You guys make really beautiful wedding photographs. They're not just documenting an event. You produce beautiful images that stand on their own.
Thanks so much Daniel!
I totally agree that zooming with your feet isn't always a solution. Yes, with enough room, you can fit the same amount of "stuff" in the image, but the perspective changes (i.e. the relationship between the subject and the background).
Nice video. I love my 35 1.8 for all the reasons you talked about.
Such a good lens! Mine is on my camera all the time 🙌🏻
Brilliant, thank you, you have shown great photos as examples and refreshed my yearning for a 35mm prime! I have an Olympus 35mm f2 in my cupboard, it was my favorite lens in the OM film system, now I just need to get one for Canon.
So glad to inspire you! Hope you get out and make some fun images!
Thanks, your advice was so helpful for me.
Glad to help! Thanks for watching 🤙🏻
Great video, thanks!
Glad you liked it! Have a great day!
incredible pictures! subscribed.
Thanks for the sub! Much appreciated!
I love changing it up, all the focal lengths from 24, 28, 40, 50, 85, etc and outstanding in their own way. For years I found my photos very stagnant because of using the same focal length. Every focal length allows a different way of telling a story as well as composing
Thanks for sharing, I agree!
Awesome review of the 35mm. I have a 35mm 1.8, but don't use it very often (mainly use the 85mm). After watching your review I will get a little more use out of my 35mm and practice some of your suggested techniques. Thanks
Nice, that's what I like to hear, hope you have some fun with it!
Thank you! It was very helpful.
You're welcome! Thanks for watching!
A 35mm Lens is "the holy grail" of Lenses, if you look back on old compact Cameras with fixed mounted Lenses, then they had 35, 38 or 40mm Lenses and for a very good reason, it is a focal Length that is easy to use for most people that not have much experience with photography. I love the 35mm focal length, When I go with one Lens only, then the 35mm is a high scoring favorite, I have two 35mm Lenses, the Voigtländer APO-Lanthar 35mm 2.0 Aspherical which is second to none in optical image quality ! The other one is the Sony Carl Zeiss Sonnar 35mm 2.8 T* ZA which is so Light and compact, that you always can find space in a bag or pocket for it !
Love that little Zeiss 35mm! I used it for years and love how compact it is!
Wow love this video, excelent content.
Thanks so much for the kind words!
Nice Quality content and to the point video ❤ good job. Amazing photos 🎉. You have earned a subscriber 😊
Thankyou so much! I appreciate the encouragement, it is nice to get some positive feedback!
I haven't really found myself using my 35 as much as my 16 and 50 primes. I'm told it makes a great street photography lens, so that will be my test. I'll be doing some street photos this weekend and I will force myself to taking ONLY the 35 to see what I can come up with. I'm still learning composition, but I've always wanted to try street photography so maybe I'll be inspired by this lens! Thanks!
Nice, hope you have some fun this weekend! I've talked to so many people that love the 35 for street photography.
Pretty cool video - very informative as well!
It's nice getting a refresher, especially at this late an hour for me. 😊
Plus, I liked the multiple camera angle shots; it made for a dynamic presentation! 😎👌
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it and hopefully something I said sticks with you on your next shoot!
I mostly use my 35 f1.8 for astrophotography. But this will help with incorporating landscape story telling with people/portraits. Thanks for sharing
The 35 can be a fun lens for Astro, I usually like the 20mm. Hope you have fun with the storytelling 👍🏻
35mm is my all time favorite focal length. I even have a 23mm f/1.4 (35mm equivalent) on my APS-C camera.
Nice! Yeah I used a 24mm on my Sony A6000 for a while :)
My cam is Fuji X-S20 paired with TTArtisan 35mm f1.8
Just like this review, I totally agree that 35mm is versatile. Just the right distance.
Hi Randy, just remember that 35mm on a crop sensor camera like your Fuji, is actually equivalent to shooting a 50mm lens on a full frame camera. To get a more true 35mm wide perspective on your Fuji, you should try shooting with a 23mm lens. I love shooting 50mm, so the 35mm f2 was my go to on my Fuji.
This is true but if you're enjoying it, stick with it!
My favorite lens in the 70"s and 80"s.
Nice!
Very informative video! Am I weird to bring both 35mm and 135mm on my upcoming travel? I will be traveling to Asia and plan use 135mm for street photography since I am shy to get closer. I then use 35mm when I am with family and indoor. Or, should I leave 135mm at home and "crop" later if I bring just the 35mm?
Definitely bring the 135, stoked for your travels, hope you have an amazing trip!
Man the Sony FE 35 1.8 is so underrated. It’s one of my favorite lenses. And it’s not super expensive!
Agreed! I've been meaning to test out the "knockoff" Samyang 35mm version to see how it compares, it's quite a bit cheaper.
Good video!
To me changing lenses in a quickly changing environment is a little crazy when both Tamron & Sigma have excellent 2.8 zoom lenses that cover roughly 25-75. ( lots of great stuff can be done now in post).
I use my 35 strictly for street photography where I want to go unnoticed.
Thanks for sharing! It can be cumbersome to swap, I often shoot two cameras for this reason :)
35 mm really a good choice for story telling....I like it ❤
Thanks for watching!
I'm considering a 35mm prime. I have a Canon R8 and am using 50mm f/1.8 and 85mm f/1.8 lenses from my APSC DSLR. At the moment I have crop sensor kit lens and EF-S 10-18 as wider alternatives.
The Canon EF 35mm f/1.8 looks like it would nicely fill a hole, being a full frame lens.
The RF 35 1.8 is excellent. Definitely pick one up if you can. I use it a lot for photo and video.
I agree with Phil, I don’t shoot Canon but my friends do and they both love that 35 1.8 lens 🤙🏻
The RF 35 f1.8 has helped me done client work and definitely definitely is good enough for just social media
Thank you for your inspiration!
May I ask you if it’s worth it to have a f1.4 lens compared to a f2.0?
I would use it generally for isolation for kids-pictures to keep other kids unrecognizable as well as low light evening outdoor pictures. Therefor I am asking and
I would be happy to hear a little bit about your opinion!
Thx in advanced! Of course I can use a 50mm or 85mm but then I limit the view of the environment (negative space) I guess with 24mm f1.4 I would not get the isolation with depth of field…
Best, Bernhard
Oh by the way, I do have the 20mm f1.8 as well as the 65mm f2. So this is why I am thinking about this in particular…
Hi Bernhard, the difference between f1.4 and f2 is not a ton but might be enough to give you more blur. It’s more about the distance than the f-stop. Hope that helps!
Which full frame Sony do you use. Your link for the camera doesn’t show a camera. Thanks.
Thanks for letting me know, I use the Sony A7IV mainly: amzn.to/40EtK8T
I added the link to the description as well.
Can you make a video about the 105 MC Nikkor.
Interesting! I’ll have to look into it :)
Brenda, superb video. The links that you shared titled "My choice for a Sony Full Frame 35mm lens" just links to the Amazon start page, for me. Is it possible that the url changed on Amazon's end? Also, I'm guessing it's the lens you were holding, the 35mm f/1.8?
Thanks for the heads up, I’ll double check my links but yes, it’s the 35 f1.8, good balance of price/quality 👍🏻
The best 3 focal lengths and lenses are 20mm f1.8, 35mm f1.8, and 85mm f1.8. Why f1.8? These sizes are perfect for compact, lightweight, faster than zoom len f2.8, and cost less than f1.4. 35mm f1.8 is my main len for everything.
You say that. Others say a 50 is all you need.
Nice! Those are all such great lenses!
The only focal length which accompanies my full frame and apsc camera body..
Right on, me too! ...Most of the time :)
226 / 5.000
Hello, good morning, question: minute 3:39, the backlight is high, but in front of the couple, do you use it directly on the camera??? Or do you put them found one to the other? Thank you very much. You would help me with your answer. Greetings from Tijuana B.C. Mexico
Thanks for asking, this is actually a 4 light setup with a light just off each corner of the dance floor. No on camera flash, just a trigger. Hope that helps!
@@TheBergreens muchas gracias 👌
How did you get the photo of sunset with the people correctly exposed and the sun is also properly exposed ... ?m
Not sure which one you’re talking about but it was likely by using off camera flash. Allows you to expose for both by adding light where you want it :)
Ate you talking about full frame or a crop camera
Full frame for life hahaha 😆
I need a prime lens for only landscape photography..is it worth to buy???
If you’re just shooting landscapes I’d suggest something a little wider, maybe the 20mm f/1.8. It’s also great for astrophotography!
I can only assume that all Imagen and references are for Full Frame cameras
What are the equivalent to APSC sensor cameras ? (1.6 crop factor)
I’d look at a 20 or 24mm lens on an APS-C camera. Hope that helps 👍🏻
You don’t mention whether you are shooting full frame or cropped sensor or fourth thirds.
Thanks for sharing, I’ve been using full frame cameras so long I forget to mention that :)
What about sports?
Sports can be tough to shoot without a zoom lens but if you're approaching it from a photojournalistic perspective, a 35 could work :)
I'm the 500 like :)
Thanks for the support David!
Thanks for watching! If you have any feedback or questions, leave a comment below 😊
24-70 is everything you need
A solid choice 👍🏻
ever heard of 24mm !
Maybe I'll have to make a video on the 24mm, thanks for the suggestion :)
but i like 28mm more
Fair point 😃
a dont like very much the 35 mm its like a smartphone photo !
It can be unless you are thoughtful about your framing (foreground, mid, background). Maybe that’ll help!
😅 I thought the same. Prefer 24/1.4
@@juravhs3848 the 24mm it seems to be a panoramique lens for landscaps... This is praticable
But the 35 mm for portrait shots
A dont like this so much
Where is yours 35mm samples?😂
🤣✌🏻
If you want to continue making these videos, I recommend consulting a speech therapist.
Have you something problem? Maeby you need therapist😂😂
WTF is wrong whit you , stop spreading your frustration of not having courage to do something beneficial out of your miserable life , and vomit such none sense.
🤣
What is your problem?
So on a cropped sensor, it’s more like a 50mm? And if that’s true, it’s a 35mm acting like a 50mm without the bokeh of the 50mm - so pointless?
