That's a really unfortunate event. I hope you guys did not have any issues on the way out. Have had several experiences like these on my travels around the world , in India they tend to ignore us as locals. I understand how you guys must be feeling, i've had someone try to pickpocket and scam me in Milan and Barcelona before.. not too keen on ever returning to those places either. The rest of the trip seemed nice and colourful. I wish you safe travels free from interactions with such rotten apples.

This is not about outsmarting; in fact, it reflects a lack of national moral fiber. People are accustomed to communicating with their more morally upright compatriots within their own country and are used to honesty. As a result, they treat Indians as if they were of the same high moral character when they go to India, which is not the case.

Most unfortunate that there are some unscrupulous clowns (those elephant care takers) that create a bad experience for visitors (and the elephants that they have been entrusted to look after and to think that these jokers get remunerated for their jobs). Hopefully the Mysuru (Karnataka) Tourism Department authorities take note of their actions and take appropriate action. Please don't allow this experience to become a dampner in your otherwise enjoyable travels.

I think an explanation of why we shouldn't support riding elephants and sitting on them would help. Elephants in tourist attractions are trained to behave in a certain way for tourists and tourist love it. But, the elephants are ill-treated. They are intelligent and wonderful creatures and should not be chained to concrete and left to stand/sleep in their own urine and feces. Sitting on them and riding them breaks down their spines.

Elephants chained is just digusting. So glad you did not take up the offer to sit on a blind elephant in chains. The Rs200 would have gone into his pocket - not for foodfor the elephant. In Sri Lanka they had a very old elephant which they did not feed and she died on the spot in a ceremonial temple parade and was just skin and bone - so much for bhuddist care for all animals!

There is an active movement for the emancipation of temple elephants in South Asia, but there's a lot of resistance. The paints are toxic to their skin, and of course chaining them, physically disciplining them, and riding them is frankly barbaric. Is it any wonder that they display stereotypic behavior like swaying back and forth, let alone break free and kill people?

The Mysore-pak you got if i am correct is a moist version. You should try the other version that is more dryish and porous and its texture when you bite is more grainy / sandy and it melts in your mouth. 150 Rs for that much qty seems awfully cheap and perhaps oil was used in the recipe. A true Mysore pak is made in Ghee (aka clarified butter) and thats the one and you should try the dry and porous version. I wouldn't suggest any foreigners to interact with anyone who comes up to sell aggressively anywhere in India (not just Mysore). The Tourism Dept doesn't monitor these things and if you are a foreigner filming a video in such places, you're a sitting duck. I wish you had gone instead to Chamundi hills, KRS dam, some Yoga center (don't know which one is good for short visit), Himada Gopalaswamy Temple, Namdroling monastery, St. Philomena's Church, Srirangapatna, Balmuri-Edmuri Falls,.... - so many places to see in Mysore.

Mysore is a very beautiful and peaceful city. The whole video was fantastic, but you found that idiot in the corner. You should not give any money to them, not even 100 or 200. We want you to experience the best of India.

Sorry for the bad experience, Mysuru is one of the best and beautiful place in India and Karnataka to visit, it's because of these kind of people it gets a bad name. Forget this experience and I hope you'll have a great experience in Mysuru. KRS, brindavan gardens, sagarkatte and karanji lake are one of the best places to visit there.

Kori Gassi (Tulu for chicken curry) is a Mangalore speciality. I doubt Mysore (Kannada majority city) would be known for "Kori Gassi".

If you pop into google “food mysore is known for” Kori Gassi is number 3 on the list 😅

@@TwoMadExplorers People from Udupi-Mangalore region are known for owning restaurants. Most South Indian eateries in Mumbai are owned by them, for example. So, it might be that some one from the region opened up a restaurant there. Non-veg food is the last thing I think of when I hear Mysore. 😄
