The stallion down the road wasn't the one that pursued my mare. She was alwsys the one escaping her pastures. We were lucky that it was just to visit and have someone to play with. We never ended up with a foal, but we had lots of mile long walks home talking about boys.
Jami, I laughed when Sadie took her siesta when you showed us the horses interacting with the "other" girls. Yes, the horse trailer is blocking the best view of that corner. An occasional donkey nay always puts a smile on my face. Thanks for not yelling over their voices like LESTER does ;). If you haven't had the 5 hr medical procedure yet, I'll pray for your comfort. Jami I've had and been around horses my whole life, the best preventive treatment for horses hooves inside and out is used motor oil. When you have alot of Rain, apply it every other day. The rest of the time to be on the safe side, once every week and a half. If the horse has hoof issues, just apply to the outside of the hoof and treat the issue with Vet recommended medication. This is an old timers solution that works great, I always used old Tractor oil.
Hey, Jami! I love it when they recognize their name like Pearl just did! I always try to watch them when y’all say their name and I have caught quite a few responses. When a Longhorn knows it’s name, you have a very smart, spoiled rotten baby! 😀 We love y’all so much❣️
If you notice the girls " flashing" be extra careful as the mares will be in full estrus. The boys next door WILL take notice then. Just seeing and listening to a stallion will bring the mares into season. When we breed our mares a teaser stallion is walked by their stalls and pastures several times a day to excite the mare before she meets her chosen paramour. So please don't think distance is enough.

When I was a young teenager I called it 'reckless eye-balling' aka checking out the boys. 'Window-shopping with zero plans to purchase any windows'. Mother would ask if I thought any particular guys were cute. Horses are smart and curious. Maybe they are smart because of their curiosity.

One more thought! A line ir 2 of electric fence would keep the donkeys away. Solar fences work well!

You should use an old clear shower curtain for Sadies doggie door so she can still see the cows, also it won't get mould on it as quickly as fabric.
