    I really like what you’ve done so far. Anybody else who may not be quite as engineering, inclined. K tune offers a great billet shifter. It’s honestly kinda budget friendly.

    Thats some serious work. Suprises those 3d printed bushing hold up at the base of the shifter

    • @abdullahmohieddin
      @abdullahmohieddin  Год назад

      Thanks. They have 100% infill and are always compressed with no room to really "explode" in an outwards direction... so they should be good

      @@abdullahmohieddin what kind of filament are you using for ur prints?

    • @abdullahmohieddin
      @abdullahmohieddin  Год назад

      ABS. Cant be PLA, it will degrade in this type of environment (heat, sun, cold, etc). But I use an enclosure around my printer to make sure nothing is cooling and that my parts have good layer adhesion. I haven't experimented with other filaments though.

    Very good upgrades! I am very interested to see how the final "gated shifter" will look like c: I build somthing similar but with a sliding plate to cover the hole of the plate you talked about 👍

    I have been working on one for a 2012 Audi a3. I have been using the 3D printed model for over a year but have broken the teeth off many times (on my 10th or so print). I should be cutting it out of aluminum on a water jet and seeing how that goes. We should dm and talk about his stuff

    • @abdullahmohieddin
      @abdullahmohieddin  10 месяцев назад

      My plan is to finalize the 3d printed version of the shifter plate when it's perfect, then use that same file to have the plate CNC'd out of steel by a metal cutting service, such as send cut send. Unless you are making it out of thick aluminum, i wouldnt recommend it, as it might slightly bend if you shift hard or mis-shift into the fork.

    Why not use a straight short shifter?

    • @abdullahmohieddin
      @abdullahmohieddin  Год назад

      I already find that I need some good force to put the the shifter into each gear. Using a short shifter would make it even more difficult, and would leave maybe only a few mm of space between the gates. That would not allow me to install a shifter plate with forks that are wide enough (to be strong enough) to support the forces I will be applying on quick shifts. I also like the travel of the shifter, not too long or too short.

      I haven't worked on it for a while, but I've re-started last week. Trying to come up with a way to make the plate holder, which is more difficult than I thought.
      Edit: found an easy way to make the supporting structure, i think by the end of the year

      @abdullahmohieddin  Год назад

      I can share a file I made with the top portion sized correctly (skeleton frame). Did you figure out a way to mount the plate to the shifter base? I'm trying to find some metal pieces that I could potentially bend to make the support.
