So, fun fact: The reason Haruhi makes this movie is actually because Kyon told her about Nagato, Asahina, and Koizumi's identities. She thought he was joking and got mad at him because she thought that he had asked her to meet him for a date. So she essentially got her revenge on Kyon for trolling her (from her perspective) by making this terrible movie.
I knew that Kyon planted the idea, but I never knew Haruhi thought he was asking her out when he told her to meet at the cafe. That makes this whole scenario so much funnier. Her being angry at Kyon could also explain why she was so cruel to Mikuru while filming. Man this show is so good
@@Totaraum Haruhi is surprisingly deep. I cannot tell you how many hours I've spent just mulling over the little details. I highly recommend the novels if you haven't already read them.
@@scienceme9794 I've been thinking of starting to collect the reprints soon
@@scienceme9794 I know what you mean just by listening to his monologues from the anime. It’s good to hear that this writing style is ripped straight from the novels. It looks like I’m gonna have to choose between the haruhi novels or that jojo fighting game remake and the new monster hunter expansion lol. Also thank you as always!
@@Totaraum If I remember right he actually tells her at the end of episode 6 (though it wasn’t animated until way later for some reason). That’s when they had one of their scheduled brigade outings but the other three were absent to likely clear up the mess of the universe nearly being destroyed with their own factions. But given how much Haruhi so clearly always wants to be paired up alone with Kyon’s during their supernatural hunts (but can’t because her subconscious always pairs her with aliens, time travelers, and espers- aka the types of things she’s trying to find), I can def see her interpreting it as a potential date that got ruined.
The fact that KyoAni can make something purposefully awkward is lowkey them showing off just how good they are haha
Great video!
Thank you! And I completely agree
Yeah, ep00 grabbed my attention like no other.
Funny story, I have a professional theatre singer among my friends, and she told me that trying to sing way off-key intentionally is pure torture when you're a pro. Kinda gives me more appreciation for that masterpiece of an opening there.
I figured it would be hard to ruin your muscle memory like that, that's awesome
You really have to appreciate that kyo-ani went the extra mile to intentionally make every single detail terrible.
If they were actually animating a good film, it probably would have been easier for them, but instead they took the extra time and effort to include countless little details to show how disorganized they are, and it's perfect.
I know, right? This is one of those episodes that's made special because they chose to go the extra mile
Man, Didnt know the haruhi gang made clannad the motion picture
Lmao
I don’t know what you mean! This movie was a masterpiece along side Threat Level Midnight!
Come on, we all know that Troll 2 and The Room are the two best films ever made

Another funny and heartwarming video. I've been enjoying your journey through the KyoAni collection. Hope to see you cover Chunibyo soon.
Thanks so much! Also Chuunibyou is on the list!
@@Totaraum Chunibyo is freaking amazing!!! Can't wait to see that video
Purposefully making something so bad it's funny is super hard to nail down, I'm impressed by how well this show pulled it off. Maybe working with established characters and having that meta narrative of them making it made it easier.
That Edwin Jackson joke was A+ lmao. Def did not expect that in a Haruhi video
Great video. Love this episode, and it's great to see you explain why you like it as well. Keep up the great work, bro!
Thank you, I will!
If this show proves anything it's that Haruhi's somehow both the smartest and dumbest person at the same time...
this episode's leaning towards dumbest though
I love how she’s known as the “super utility player” who’s good at everything and always gets good grades but she’s also the most incompetent person in the world
But Kyon isn't really a narrator in the movie. We as audience can hear his thoughts like in any other episode.
I didn’t even consider that lol. I think it works both ways, like a lot of interpretations of the show do. That’s what makes it cool
I don't know why I end up watching this even while knowing nothing about Haruhi...
Thanks for the video it was funny nonetheless
Thank you for watching nonetheless!
@@Totaraum somehow my comment sounds mean to me)
Wanted to say the video is nice, just for some reason did it in a bullshit way
@@darliontarkwei oh I didn’t think you sounded rude or anything, I took it as a compliment. No worries!
And then it turned itself into a low quality school movie. Funniest shit I've ever seen
Might be funnier if pickles were involved, but to each their own
I didn't actually think you'd do this video
Honestly neither did I when I wrote that line a year ago
The fire cracker scene gave me a cramp from how hard I laughed goat episode
Great video, always puts a smile on my face to see your videos!
Thanks so much!
objectively the best episode for any anime ever
too true
Really enjoying your videos!
Thank you!
Holy shit it’s the video that I and only I was waiting for, this is a good day
Thanks for reminding me to make it lmao. I hope you liked it!
it's what I expected it to be which is honestly really good, I've laughed more times hearing you talk about this one episode than I have actually trying to watch a "pure" comedy show
@@msyon. Awesome, I'm happy to hear that
i lvoe haruhi
yes eye's two lvoe haroohee
Great video, saw this from the r/Haruhi sub.
Thank you, I’m glad you found it!
this is nostalgic
Literally just finished the series yesterday and then you upload this. Stop stalking me
Oh yeah good video too
lmao thank you!
I love that theme song.🤣
Same here
Some quality content
Thank you!
The shops where haruhi procures the video camera & toy pistols still exist. Visited in Oct 2019
That’s so cool!
goes hard
Thank you!
I am subbing because of this video it was amazing
Thank you! I’m happy to hear you liked it
I’m hoping to make a video talking about the anime and the novels because I haven’t seen any of people talking about them other than the anime
In which episode of which season you get to see the behind the scenes scenes for the 00-movie??
It's a whole arc in season 2, if you're looking at the episodes chronologically it's episodes 20-24
@@Totaraum ah, thank you! I'll have to find that season 😄
I think the MCU now days has proven that it can always be worst 😅, they should fire all their writers and hire Haruhi 🤔
Omg😂😂
Man I hated this arc so much. It was the arc that made me drop Haruhi.
But it’s so fun
@@Totaraum Well, it's true that in the arc when they make this movie Haruhi becomes the most annoying person ever
Odd thought: I'm struck by how awful Haruhi's "film" is, compared with her rousing "God Knows" concert performance. The difference? The film objectively records Haruhi's actual competence level, charitably described as "amateurish", while the song is before a live audience. Haruhi doesn't manipulate reality--she manipulates the perceptions of those around her. (Also worth considering: the movie shows the concert bassist exerting actual magical powers. Perhaps we should assume Nagato is responsible for the concert success. But as always, Haruhi gets the credit.)
