I asked a book re-binding company what they would charge for creating an interleaved Bible out of an existing Bible. They basically said that they could not see rebinding it as one volume if one used typical 20# typing paper or ruled paper. It would just be too thick. I guess that would be the eventual problem with this method in the video. And in the case of rebinding as a custom, interleaved Bible, you're talking about somewhere in the neighborhood of a $200, very bulky Bible (you've just created your own Lecturn Bible ). The saving grace is that there are probably sections of the Bible where one would find the existing margins to be sufficient and so maybe a fully interleaved Bible is not necessary but only in the sections where one has intense note-taking. How to anticipate the right sections might be the tricky part in a book binding project. And then there's always the Jonathan Edwards "Miscellanies" method: have a separate, high quality plain paper notebook with a Table of Contents you build over time and flag the notes as M001, M002.. M00x etc then write the note reference in corresponding passages in your Bible. Several people comment on that notetaking method here on YT. Thanks to Katie for inspiring further thinking about options.

why not just cut sheets of paper to 5.5 inches x8.5 inches (1/2 sheet of US Letter paper) or 7.5 x 8.5 (1/2 sheet US Legal) and call it a day? Will you ever really add text to full margins top and bottom on both sides of the page? one question is what kind of paper can one insert which is most resistant to bleed or opposite side ghosting? is there an ideal pen (ink?) + paper combo to minimize negative effects?
Yes, exactly… you can do that… measure out a bunch ahead of time. I don’t tend to add many blank sheets to a Bible all at once. It’s just as needed so I was just showing my typical process of adding a page quickly and easily. Of course, there are many other methods such as pre-measuring or creating a template. This is just what I find quick and easy. Since creating a new Bible, I haven’t once added a blank sheet of paper. I type up and create printed inserts with text and pictures to print out and add to my Bible. If you are interested, you’ll find the video of that process in a playlist on my channel. I am not understanding the last question in the first paragraph. Would you mind restating? I use regular copier paper I find at Walmart to add to my Bible. I personally haven’t found a better option that is reasonably priced.
@@biblenotetakingwithkatie thanks so much for your response ! >>Will you ever really add text to full margins top and bottom on both sides of the page?
My apologies, but is there any specific reason you did not simply measure it, then match your paper up accordingly to the linear measurements on the paper cutter? You’d also be able to cut a few sheets at a time.💭
Oh funny … It’s just the way I do it. ☺ Just make sure if you do two pages in a section that you remeasure.. the glue affects how far into the binding the page will push in.
I am more curious as to where you got your mini cutting table... I have been doing it the hard way for ages.. using scissors.. and often the pages end up un even... what is that device called..?.and who makes it.?.. can I buy it off Amazon?..
@@jeffcarlson3269 Sorry for the delay. They labeled it a "paper trimmer". I've only ever heard it called a paper cutter... but I was able to find it at the online Walmart store: www.walmart.com/ip/Westcott-Carbo-Titanium-Narrow-Body-Paper-Trimmer-9-White-for-Craft-1-Count/973898660
That is definitely an option. I have seen that method but didn’t want the bulk. I also feel tape takes away some of the inner margin you can write on. And I also like that the glue is temporary so I can change my mind.
What happened to your Flip Through Your Bible video? I found and printed a lot of the visuals you had but now I don't know where you had placed some of them?
I'm so sorry about that! I ended up deleting it. I thought it had so much "dead" space in it. (I hadn't thought about people using it to find visuals for their Bible) I have a new Bible I'm setting up with all the inserts and actually a lot more inserts. I am planning to video tape all of those visuals / inserts. I think it will end up being a more helpful video in the long run!! But I really should have left that other one up until then.
@@shelleykelly5605 you can email or write any questions you have here. I do want to let you know that I am filming the video on all the inserts that are in my Bible this week. The video should post on Sunday, April 16th... that may be the easiest thing for you. BUT keep me posted.
Hello.... With each one, if I decide I want a chart or picture, I google for it. .I might put into the search "descendants of Noah" and then just scroll through until I find the one I want. In this video, I show an example of what I do (you can jump to 0:32 and I show myself googling for an image and then at 1:44 I show myself finding a genealogy for Jesus)... let me know if I misunderstood you and you're asking me something different...
also I've noticed sometimes if you go back to find the same image it might be that the poster may have removed the image because I can't find the exact image I found before... so I end up having to find something similar instead.
I just cannot get myself to write in my Bibles! I need to stop buying pretty Bibles and get a budget bible so I can write in them but the budget Bibles all have such small print that I cannot read them. Perhaps this method of adding pages is the solution. It is just so hard to use a notebook because you have to page around like crazy to find the corresponding notes.
Well, definitely it is personal preference… I know many people who don’t write in their Bible. But if you decide you are interested and need some words of encouragement… I think it’s all in reframing your mind… I have a Bible I don’t write in that stays pretty. It doesn’t have a margin for notes. Its purpose IS to stay pretty. and then This is my journal the word Bible. I think of it AS my “notebook” … sometimes I call it my “workhorse”. But its purpose is to write in and be messy. I’m currently in the process of transferring my notes into a new journal the word Bible / to neaten and organize my notes. I had played with the idea of keeping one Bible neat and organized and continue to use the old one to scribble in… but that defeats its purpose. As far as the glued in pages… if you add in too many pages you can ruin the binding… so just be careful with that.
Hi Katie, thank you for the reply. I will look at getting the thinnest possible paper to add to my bible. It is not that I think it is wrong to write in a Bible, but I just love my Bibles. I also understand that it is not about the physical book, but the Message within it's pages. May God bless you and keep making videos.
@@nikosadie that’s wonderful! If you find a link to a good thin paper, do you mind letting me know. I love adding inserts but the one that was recommended to me is no longer being made unfortunately
Just to clarify, as an aside, I personally don’t add blank sheets just to add sheets. I did that in this video just to show people the process. Whet I do is, as I have notes, I write or type them up, add glue stick to the edge and then add to the Bible. My preference is the typed notes with pictures.
Why don't you cut 1 piece properly, then use it as a template for all other pages you create? You can easily just mark with 2 dots on the new paper then cut, with that contr!ption you have lol
Yes, definitely, creating a template would work! I have created and used a template whenever I'm doing more than one in a row. Usually the first sheet I do becomes the template for any other pages I need. BUT, yea, you could also wonder why I don't have a pre-made template stored some where... and, to that, I can not respond. Things like that just end up getting squished around in my bookshelf. And it goes really fast to just stick the page in, bend the edges and cut. As far as this video, you could think of this video as showing people how to make a template for their Bible. LOL... whatever gives you peace 😃
I'm not sure what you mean by "two systems". I'm not sure if you can tell me anything more about what you are referring to... I'll be glad to give you more info.

I actually left a couple things out so I ended up making a part 2 to the video. It should play immediately after the one I linked for you. Thank you for reaching out!
I have just been using regular printer/copier paper... but it is a thicker paper than the Bible paper. One person said in these comments that you can buy Tomoe River Paper which is a lighter weight but I haven't tried it yet.
@@cindyeastbourn7642 yes, definitely. I’ve found the only time that doesn’t work is if you are gluing more than one page in to a spot because the second one will not go in as far. I personally just find it faster to stick the page in, make the bends, and then cut. (I also find it tricky to not trim the template 🤣)
Rather get a note book and journal in that way. A bible is not designed to be scribbled in. I regret doing it because a lot of the stuff I did has no meaning now. I wish I never started
Don't do this to your Bible. I have a bible which is 103 years old and started doing this. I realized afterwards what I had done. I ruined a very valuable rare addition and it's lost all it's value. 😢 And what a mess it is
My Bible isn’t rare or valuable. I consider this one the workbook/notebook… so instead of writing a passage over into a separate notebook, I’m writing a note next to scripture. I have other Bibles that I don’t write in though but I, personally, don’t tend to use those. My notes that guide me through the entirety of scripture have been so helpful.

@@biblenotetakingwithkatie
thanks so much for your response !
>>Will you ever really add text to full margins top and bottom on both sides of the page?
As an aside, I haven’t had an issue reading the pages as they are. Copier paper tends to be pretty thick.
Keep me posted if you find anything 💛

So smart
I saw the idea somewhere on youtube and it has been so helpful
My apologies, but is there any specific reason you did not simply measure it, then match your paper up accordingly to the linear measurements on the paper cutter? You’d also be able to cut a few sheets at a time.💭
Oh funny … It’s just the way I do it. ☺
Just make sure if you do two pages in a section that you remeasure.. the glue affects how far into the binding the page will push in.
What is pound I see 20 and 65 I am thinking 20 is closer to Bible paper but also wondering if 65 is too thick and too much bulk adding to the Bible
It is just the copier paper I find at walmart. I definitely would like to explore different weights but I haven’t yet.
Which bible are you using in this video please?
It’s this one but in the bonded leather (which seems to be on back order:

I am more curious as to where you got your mini cutting table... I have been doing it the hard way for ages.. using scissors.. and often the pages end up un even... what is that device called..?.and who makes it.?.. can I buy it off Amazon?..
It’s a paper cutter. It was at Walmart. They do have a bunch on Amazon.
@@biblenotetakingwithkatie is that what it is called.... paper cutter.....?.. what is the brand name...?..

@@jeffcarlson3269 you're welcome!
Use 1/8” double sided tape for easy insertion of paper.
That is definitely an option. I have seen that method but didn’t want the bulk. I also feel tape takes away some of the inner margin you can write on. And I also like that the glue is temporary so I can change my mind.
I had the same bible and interleaved every page……. Great idea but it destroyed the binding.
I only add pages as needed. Sorry that happened to your Bible!
@@biblenotetakingwithkatie yes I wish I would have only did it how you did.
@@tiffanymcphee4582 you can always get your bible rebound!(:
You can have your Bible rebound. They will include the pages you added.
If you let me know, what the picture is of I can let you know what part of the Bible I placed it in...
How should I let you know?
@@shelleykelly5605 biblenotetakingwithkatie@gmail.com
@@shelleykelly5605 you can email or write any questions you have here. I do want to let you know that I am filming the video on all the inserts that are in my Bible this week. The video should post on Sunday, April 16th... that may be the easiest thing for you. BUT keep me posted.
Where did you go for the printouts shown in the early OT as you were flipping through?
But if you decide you are interested and need some words of encouragement…
I think it’s all in reframing your mind…
I have a Bible I don’t write in that stays pretty. It doesn’t have a margin for notes. Its purpose IS to stay pretty.
and then
This is my journal the word Bible.
Hello I just started this in my bible but going slow cause I don't no if I will need them in every other page like numbers
LOL... whatever gives you peace
😃
Can you explain your two systems or send the link where you may have already explained them?
I'm not sure what you mean by "two systems". I'm not sure if you can tell me anything more about what you are referring to... I'll be glad to give you more info.
@@biblenotetakingwithkatie Okay you said this is my old system at time stamp 7:52 or 54; then you mentioned your color coding system - two systems? thanks
@@CarolynQui Ohhhh! My color coding system... you'll find that video here: ruclips.net/video/S926D2idtrs/видео.html
I love this system because I have a Bible verse or two for almost every color showing why I chose the color I did. It makes it easier for me to identify the color with a specific idea in my Bible.
My old system is just that a few colors that are slightly different but I do explain it in the above video. I actually left a couple things out so I ended up making a part 2 to the video. It should play immediately after the one I linked for you.
Thank you for reaching out!
What paper are you using
I have just been using regular printer/copier paper... but it is a thicker paper than the Bible paper. One person said in these comments that you can buy Tomoe River Paper which is a lighter weight but I haven't tried it yet.
Use that paper as your pattern
@@cindyeastbourn7642 yes, definitely. I’ve found the only time that doesn’t work is if you are gluing more than one page in to a spot because the second one will not go in as far.
I personally just find it faster to stick the page in, make the bends, and then cut.
(I also find it tricky to not trim the template 🤣)
❤
Rather get a note book and journal in that way. A bible is not designed to be scribbled in. I regret doing it because a lot of the stuff I did has no meaning now. I wish I never started
My goal is to only write tie stuff that has meaning.
@@penelopehodge-vx8wm
I think, IF you do it, do it in pencil, and date it
Don't do this to your Bible.
@@penelopehodge-vx8wm I feel like a bibles value is always the owners opinion. Idk how I feel about discussing a bibles value either.
