- Bonus video with one more set to review; These are the Haze super granulation watercolors, which was an extra set that Schmincke released for Jackson's Art. What's the bet that you can get these in other places now, but to the best of my knowledge, they're only at Jackson's. It's where I bought my set anyway, lol!
So, what are these ones like? Were they easier to use than some of the other sets? Watch to find out!
I have reviewed all the other sets in previous videos as well...
Galaxy, Glacier and Deep Sea: • Schmincke Supergranula...
Forest and Tundra: • Schmincke Supergranula...
Volcano, Desert and Shire: • Schmincke Supergranula...

That indigo really is gorgeous for that misty background!
That was my favourite! 😊
If I were to break bad, this is the set I want. Your picture is lovely-soft & dreamy!
Thank you! 🙂
Love both paintings Becky.
Thank you 😌
The only information I found (I didnt delve very deeply) about PY49 is that it is one arylide (Hansa) yellow. This I found in paper authored by Suzanne Quillen Lomax, Joseph F. Lomax, Trevor K. Graham, Thomas J.T. Moore, Carly G. Knapp, called "Historical azo pigments: Synthesis and characterization," in the Journal of Cultural Heritage. It has the colour index number 11765.
Thank you for the info! ❤I found very little, and also admittedly didn't spend a lot of time hunting, haha!
Such pretty colors. Always love seeing what you do with your watercolors.
Thank you, I enjoyed this set much more than a few others in the range!
Fun set; thanks for giving us a look. I like your paintings
Thank you 😌
Cool! I can't wait to see the entire palette put together.
Enjoyed the video and lovely paintings. Thank you!
Thanks! 😊
@@BeckyTregear you’re welcome ☺️
Lovely paintings. About what to do with all the paints, have fun combining them with other paints. Potter's pink mix, add more pink or more teal to it. I did a macaroon painting where I took my highly granulating Potter's and mixed it with all of my non-granulating pinks. I got a lovely, textured pile of bright pink to light pink macaroons. The yellows might actually re-wet better if combined with another yellow, even. Anyway, these are great textural base colors. Thank you for sharing. It seems you choose the paints I'm most intrigued about. I appreciate it.
Thank you, and I think I'll be adding a nicer yellow in with the granulating one in the hopes that it will rewet more easily!
Beautiful paints and paintings 👍👍
Thank you 🙂
Haze set is my fave out of them all now I've seen it, it knocks my last fave shire out of the window! I love the muted/cool shades of this set and that granulation really pops out! Both artworks were lovely but I have to go with the castle, it shows off the colours much more, didn't really notice the wonky bits until you mentioned it lol another great video, Thank you! :D
I think Haze and Tundra are my two favourites - I need to swatch them all out together I think!
Hi Becky, I like both of your paintings. They are well done even if you didn't quite like the castle. I liked it.
Thank you! Castle needs some refinement but otherwise I am happy it kind of looks like what it's meant to. Nick identified it without me telling him, lol.
Beautiful paintings Becky!
Thank you 🙂
Outstanding paintings! I love them ❤
Thank you 😌
Nice set! Very good for landscape. Beautiful paintings, as well. You are right, better to buy them individually.Have a great weekend, Becky.
Thank you, you too!
Awesome Becky. The haze set looks a great addition for tonal studies.
I really like it! 😊
great looking castle😀 i do like these muted colours, could be used with a lot of colours from the others sets
BAVARIA Germany: I`m home there and it`s a pitty that we did not met. 🙂 If you ever in Germany let me know 😙 And like every time very beautiful pictures!
I was there in 2007; would love to go back again one day!
Loved the indigo the best. It is quite effective for moody, hazy, and atmospheric subjects. Good info on the yellows, I will definitely use them from the tubes. Thanks for sharing😘
I'm glad it was helpful!
Thank you Becky! The monochrome concept is inspiring! I have these bu didn’t know what to do wth them. I do now!
I'm glad it helped give you some inspiration! 😆
I like their ocean set best!!
Also, that exact set and all their sets are sold on Amazon.
Oh I didn't know they are selling them on Amazon! I will have to update my links, thank you.
Yeah, they are selling fast!!! Just be careful about some sellers price gouging though!!
Great paintings. I liked that rose too! I don’t think I want all of them but I’ve watched this series wondering what 1 or 2 I might by if I could😍!
Hopefully it helps when choosing individual colours! 🙂
Just to warn you Becky, I put some of mine into pans then a few days later I found that they were almost impossible to rewet so now I just keep them in the tubes and squeeze out what I need for a painting.
That's what I am afraid of! Especially Volcano Yellow as that has been the most difficult of all the colours I've tried! 😭
I also like the Haze set, but I only have the 5ml tubes. I have 'full set syndrome' so I couldn't go with just a few and collected the whole line. 😃
I like your paintings too. Schloss Neu Schwanstein is easily recognisable. 😉
Must have the whole set! 😂
The indigo is lovely.
Both of those paintings look great. I like the way you showed your “mist” technique with lifting on the wolf. Haze pink and both of the blues really are the winners in the set. I use lunar black a lot.
Thank you! 😊 Lunar black is a very useful colour.
Hi, Becky! My laptop crashed before I could comment yesterday, so I'm back to say that I thought both paintings showed off the colours well, and I didn't see anything wrong with the castle. It has a dreamy, fairytale air about it which I love!
I really like the first three - Pink, blue and indigo! I think that I may have some fun trying mixing the Haze pink, as I already have all the pigments - all four of them, as I've looked up a way to make Potters' Pink substitute!!! - to play with. (the PB35 is so close to PB36 that my PB36 should do the same job).
The castle wall is off-kilter, at least to my eyes! 😂 Have fun mixing the pigments; that should create some interesting colours. And I hope you got your laptop fixed!
@@BeckyTregear I think it depends on how we're looking at something whether or not we see it as 'not quite right'. For you, as the artist, you were looking at it from the point of view of someone who's been there, taken the photos and wanting the painting to look 'right'.
But as we know, for the viewer, it can be something quite different For me, it was a lovely fairytale book painting, and for others who really loved the castle painting, it could be a different reason for each one.
The hardest thing I've had to learn when someone's looking at my paintings. (in progress out of doors or finished) is to smile and not comment as they look, and if they think it's great, to smile and thank them. It's still a lesson in the learning, as I've discovered recently!
It's hard to do, isn't it!!! Becky, I wonder if we, as the artist, will ever find it easy to do????
I love this set. I haven't found anywhere in EU that sell the big tube set sadly. I hope Schmincke will add them to the permanent selection.
It would be great if they did. A few stores in Melbourne sell individual tubes but they're insanely expensive!
I think boesner art supply store sells them online but I‘m not sure if they ship outside of Germany. A 15ml tube is about 13€.
@@ninamarie177 they do, but have a fairly high minimum order amount. Thanks anyways. I have not looked at their page for a good while actually.
@@BeckyTregear yea they are all kinda pricey. Not so wierd with all the cobalt pigments they have used for them. LOL
Thank you for this video and the castle painting is just so beautiful
Thank you, I might have to try that one again, with a less skewed castle wall, lol.
I bought galaxy, deep sea, and one of the others as a full set of 5ml. after that I went with 15ml tubes of the 1 or 2 colors from each set that I really wanted to have as a convenience. But the haze set got me again, because it was a Jackson's exclusive. I completely forgot I could just mix them.
I do really love the Haze set though, I think that's a lovely one! And yes a lot of them (or all of them) can be mixed, but ready-made mixes in tubes always appeal to my lazy side, haha!
Haze Blue is PY43/PB29 and PBr7. This is raw sienna PY43/PBr7 with French Ultramarine PB29.
Is that the one where I didn't know what the yellow was? Thanks for the info on that! 🙂
@@BeckyTregear hi yes. It’s PY43 instead of PY 49. Schmincke’s Raw Sienna is a two pigment color PY43 and PBr7. So Haze Blue is almost certainly a combination of the Raw Sienna with their granulating French Ultramarine PB29.
Love your paintings! 😍 thanks so much for reviewing these and doing the videos. Super useful.
I was disappointed too. I bought the Desert, Forest and Glacier. Colors are so pale and similar. The really got us with those cute wooden boxes, didn’t they.
I’m always a sucker for a good looking box! 😂
💜💜💜tfs💜💜💜
Haze blue has Py43 it says on their website not py49 it is raw umber
if it said py49 on your tube i have no clue if it is a print error or a change of formula they have done now to py43
@@NordicFoxArt interesting...I might need to look that up. 🤔
Hi, Becky, Knowing your love for granulating colours, and experimenting, I thought this video with Liz Chaderton would interest you?
