And we were warmed about the effects of the military industrial complex like 100 years ago and nobody gives a shit. @Marik Ishtar How is it not socialism?
@Marik Ishtar From Forbes "Here is what both large corporations and everyday people will received:
Individuals who earn $75,000 or under that amount will receive direct payments of $1,200. Married couples who earn up to $150,000 will get $2,400.
On top of this, $500 per child will be added to that number.
About 90% of Americans would be eligible to receive full or partial payments.
Unemployment benefits will be greatly enhanced. This includes extending unemployment insurance by 13 weeks along with an additional $600 per week, over and above what the recipient would receive from their state program. They’d be eligible for 39 weeks of unemployment benefits.
The program will includes, for the first time, freelancers, furloughed employees and gig-economy workers.
This program is estimated to cost roughly $250 billion.
Roughly $367 billion in federally-guaranteed loans have been allocated to a program to help small businesses. They could obtain loans-that would be forgiven-if they don’t layoff workers for a specified time period.
On the corporate side, troubled companies will have access to money from a Federal Reserve Bank controlled $425 billion fund. An extra $75 billion will be made available for loans and grants to airlines and hotels.
$100 billion is available to hospitals and health systems.
About $25 billion is set aside for food stamps and nutrition for children.
Emergency education funding for colleges and universities, states and school districts amounts to $30 billion.
Student loans payments will be suspended without penalty up to September 30.
This is not the end. Our politicians in Washington are working on an additional trillion-dollar, follow-up stimulus bill.
While the Care Act doesn’t directly match (Socialist Bernie) Sanders’ platform, it's eerily similar in that an almost unimaginable amount of money is being handed out to people and companies. A big difference is that many of the industries, such as the airlines and aircraft manufacturers, will be bailed out.
These companies are being rewarded for their poor management decisions-including self-enrichment due to stock buybacks and arrogantly not putting money away for a crisis-that came to light in the wake of the coronavirus. " You know exactly what you would have called this if a President Hillary had endorsed it..SOCIALISM!

Ironically enough, real Medieval kings did think that liberty was a good incentive for economic development. That's why they gave charters for cities that ruled themselves and paid lip service to the king so long as they paid their fair share of taxes. Cities have self-appointed magnates ruling them, as opposed to landed nobles and their estates.
HolyknightVader999 This is true!!! Tragically the Wars of the Reformation nearly destroyed Germany (which had the most free cities) and Germany went backwards..
And that was the problem with the Reformation. People always think it was a case of the good Protestants fighting against the evil Popes, yet the Popes in those days couldn't harm a kitchen mouse and the main combatants were either rebellious nobles and kings who used Protestantism as a cause for war, or Catholic kings and nobles trying to put the former group down and keep the peace. As much of a hard man Philip II of Spain was, he was just defending his turf. Even his invasion of England was due to Elizabeth I turning England Protestant against the wishes of her late sister Mary I of England, who was Philip's wife before her death. Technically, he was the king of England when Mary I was alive.
As a Dane it was first when I entered university, that I actually learned how insane many of the protestants were. Sure the catholic church was corrupt, but the reformation was a completely disproportionate response to that corruption.
The equivalent would have been for the Italians to remove Berlusconi and replace him with the Taliban.
+Artemisia
The most the Church deserved at the time of the Reformation was new leaders. And ironically enough, some of the most honest reformers remained Catholic. Thomas More and Desiderius Erasmus both harshly criticized the flaws of the Church, but dogmatically, they remained Catholic.
And the "corruption" in the Church at the time was purely monetary. Even corrupt Popes and churchmen still gave money to the poor. The Protestants, on the other hand, were less likely to give to the poor as many began to believe in predestination. They still coveted the riches of the Church, though, but instead of giving it to the poor they either sold the property of the Church to the highest bidder or kept it for themselves. They were more corrupt than the Popes they wanted to overthrow. And the Popes at that time were guys like Leo X and Clement VII. Guys who couldn't harm a kitchen mouse. Popes like Alexander VI and Julius II were power-hungry, but their ambitions were kept in check-by Italian princes who remained solidly Catholic.
The Taliban allegory hits home hard. Many hardcore Protestants might as well have been Jihadists. No wonder Catholic monarchs like Philip II were so hardcore against them.
Except the most powerful nation in Europe was France, Scandinavia was behind in every meassure except militarily, and the only "protestant" nation worthy of note during that time was GB, which incidentally weren't lutheran, but merely just the catholic church separated from the vatican.
You have 200 hundred years of catholic dominance before the protestants got "ahead".
"I was just going to write a letter. That's fucked up Arya!" I lost it right there. I couldn't stop laughing!

@@DaDunge No, they don't. They claim they do because the majority of Americans appears to be uninformed enough about Scandinavia to really for the "this is socialism" scheme but in reality, Scandinavian countries rank similar and even higher on the economic liberty scale than most US States thus making Scandinavia more CAPITALIST than the US, not more socialist. Democrats always look at the welfare system and ignore where the money comes from and the policies they advocate for more and more restrictions on the free market. Sweden for example did indeed try something one could call Democratic socialism but that was in the past century and it failed miserably like socialism always does, see Venezuela which also had something one might identify as Democratic socialism. Due to the economic failure of socialism and the resulting bad mood in the population, Democratic socialism only works for a very short time before it drops one of the two terms. In Sweden, we were lucky and dropped the socialism part whereas Venezuela was less lucky and dropped the Democratic part. Do not be stupid and believe that what the far left wants is a 1:1 copy of the Scandinavian model (for Norway, it is even impossible, they have a huge amount of oil income per capita which is impossible in the US and without it, they would look far less impressive, not to mention that huge oil profits and the Green New Deal do not really go hand in hand if yo want to be honest and not just virtue signal). Sweden, as I said, has a free market and even the welfare system becomes less and less sustainable and only worked for so long because the population was very homogeneous which is not the case in the US. Some idealists do not bother to really take a closer look at the things and ignore circumstances that do not fit their agenda.

Also, you want to see what happens when the principle as described is put into action? Compare a city with planned roads to one without. The planned one is significantly more orderly and navigable. The other one might be more interesting, and locals can get around, but from an outside perspective, the planned one is obviously going to be superior for actual navigation.

Rationing meat, wood, and coal would actually save lives in multi-decade winter
Typically this is done poorly on a state level and artificially inflats prices causing people to be unable to access this food.
if your society is like literally on the brink of collapse, then I agree that rationing might be necessary in order to put resources toward the effort of surviving. this is basically what nations do when they enter into a war economy. however in the event that you have time to innovate, you really should (even in a high-stress situation). because economics is a race and having a stronger economy allows you far more leeway in the future.

Yeah because a wall was there to protect people
This is why the libertarian to fascist pipeline is so well-worn. Some realized that in a crisis situation, a state is necessary, and they want one that will protect private property. Libertarians don't actually care about liberty, property is their #1 priority, else they would be anarchists. This is why everyone outside of murica calls right-libertarians propertarians.
ハゲタカ 6 2 9文化 yeah what this guy is thinking about is anarchism lol. Not to mention if he wants to talk about walls libertarians don’t hold power that’s why we have a bunch of big government thugs from the right and left who want open borders not to mention they want to provide tax dollars to those people coming across. Either we can have a fairly open border in terms of who we let in or we can have a little welfare and social programs designed to help the down trotted. Can’t have both. The wall wasn’t designed to keep the free folk out either it was designed for the whites and had magic infused in it to do so. The free folk could always come over as long as they did so through the gate
The free folk aren't libertarian in actuality. They're more anarchist than anything.
It's not the organized society they needed, it was the wall.
Reason is amazing.
"Porcupine humping a pile of money." - 2017
Mawgan S. It would be if it weren't left libertarian
More "Cosmopolitan Libertarian"
dondoes969 That's code for Left Libertarian lol
@timothy
I use to know a regressive in Libertarian clothing, at my work. Every stance he had boiled down to "but no body cares" when countered with personal responsibility, property ownership, and meritocracy, my response was "that is not how Libertarianism works".
I died at cofefe 😂 this is GREAT
"That's f**ked up, Arya!" LMAO, I'm crying I'm laughing so hard.
Arya is that veteran libertarian who is planning the counter-revolution before the revolution even gets here.
3:30 "The free folk... and their redheads" hahahaha
"So they built that wall.." god, I just about spit my coffee

Nest Neutrality: should ravens fly at the same speed ?
I greatly appreciate that you chose to edit a split-second of your head sliding off rather than just cutting to black a little bit earlier
Love the Wildlings explanation and really loved the political identifications on the map with the democrats and republicans
Nailed it Andrew. And to those pointing the technical issues with some of the things as to their accuracy to the books and show like the wall really being for the White Walkers, this is called satire, not a fan commentary
invisible hand lol
Is Grievous coming :0
I want more of this.
Not a libertarian but I do appreciate how you can be both sincere in your beliefs but also able to make fun of your side and are aware of how others see you and take it in stride
