What Happened to The Dukes of Hazzard (1979-1985)?

  • Growing up in the 80s it was a special time for kids who loved cars. Series like Magnum PI, Knight Rider, and The A-Team all had an iconic vehicle that was a centerpiece of the series and epitomized the spirit of the show. But perhaps none was as iconic and memorable as the car at the heart of this episode, The General Lee from The Dukes of Hazzard.
The orange painted muscle car was the chariot of Bo and Luke, the two modern day Robin Hoods AKA The Duke Boys and their gorgeous cousin, Daisy Duke. In this episode of Gone But Not Forgotten we’re going climb through the window and get behind the wheel of The General as we revisit The Dukes of Hazzard

They killed so many beautiful cars…..I love all 1900-73 cars….all were beauties until money and gas crunch, many since, but that show derbyng them irons made me smile and laugh over and over and think, “that stuntman’s dead on that stuffed landing” 😂

Fun fact: Roscoe's iconic giggle is the same one he used to make his kids and his grandkids laugh, so he used it in the series. He said that he felt that giggle gave Roscoe more innocence than how he was originally written as. Originally, Roscoe was straight up corrupt but he wanted Roscoe more innocent, and it fit considering the show was marketed heavily to kids. I was born in late 93 so this show is a bit before my time, BUT in my childhood, CMT ran CONSTANT reruns of TDOH

The horn heard at around 11:35 is actually my horn taken from my website. And also the sound I sold to Warner brothers for the 2005 movie. Since then, it's showed up everywhere I would least expect it. Cell phone rings, Family Guy, even the Dukes General Lee Cars.

A show I watched so many reruns of on cmt even growing up in the early 2000’s and missing out on the original run I loved every minute of the series though the season without Bo and Luke wasn’t the best all the other characters helped keep it together

I remember when it premiered. I was nine years old at the time, and I had only seen the name of the show, so I had no idea what it was about. I was thinking, "The Dukes of Hazzard? Maybe it's about some kind of adventure seeking aristocratic types." So, I watched it. And I kept watching it, for years. Except for season five, of course. For some reason my TV couldn't get CBS that year.
