya caldwell do you know now?
Great playing i particulary liked the tempo and the dynamics with which you played this piece. Great
Unlike many other parts of the Unaccompanied Cello Suites, this one does not seem to create its own accompaniment.
Artistic. Perfect. If I could nitpick, a little too forward. Perfect. Perfect.
Listened with some pets. Bravo!!
I've been playing the treble recorder version of this and it works really well.
완전 쪼아!!!😆
when you love bourrée more than prelude....
Nice
I'm playing this for a solo at my school for my orchestra ;-;
Cello players on youtube:

Very well filmed wery good performans.
Who is only here because of a ring tone and your 80 year old Father's, Music appreciation class at Mississippi Valley State...60 yrs ago?
I used to play viola, but it was actually a violin- only strung as a viola. I knew someone who had a smooth antique viola and it sounded so much amazingly better than my violin-ola.
I really like the extra note you added at 0:28. It adds so much more to the piece! :D
1:06 he also adds the open G & C strings as well
este tipo es uno de los mejores
i absolutely love this!
Thanks for uploading!
i am just starting this piece. i have been playing around 2 years (i am 19.. started late, i know =( ) but it makes me excited hopefully one day i can express myself musically like that...

Minecraft Diamonds I did an exam a month ago for violin! 🎻 Do you play cello?
@EriKdaG00Dgai The saxophone & the cello are a beautiful combination :)
I played this last year for the Solo and Ensemble and it was honestly so terrible. I love the piece but I messed up so much, and I really wanna try again
goodluck
Practice extra hard and you'll get it. :)
I chocked once on my solo for Solo and Ensemble once too. Feels bad, but all we can do is get up and use it for motivation.
same, I messed up mine as well but I’m definitely gonna give it another go
Amazing. Im doing that song for my violin solo.
semplicemente strepitoso!!!!!!*_*
so beautiful...almost enigmatic yet elegantly tranquil €¦
just had to cry because I played it 7 years ago...
I'm am trying to learn this song for my solo coming up in may. I use this as my reference to see if i'm on the right path :) Thank you!
ok....... this is not to show off, but to enjoy the music.
-The Balance- ;)...so amazing
Bowing is so very important. It makes up the majority of one's sound.
Playing this for an audition. I use it for reference too xD.
you are completely right!!!..
