Hey Hector - great video, thanks very much for taking all the time to create. So I just did the plugs this morning on my 2012 Sienna, slight differences between 2012 and 2011 (different airbox, ...). For those looking to replace plugs on 2012, the biggest challenge was undoing some of those clips, including coil on plug clips. The front 3 ignition coil clips all broke, probably from the exhaust heat right below but the back 3 clips did not break - but what a pain working them loose. I zip tied the front ones to lock them in. I also used dielectric grease when reinstalling the coils. While I had this open, replaced the intake manifold and throttle body gaskets as well as the rear 3 ignition coils since they are such a pain to get to. Will keep the 3 for backup if/when one of the front 3 fail. Last, I cleaned up the throttle body and intake with special cleaner as both were gummed up at this high mileage. Three new coils, 6 plugs, gaskets, throttle body cleaner cost a little under $200 (coils ~$150) and about 2-3 hours and I should be good for another 100K. Could not have done it without your excellent video - thank you.
I have the same year with over 380K miles and this van was brought brand new at the time, never had this done entire life and still drives very good. I don't plan to change it and probably drive it until it dies.
I am glad I watched this. Alldata wanted me to remove the wiper/cowl assy and disconnect the 2 coolant lines and remove the throttle body, which did not need to be done. That rear manifold bolt was a PIA. Thanks for the video it saved me some time!
You giving good love to that van 🖤 making sure it's better than it came in. Feel like that was an especially clean engine. Really good informative video.
Thanks for the Video. Helped me out a great deal. Didn’t need to pull out the rain tray as some other videos suggested. Those brackets behind the intake manifold took the longest. Making it a 5hr job. In addition to the stuff in this Vid. I changed the rear ignition coils and PCV valve at the same time. I also discovered oil in one of the front spark plug wells. Which may be due to bad spark plug tub seals. So I will be doing. Valve cover gasket and tube seals on that bank. This is on a 2011 Sienna with 116K miles.
Bro, you're the truth for real! You explain everything the most simplest, understanding, and effective ways. I just started following your work because it's the best I've seen in a while on RUclips. Keep it up brother. Also how can I purchase some of your merchandise?
Great video better than the same one someone else did and they took off the windshield cowl and tray on 2011 sienna just to have more room for the back 3 plugs/intake remove but I didn’t think that was necessary
Hey Hektor, great video. Great editing too. Tho did you replace the manifold gaskets as well? And also do you recomend changing the 3 coils on the back bank just so you avoid all that work if a coil goes out soon?
I did my sienna 2010 today and when I turn it on it was telling me 3-4 spark plugs were misfiring, and it started rough I made sure to follow every single step but now I don’t know what it could be. One thing the the cap broke from every ignition coil so none clicked back in when I put them but I made sure to put them tight, would that be the problem ?
Robert Canorro I can’t recall if I replaced it. Sometimes you can get away with not replacing it, but it’s always better to change it since you have everything off.
I have a 2011 Toyota Sienna XLE wit only 24,000 miles on it. Does it need new spark plugs because because of its age as it has not reached anywhere near 100,000 miles and is garage kept 365 days a year. Thanks
@homie hector hey I have a question I’m trying to knw the torque spec for a cylinder head on a 1999 Honda Accord 2.3l LX it’s a F23A4 engine I have a shop manual for it but it says for new head bolts which I’m putting on it says first 22ft lbs and second 90 degrees and third 90 degrees and fourth another 90 degrees and I’m wondering if this is the right torque spec for this car because I’m doing a cylinder gasket change and also I just want to make sure this is a correct torque so I did check google and bought a different book a chilton brand and it says the same and also I’m just scared I might cross thread or break the new bolts cause this is a pretty high torque so if u or any body can help me Wth this message me ASAP and I’m asking you because ur a technician like me u just want to make sure it’s correct Thts all
Ekos One Sounds about right, it’s about a 3 hr job. Depending on labor rate prices will vary. Here at Firestone the hourly rate is $130/hr then you throw parts on top of that. 🤦🏻♂️

I’m wondering if you’d do side jobs?

@@HomieHektor Another great one - thank you! No doubt I'll soon be calling these things 'chingadera'.... Take care Homie Hektor!
Very good suggestion! I will definitely replace the PCV and coils on the back bank while I've got it apart.

Yes, I agree on these Spark Plugs they don’t wear out and last long.
Nice job Hektor, you saved me the trouble of removing the wipers and hardware. Great video and tips!

Thanks Homie Hektor , now I think I can do this...! Buena actitud i liked.
Thanks for your experience and instruction. God blessing you
I finished yesterday my 2012 Sienna 3.5 V6. My only problem was I had no clear info about torque specs.
Hey man for $200, I would much rather have you do it!! Homie
@CNC O
F-yeah that's what I'm saying!
3:57 yes, keeping the bracket attached to the manifold makes the job easier than removing the top bolt.
Good job homie!! U are the man.
I like all the repair videos you do.

Make sure every time you remove intake. You cover the holes so nothing drops into the valves.
Eddy Garcia Good tip, Happy Thanksgiving Bro 🙏🏼
Thanks for video.
Haha my wife like me to play that game too🤣🤣👍
Avid Diaz Ha! You heard that 😆 thanks for watching Homie 🙏🏼

Thanks
Thank you very much for a great video! Did you remove the battery to gain space? Thx.
Hector can you explain what kind of service is required at certain intervals in a video.
Like every 3,000 or 3 months change your oil and so on
Hi H. ! Just want to know what kind
Spark plugs do u used in this van ?
dealer wants $475 for this service
time consuming as hell, but good job bro
Now they want $1200 just for freaking spark plugs WTF!?!?!

Was there a gasket on the manifold that you had to replace? My mechanic said he needs to replace it.
Good video! What about the intake gasket? I noted you did not replace it in your video. Is this something that even has to be done?
Robert Canorro I can’t recall if I replaced it. Sometimes you can get away with not replacing it, but it’s always better to change it since you have everything off.
Hector what kind of swivel with extension is that?
The long one with the 10mm is from SnapOn the ones for the spark plugs atom KD Tools 🤝

just replaced my plugs and didn't bother to put that bolt back

6:49 Hector NO!!! You didn’t just say that!

I change my spark plugs on my 2011 and now they turn check engine light and the trac off light do I have to reset it ??
What’s the price on a tune up for this van? I just asked for the price and the guy said $380. Because the intake has to b removed. I live in New York.
Ekos One Sounds about right, it’s about a 3 hr job. Depending on labor rate prices will vary. Here at Firestone the hourly rate is $130/hr then you throw parts on top of that. 🤦🏻♂️
What does it cost for a job like this?
so 2008 sienna Is it better to use Denso or NGK?
Hhhhhh I worked on mine it took me half day
Chingon how much you charge to replace sparkplug sienna 2014?
Hector how many miles on the van ? I have same one and I want to do it I am at 108K .
Leaving the intake passages open is asking for trouble. Vido is too fast to be helpful.
Isn't it wise to always replace 3 coil and 3 spark plugs brand new. Don't want to open up again if coils go bad.
Can you replaced mines I'm in Philadelphia?
👌👌
How much cost that job
I’d say like $300
Mas o Menos 👍🏼

I know you can’t do this cuz you’re working on a customers car , but I just throw those brackets in a better place, in the trash. Lol
