This is the most underrated new color of the super-granulating ranges. It is a superb addition to the palette. When first seeing the Volcano range I thought it the least useful of the ranges but I have found them to be very useful, especially this yellow. I would never consider the so-called blotchiness a problem - it gives a very natural look to things like the yellow wall in your painting, so for me, blotchy qualities is a big plus.
I didn't want another subscription esp. about watercolour or painting in general. because I have a lot of everything anyway and I am looking up a lot as well. but I have noticed, you are the only one, making the effort to review and test out these one by one. which I really love. so, today I did subscribe
Really love your videos on the technical properties of these brands and colors 🎨👏 Thank you for your dedication to making it all available to us, especially for beginners to learn from. Your process and demos make it much simpler to understand than books or many other people and delves deeper at the same time.
So I went to the art store and bought the half pans of Volcano red and yellow, and just did a color study of them, and i have to say I'm super happy to have a heavy granulating red now in my palette!
Thank you for the video! I’ll definitely buy this one to try to make my own supergranulating mixes 😊 I’d love to see a video of you mixing this and volcano red with other granulating colours you might own, to see what cool supergranulating colour combinations you can come up with 😃
I bought half pans of the Volcano Yellow and Red and I was quite disappointed with them. They are both very dull and I had to scrub hard to get any colour out. I’m glad I didn’t buy more of the series. I might find them useful for mixing, which is what I bought them for, and together they make a decent orange. I did think I would love them more as individual colours and that they would rewet more easily…
I agree. I do find that they are more difficult to rewet from a pan and colours are not quite as vibrant. So far I have enjoyed them in mixtures. Try mixing them with other colours to get super separating or granulating mixture.
@@eurekawanders I will! I have remixed all super granulating colours except the ones that used these two, so I will finish this exercise now. I’m sure I’ll find use for them - and I know that my preferences change over time, so “future me” might love them 😎
Great Video!!!! Thanks for sharing ❤

🙌🏻 It’s really special. The yellow pigment separates out from mixtures fairly well.

In these Day,I’m researching about supergranulaion points and your videos are so useful. Thank you ❤😊
You are so welcome!

I think I’m falling in love with PY159. Thanks for this lovely video. I particularly like that you compared it to Winsor and Newton’s version.
Awesome. Thank you so much. Especially for mentioning / comparing the winsor one. Exactly what I was looking for. :)
This is so pretty. I love it.
Thanks Alice, very informative 👍
I hadn’t realised a few of these are responsible for mixing so many of the rest, it’s tempting.
Yeah. they reuse many of the colours for the volcano, desert and shire colors.

Yes granulating red and yellow paints were almost unheard of!

Watch out for the interesting combos in short videos! 😉
Wow I hadn’t thought of mixing it with the rose colours. Would be so good for dying/ageing rose petals when they get some blotchiness.
Ikr!
