  • I used to sculpt animals in polymer clay as a child all the time and it’s been many years since. Recently, I’ve been on a quest to find an alternative to epoxy putty for sculpting animals, so please join me in my return to polymer clay as an adult while I create a semi-realistic rain frog (the ever-frowning and very round Breviceps) in Sculpey polymer clay from start to finish.
✨ IN THIS VIDEO I SHARE:
    ○ How I build an armature & apply the Sculpey clay
    ○ My thoughts on how sculpting with polymer clay vs sculpting epoxy putty (Milliput, Aves, Magic Sculpt, etc) compares
    ○ My multi-stage bakes, with times & temperatures
    ○ How I make realistic & semi-realistic sculpting projects easier with the ‘shapes & blocking’ method
    ○ A tip for perfect eyes on a sculpted model animal
I publish videos once a month sharing my adventures in creating horse and animal art in my free time for my own enjoyment, like sculpture, painting, printmaking and more. If you enjoy watching the adventures of an artist making things by hand, and sometimes learning something new, I’d love to show you what I make next!

You're delightful! I love seeing polymer clay from the POV of someone who normally works in a different medium. I find that so informative. And the frog... SO CUTE!

This is so cool! I have a TON of polymer clay somewhere, as I used to make jewelry with it back in the day. Watching this made me wanna go and play with it again. :)

This grumpy little plump has my whole heart! I really loved the video, so many great tricks like the steel ball bearings! I'll have to give that one a try, I usually make eyes from clay but squish them in the process 😆 This was so well done and I can't wait to see more!

Awww, thank you! And yeah, I’m always squishing things. I’m surprised his little toes survived intact 😂

Thank you! And I’d say it was a lifelong passion for animals and realizing, after finishing my fjord sculpture, that hey! I can sculpt! And thus I wanted to see what else I could make now. Why not one of these adorably grumpy frogs? 😆

It is a breviceps rainforest frog. It does look a bit toad-like, and partly why I love it! :D Check them out, they’re adorable: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Breviceps

Crazy, its looks almost like a Toad. Thanks for the Input! Edit: jeez, those are walking like toads instead of hopping. Thats crazy.
