I’m glad Brandon sat down for this interview and acknowledged the grassroots work being done in community by leaders in the streets.

I really love this interview. He doesnt get enough credit because most people dont realize just how much he has done if it doesn't hit their hand, their home, or their spirit tangibly. But, slow and steady changes in the city affects everyone, whether they know it or not. This dude is a changer and is proactive. I appreciate him.

This is what we need in our communities, which is innovation, a lost art.

How can you innovate when you're behind by light years not centimeters?

I genuinely hate reading the comments under this video. The amount of interaction Brandon Scott has had with local nonprofits, philanthropic organizations, comunity/religious organizations, and advocacy agencies is inspiring. What he's doing with these 21st century schools is inspiring! Being a native Baltimorean serving the city from a natives prospective is fucking inspiring. Politicians like this is the reason I pursue higher education and love politics. He's doing all of this for us and there are people in the comments who have random ass hate speech responses because what??? Because he's not tearing down abandoned homes that legally don't belong to him? B/c yall not active in your kids academics and now the school averages are plummeting? B/c previous leaders divested from black communities so young black youth feel hopeless and turn to crime?? Y'all stay arguing about things he's currently trying to help/clean up for you while you do absolutely nothing AND THEN COMPLAIN ABOUT A SYSTEM AND CITY YOU DON'T EVEN UNDERSTAND

Love the space. Thank you for giving him a safe place to speak on what he's doing, what his city has offered, and still doing it.

I can. I live here. And worked for A local community leader in east Baltimore, and his whole saying about Baltimore is: it was designed to fail. Most active port in the US- what do you think is coming in on those ships? The home of red lining and systemic racism? Everyone suffers from it all. This young mayor is doing a great job and is level headed and yes is creating grass roots change.

This is insane gas lighting. I literally was in Baltimore in October. It’s a crap hole! It’s horrible. The public perception is well earned. Horrible politics with no accountability has destroyed the city

I’m from Columbia South Carolina I love Baltimore! And I never heard of the wire until recently!! I’m a 90s millennial so I was to young when that show came out 😂, but I’m glad this millennial mayor is systematically changing Baltimore & its image for the betterment of black Americans! He reminds of the Mayor Maynard Jackson 1st black mayor of Atlanta! (RUclips Maynard Jackson interview)

These Churches and other Religious groups should come together with Parents, Schools, Grassroots Community activists, and these Popular Podcasters and work with the community from the ground up.
And we need to change the message and focus more on positive motivational messages and give the youth who aren't in crisis who're not Rappers, Athletes, Entertainers who're doing the right thing making them the norm for the Community.
Baltimore need to make moves not Excuses.

Please Mr. Mayor, do not use the non-word "tooken" when being interviewed on national television. Yes, we all make mistakes, but you add more fuel to the racist fire when you speak like that in public.
