- Weird History presents Timeline 1993. We are going back to the middle part of the 90s and check the news, culture, sports, entertainment, and all that was weird with the 1990s. From the raid on the Branch Davidians to the attack of Monica Seles to Lorena Bobbitt becoming a household name, 1993 would have plenty of memorable moments.

What was the best thing about 1993?
Saturday night live cast
When my wife born at 10th of August. 😏
I graduated from high school and got away from the people I went to school with.
#1)The crack.
#2) maybe my kids
That would be me.
I like how "Timeline" has the actual commercial announcement before their RUclips ad, "We'll be right back after these messages.", just like old fashioned tv.
It was cool but the Chance part lmao wow good for him never heard of him in the 90s or early 2000
@@magicvampirelver1321 Chance seems like a great kid but doesn't belong in a video about events in 1993.
Now if you want to get REALLY old fashioned, I remember when people starring on the program would also do the commercials. For instance, Ed McMahon, Johnny Carson's sidekick on The Tonight Show used to do commercials for Alpo dog food right on the set!
@@retroguy9494 Shit, they brought that back with podcast's now. Joe Rogan was doing fake vagina's FFS.
@@Wallyworld30 Well, podcasts are a little different than commercial television. Advertising always HAS been the central focus of broadcasting on television due to the revenue it generates.
These episodes need to be 40 minutes long... So many gems missed every year.
Wow. I turned 12 on the same day "The X-Files" debuted.
That show was *WAY* ahead of its time.
Just like you!
I was lucky enough to see Jurassic Park in the theaters on opening weekend. It was one of the defining moments of my childhood. It doesn't feel that long ago...
It never does seem as long as it's actually been...take my word for it.
So did I. I just knew it was a movie I had to see, aged 7.
I'll trade you that ridiculously in depth mention of Chance the Rapper for the more culturally significant Saved By the Bell finale (May 22, 1993)
Yeah, that was out of place, he must be a fan of his. Their so many better rappers he could of included.
Yeah, of ALL the Timelines, I thought that part was odd and kind of jarring to be honest.
This show is supposed to be about iconic events in the featured year. Even if Chance the Rapper was the most beloved music star today (He clearly isn't) in 1993 Chance was just as irrelevant as any of us in this comment section. Nothing against Chance but he doesn't belong in a Remember 1993 show.
Who gave a shit about chance lol
I was like "wtf mate"?
In 1993 I was 14. I started high school. I picked up a guitar for the first time. Still playing every day 27 years later. After '93 the next few years were going to be amazing. It was a wonderful time to be a teenager.
If you don't remember high school being awful, you were probably a jerk.
We are the same age MrPhilm00r. 👍 It was a great time to be alive. I was also really into music because of all the free music Cd’s i got from BMG.
@@50PullUps First two years were awful. I got along better with underclassmen. My class were mostly douchebags. I started junior high in September of 93.
lol, I graduated class o '93. I was soooo happy to be done with that bs. :-)
@@50PullUps far from it.
Steve Harveys face talking to Lorena Bobbit was priceless.
X-Files was the best part of 1993. I was 11 and my dad and I would watch it together. Such a great show.
That commercial for captain crunch was hilarious
“Good thing captain crunch has a fax machine” lmfao 🤣
My memory of 1993 was everything on tv was filmed in Oregon. Literally every show was in a rainy forest.
@Pale Big Booty white girl I like your name.... what are you doing next Friday?
That fit nicely with the Grunge music seen.

Timeline is the best series in your channel. I love the presentation; it's not boring, and the pleasant voice-over is like a more fascinating version of evening news reporting in the 90s.
Love these!!!! Please keep it up.

One of the most significant moments of '93 for me was River Phoenix's death... RIP sweet boy
Yeah they definitely left out a lot of stuff

It's not

It's absolutely not, wtf 😂
Love your content. Thanks for all the hard work!
93 was a year I'll never forget. First year of high school. The hundred year flood of 93 on the Mississippi. We were evacuated out of our house. Grandparents and Friends lost their homes. We lived in a FEMA camp. Boy I really miss the big mouth mountain dew liter bottles.
1993 Best moment for me, my second daughter was born at 32 weeks in July and only stayed 3 weeks in the NICU before coming home! Worst moment of 1993, losing my Grandpa Sena less than a month before my second daughter was born. He and I were tight. He showed me how to be a man. RIP Grandpa Fernando Sena 1922-1993 💔🙏🏽
Both of those events deserved a spot in this video as the birth of Chance the Rapper.
@@Wallyworld30 whst about ariana grande she seems more important lol
@@nirvanamemoria4536 How about the Release of the Atari Jaguar??? The last console officially released by Atari??
@@nirvanamemoria4536 True, more people know Ariana Grande than "Chance" the Rapper. That made no sense.
I graduated high school that year!
You left out Power Rangers debuting which became a pop culture icon for almost 3 decades.
That should of been in there instead of Chance🙄👎dude is no legend at all that's more of a legend what your talking about

In terms of 1993.... Animaniacs. A show so good that when it comes back exactly the same in the modern day but with some minor changes that people get pissed because they forgot that it was genuinely what it was like.
Even the Bugs Bunny cartoon was almost too mature and witty for kids, I need to watch the rest of that series it was dynamite.
@@Turtleproof Oh god, yeah. They're doing a drop of new stuff on the 29th.
I was 22 yrs old in 1993 & I used to watch Animaniacs with my Mom. We loved that cartoon.
And let's not forget a shout out to "Freakazoid"
@@onecoolcat2478 Yes, but that was 1995, I believe.
I can't believe it, how could weird history not pay tribute to the premier of one of the most defining pop culture aspects of 1993 and the 90s, the Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers!!!
While I agree that it had an incredible impact... I would not watch MMPR again even if you paid me. I was VERY blinded by nostalgia until I saw it again.

That cpt. Crunch commercial touched something deep in the recesses of my mind.
This series is one of my most looked forward to videos on all of RUclips
"Say man, were you a kid in the 1990's?"
"No, no I wasn't"
"It'd be a lot cooler if you were!"
Alright alright alright
Honorable mention: Nirvana performed MTV Unplugged in New York November 18, 1993
One of the greatest live recording of all time!
These days Matthew McConaughey’s character would be all over the news for dating high school girls. 😂😂😂
"That's what I love about these high school girls, man. I get older, they stay the same age"

Watch the leather man.
Or he'd be elected to Congress from Florida.
Not his fault they all stay the same age
One of two best years for me, my wonderful son was born in 93, my beautiful daughter in 97.
Funny. My daughter was born in 93. And my son 97 :)
Great, now i have 2 moms now since i was born in 93
I'm the same age as your son, I was born in 93 also
I feel weird for not knowing the exact details about Brandon Lee's death. The whole 'accidental live ammo' thing always seemed suspect to me and the full explanation really clears it up.
Agreed. Hindsight is 20/20
I still have suspicions about his death. It very well could have happened that way, but it also could be a very clever cover up too.
I was 21 in 1993, and it was one of the best years of my single life. It is actually one that I would like to live again.
Did anyone even get in trouble for it?
@@cassiecraft8856I agree 💯 I was 25 and it was one of the best I remember.

It kills me thinking about how much more time has passed since it's release and now than the time it was set and it's release. I remember watching it when it came out and the 70s seemed so far away.
It's pretty much a perfect movie
Be a lot cooler if you did
You forgot the premieres of two iconic cartoons, Animaniacs (premiered September 13, 1993) and Rocko’s Modern Life (premiered September 18, 1993).

1993 was when the Toronto Blue Jays made it back-to-back titles in the World Series, capped off by a Joe Carter home run to left field. The call for it was epic as well. "Touch 'em all, Joe! You'll never hit a bigger home run in your life!"
That was a huge omission from this.
Now I gotta watch it again for the millionth time.
I heard rumors that Mitch Williams paid an enclosed amount to TIMELINE to NOT bring ANY of THAT up in the video...
@@matthaeusprime6343 they didn’t show it because it’s not American 🙄
Not even a mention of the World Series in the 1991 edition either - possibly the best World Series ever. I'm guessing the only time baseball news is more important than the birth of "Chance the Rapper" is if the Yankees are involved.
93 was the year I met my husband.. we were 14 and I was his first girlfriend ❤️ his eyes were crystal blue and he was the cutest ever. We were so shy. We got married in 2019 at age 40. He is my soulmate I never stopped loving this man. 1993 great year

Remember, what you hear here is simply another opinion of what happened. It could have happened another way just as easily.
I enjoyed the 90s music that started during the RBG clips! That's what I call a snappy, 90s background jamming tune!
I like the little windows 3.1 movie player screens. 1993 was a great time to be 9 years old! Unless you got invited to Neverland Ranch of course

It's still a great movie. I actually watched it in Jr. High science class back in 93 or 94
Me as well! First movie I ever saw in a movie theater!

I still have never owned an MP3 player. I STILL burn CD's! LOL
I heard of it that year, my dad and his friend were both nerds (the friend passed away). I didn't think much of it when I heard him explaining it and when it was first brought to the public, I sorta thought it was just a fad... kinda wish it was but alas...
I don't think it's a coincidence that the arrival of the internet and the slow demise of rock music and the uprise of cancel culture go hand in hand. I'll give it to Bill Burr for recently saying that in the 80s, things weren't good, but at least we all acted like everything was great. I miss the 80s... even the 90s were better than now.
I'm shocked there was no mention of Barney and Power Rangers debut. Pretty big pop culture moments. Just goes to show how jammed back with pop culture 1993 has.
I used to think 1993 was such a dull year, but watching this convinced me that it actually holds a lot of moments in history.
Just make the video longer. No reason to leave anything that big, out.
Yes, it would have been more relevant to put those things in instead of doing a senseless mini biography on a Rapper named "Chance", simply because 1993 was the year he was born.
Barney came out the previous year in 1992, Power Rangers was technically 92 as well if you count its original Super Sentai Japanese counterpart Zyuranger. It didn't air in the States as Power Rangers until 1993.
