Today we begin installation of the World's First Ferrari Gated Manual Conversion Kit by Dr. S: bit.ly/3TNqh3J
This is a first of its kind type of kit that is budget based, DIY friendly, and doesn't require removal of the factory F1 Transmission in order to install!

This link doesn’t seem to be Part 2
Definitely not part 2
Have not been able to find part 2 anywhere - anyone else get lucky?
Part 2?
this is really the part 2, jump to 10min on that video
Fantastic, what a beautifully put together kit. Not only is it really simple but the manufacturer has made a decent effort to make the installation easy. Having all those bolts wired into the correct positions is just a well thought out detail. One of the best videos you’ve done so far Sam, hopefully it will give more people the confidence to tackle jobs like this.
This is the slickest Ferrari manual swap ever! No transmission removal, just bolt and shift! (Link to the kit details: bit.ly/3TNqh3J )
Awesome job! But...how does it drive? What does the clutch feel like?
You could get the pedals polished and then blasted, to get a uniform texture.
You means worlds 2nd right?
@@phyfreak Why ?
That's expensive, but we'll worth it I bet.
Now this is very cool! Thankfully there are people out there developing such a conversion. Can’t tell you how many listings there are for F1 tranny Ferraris when I want a manual. Thankfully this exists now. Might start seriously looking at some f430 listings! 👏🏻
Can’t wait for the next vid! 👍🏻
OK mate, sure you'll be buying a ferrari now
Yer I'd be piss to get a tranny and not a car.
@@EFFEZE I am as well. Not everyone is broke
Can you pull Sams 🍆🍆🍆 out of your new Ferrari???
I have this kit in my car, albeit I did the full F1 pump removal option.
George is a really great guy who's worked very hard bringing this to the people. Would recommend it to anybody. Glad to see you're enjoying yours.
This kit seems to have appeared out of no where (and outside the community). Happy to see it being manufactured, though would like to know more on the company, George, and R&D that went into this.
Did you do the install yourself? How was the process? I have a lift and two other knowledgeable people helping me. I hope that will help cut down on the install time
Sam, you are an inspiration to old guys who like to wrench like myself. Love this channel.
That's neat how they put the hardware in place to make it that much easier. Guess I'm picking up an auto Ferrari 430 😊
I have to admit Sam… I’m impressed at the brake pedal mod. It came out way better than I thought it would! 😂
Samcrac, Was that your impression of Doug demuro! Mods....and Miles...😆😆👏 Hilarious! Or is it!?🤔
The easiest swap conversation I've ever seen. Very cool! 😎✌
Glad someone caught it
That kit is Legit!
Great video, just a word of caution, I noticed that you shaped the aluminum brake pedal with the bench grinder. You might already know but I wanted to mention for other viewers, the aluminum embeds in the grinding wheel and when you grind a ferrous material it heats up the aluminum and the grinding wheel can explode. I would not want you or your step-mom to get hurt. Love the videos.
I love how its so simple. No hassle besides cutting that brake pedal. And even that is easy.
To me it loked like you really wouldnt have to cut that brake peddle with a big a gap that he ended up with between the 2. I belive i would of just left it he way it was.
@@metalbeast83 - Yeah, if it got in the way I'd probably just buy a used one. I have a thing about keeping original parts, but this particular car is such a cobbled together mess, it really doesn't matter.
How cool! That should be a standard, if you want a manual, easy!
It’s amazing that this was a Ferrari diy friendly project. Just to change the windshield wiper alone on a Ferrari you would usually have to drop the engine. Great content as always. Can’t wait for the follow up.
Most cars come from the factory with all possible configurations. It simplifies the manufacturing process.
Looks like these conversion parts are well made.
Can't wait to see you hook the clutch line up to the gear box.
This is one of my favorite videos you’ve ever done Sam! I think that brake turned out pretty good. Nice one!
Very cool conversion! Great to see more cars being rescued from the F1 system.
Dude, great vid. You definitely no serious fabricator. That grinding sound was the sound of a timid amateur. But nice job on that brake pedal, looks fabulous.
Spent the beginning of Fathers Day weekend bingeing your Ferrari 360 videos. I really enjoyed them all.
It looks like the brake pedal would have been fine without cutting it? I bet this video sold a bunch of kits for the builder BRAVO Samcrac, this is really cool... AGAIN!
Wow! This is just amazing from start to finish. Cant wait to see how this turns out :)
Wow! So cool!!! Thinking we are going to see a lot more gated shifter Ferraris on the road in the near future!!
Let me give you a small tip. If you have a small sandblaster, you can use it on the edge of the pedel. It will make the surface look almost like the rest of the pedal.
Great project, Sam! I probably would have cut the pedal in similar fashion, but after cutting, I probably would have used a flappy sanding disk on the grinder instead of the grinding disk. You'd have more smooth and gradual shaping ability compared to the aggressive tendencies of a grinding disc. Just a different approach. Thx for sharing this great project!
Great point and it definitely sounds better than what I did!
yeah you can use just about any woodworking tools on aluminum so even finer you could use an oscillating tool with a sanding disc. If you use a random orbital sander on metal you'll produce a satin/matte finish so that would work too.
Me? I probably would have left the brake pedal one row of circles wider to give you a slightly bigger area to apply braking pressure. I thought they were going to be tight next to each other.
@@Samcrac But Step Mom doesn't like flappy...
Sam need to do this for Hoovie! & save him some $$
It seems like the components are very high quality. Even a wilwood master cylinder. I like that even though it is DIY, you aren't putting crappy components on a ferrari
anxious to see the other videos that put the shifter in the console , great video sir . excellent .
Sam.....I'm proud of you becoming a spannering genius!
All your copious amounts of cars are in anticipation of being fixed!
GO GET THEM SAM!
This kit is awesome, i Manual swapped my e36 m3 and it was more work because the transmission had to be replaced. Awesome you are doing this to a ferrari
15:01 wow that pedal looks just like factory, one great job.
That's a very cool addition to you Ferrari also you did a good job matching your brake pedal to the clutch pedal
Reminds me of when the UK show wheeler dealers converted an M3 to a manual.
Great premise for a video.
Nice work 😊
I love it !! I've driven Porsches for 50 years.. I drove them, Daily !! Now I have bought a 2 owner Texas car Very Well sorted "99 C2 Cab. w/ only 56K on the clock. W/ a newly refreshed Engine. Don't try it ! HooAh ??
Dude, your are a HARDCORE DYI. I've been watching now for about 7 months and I've gotta tell ya, This is some KOOL stuff.
Awesome kit for a gated manual. Amazed that the chassis is just plug and play... Thanks for the video
Looks like a beautifully engineered kit, where the makers have thought of all the snags and not left it to the buyer.
For $13,000 it better be well engineered.
Its not an overly engineered kit, more-so just a replication.
Wouldn't be convenient to place a washer between both pedals' axel?
To get the shine off and texture it like the other pedal use course sand in a sand blaster.
Nice job fella. I'd just leave it like that - with three pedals and an F1 transmission...confuse the Hell out of the next buyer. Looks like a top-quality kit though.
Not that many years ago there was much hate for gated shifters and now they are back in fashion.
Sam. I appreciate the toned down version of videos. I've always watched but cringed on the antics such as "stepmom" being in the vids.
The last few vids are very informative and entertaining. Thank you for your work
I was skeptical of the brake pedal chop but it came out perfect. Looks factory.
Stoked for the rest of this series
This is literally the best kit I’ve ever seen and I’ve watched 100s of swaps of all makes and models
Part of the reason a manual mechanism conversion on a Ferrari increases it resale value, even being an aftermarket mod, it's because it increases the reliability of the car. In clutch wear, as having less hydraulics and electronics with the gearbox prone to failure.
Then again, if you value reliability, why are you buying a Ferrari?
@@DanielFSmith You turn it the wrong way around!
When you have money to spend on a Ferrari, you might also want to use it some times without it breaking!
The kit company should use this instruction video with the kit. Excellent camera work and simple instruction! A++++
Dude I love your channel. It's great how much variety you have. I doubt I will ever own a Ferrari but I'm a nerd when it comes to DIY car videos
I’m on the list for the Dr. S kit. I’m just hoping you post the rest of the installation before I get mine so I have a bit of reference to assist me in my installation process.
that kit looks absolutely fantastic..... definitely looking forward to seeing you finish of installing the kit.....
Hi Samcrac from a twisted BC born and bred Helicopter Mechanic
I loved the.modification and am impressed with your always informative video skills .Kudos to you
I should put one in my Chinook Helicopter so my pilots don't get bored and behave with all the other 700 switchrs, knobs and levers.they get bored easy and cause me all sorts of problems so I have to send them yo their rooms in camp
Say hi to your Step Mom for me.She is nice
Oh one more thing
Clean your car out its filthy
Take care and be safe.
When I saw no transmission removal, I thought, Bluetooth? 🤔
😂
I’m not convinced Sam didn’t have a Ferrari tech looking over his shoulder to help him complete this project and video! 😂
I'm astounded he didn't have Sage do all the work.
@@gagamba9198 no matter who is doing the work I like and appreciate the videos. I just wanted to poke a little fun. Thanks Sam!
😂😂😂
it's he completed it primarily with one hand
He has @ratarossa to lean on for a wealth of info.
Before I looked at the price for this kit, I was running some numbers in my head as to what it would be worth to me and $2500 was what I was thinking. $12,000 is crazy but I guess still less expensive than the factory premium.
I thought $2500 as well. And it's worth $2500, but you gotta grab that Ferarri tax when ya can!
$2500? This most likely isn't a high volume product. Additionally with the R&D going into it and it having to make some sort of profit, 12000 is probably a fair price.
@@PhilippBorn yea, I thought a little more on it, and the market for this is very low. Other conversions for sale were like $30K, and if you've got Ferrari money, then you can prob swing $12K on something like this.
and sam probably got it for free and is advertising it so we but it
Buddy you can’t even swap my fuckin Lexus with 2500
The "Mods and Miles!" Bit had me cracking up LOL. Take that, Doug Demuro!
$13k dollars is still a lot of money. It certainly doesn’t cost that to produce. This guy found a market and provided a solution and is making a hefty profit from it.
I don't think it is expensive, the R&D, time, the manufacturing for such tiny market. I think it is very fair.
R&D is very expensive in time, money and anxiety. I created a kit to swap a Porsche Boxster 6 speed into my 2002 Lotus Esprit that came with a crap Renault 5 speed. I can assure you the hours plus the sleepless nights at about halfway through all the money I had to spend on it while still not knowing if it would ever work will get factored into the equation when/if I ever sell the kit to anyone else.
Well done Sam! One of the cleanest install/repairs you've ever done
for texturing you can get a hummer that has textured face and get it imprinted by just nocking on your brake pedal … look it up
Great. I have done this on on old Audi with factory parts and the body was already pre-drilled etc. Just lubricate in between both pedals so it doesnt squeak in the future.
Thank you, thank you Sam! It’s about time someone debunked
the myth that F1 transmission’s are radically different from a manual. I saw this on a BMW M3. And was shocked that nobody knew or made a video. You’re brilliant for making a video on it.
Now what about updating, ecu’s software. Did kit include flash?
I love the gated shifter. It's my favorite thing about Ferraris. Except for the sound of the engine. (Or maybe it is my favorite thing about them.)
Awesome it's so good something has been made so easy to convert love it
Amazing! Anyone complaining about the price hasnt been following the price of these kits the past several years..Theyve gone from expensive to absurd to NLA to DIY...Welcome competition.
This was such a great video. Awesome to watch. You made the kit look easy.
Excellent work Sam! I love the fact that you can always reverse the process and this is an extremely DIY friendly project.
Like that handy little tool for tight spaces ! Very nice conversion kit, looks factory
This is truly a revolutionary, game changing kit. Dr. S is making gated Ferraris so much more attainable. Excited to see where this project goes!
Wow -- that brake pedal turned out a *LOT* better-looking than I thought it would in the beginning. I honestly thought it was going to *look* like a brake-pedal that had been hacked up -- but it really turned out quite nice! You can tell it's modified, but only if you look closely. Well done!
I’d love to see what’s inside that gated box. Hopefully you’ll show a spoiler in a future video.
I wish you would have powder coated the pedals yellow, just for aesthetics, it would be a very cool cabin enhancement.
Wonderful swap, the Doctor S kit really takes care of the massnual enthusiasts, kudos to them. Lastly, I really like the shirt you were wearing! God Bless
The kit looks really nicely made but I’d have to swap the Philips screws on the gate for some hex or torxs screws, but that’s just my preference
That kit, is definitely a sweet ass addition to the 360. You should do it to the blue one too :troll:
Very cool kit and looks to be fairly easy to install. Quick tip, if like you said your artistic skills are lacking, you can trace out the the clutch pedal on some card stock, cut it out, flip it over and use it to lay out the line you need to cut off the brake pedal. the clutch and brake pedals look to be a mirror image of each other.
Sam
I'm glad your still helping your stepmom and didn't leave her stuck in the dryer!
Did this in my Maserati 7 years ago.
So now it's basically a 2000s version of a late 60s Ferrari GT with 2 more doors
Best video in a LONG time Sam. Keep it up. No more shenanigans.
OH! Can't wait for the rest of this. Really interested in perhaps doing this to my car as well.
That stuck joke was next level, you're writing skills are aomething else man. You crack me up. Hahaha
I wish ever manual conversion was this easy. I would convert my car and make it even more fun to drive and reliable
This is the most hands on I’ve seen Sam do himself in years. 😂
Great video showing how even an average Joe could do such a swap. And you complete a project, something Richie Rebuilds could take notes on….and I never heard you complain about how big of a project it was etc. etc. 😂🤣😂
And now the prices on the F1 cars just went up 50%.
this is the dream of every DIYer that wants to do a manual swap. if only all cars came this way.
Wow great content Sam, looking forward to this one. Don’t usually comment but I’m really enjoying this 👌🏻
Sam, let us know if your stepmom ever needs any help selling her cars. We can also help her get unstuck from anything she gets stuck in.
When you first cut the pedal I cringed but the final product came out beast! Nice job
This is very cool! It will be interesting to see what needs to be done to the ecus.
I reckon if you only took half the amount off the brake pedal you would still have plenty of clearance from the clutch pedal without interference. I like as much brake pedal as I can get. I reckon a sand blaster on the cut flange would make that edge 'factory'.
I got all the way to the end of the video and.... Not a single horrible 'oh crap, wtf now' moments. I don't know how I feel about this. I came here for the carnage! Give me CARNAGE! :P
This absolutely brilliant, definitely one of your best videos!
Thanks Sam for a cracking video and respect to the mod kit manufacturers who hav design edit so well.
Yes, very cool 👍🏾
Not that I could ever afford one, just fascinated to know that changing the transmission can be done👌🏾
Really cool kit, never realized they provided something like that. Did you really need to trim the brake pedal though? It seemed like it had plenty of space and I would have tried it out first without trimming.
Yeah I thought that as well after the clutch was installed "why did you have to cut it"?
Keeps your foot from getting caught on the brake pedal when pushing in the clutch. Vice versa
@@codysawyer4087 But your foot is the same width either way because there are times you have to push in the clutch AND the brake at the same time so the pedal being narrower really doesn't help.
Now YES, having a brake TOO wide causes issues. When I wore winter construction boots and pressed the brake I'd also press the gas in my F150.
I thought this at first too, but if you look online at pictures of a real factory brake pedal for manual 360’s this is exactly what it looks like … the mirror image of the clutch. Not necessary though so your point still stands
I suppose this is true, but I think this is how a manual car would have come from the factory, so I think they only tell you to do it because it retains the factory fit and finish.
That’s crazy that a car as technically when it comes to transmission work , someone would make an aftermarket part for it. You brave Sam!!
Very cool Sam, now you need to convert the blue one to manual aswell. 👌
Nice work in that accelerator pedal! Looked like a perfect match!
It's almost as if Ferrari expected people to do this swap. Absolutely amazing that what seems like such a complicated swap is actually pretty straightforward.
Step 1 clean the area around and above any hydraulic work you do. Grit getting into that will bugger the seals or score the bores, meaning it could have a short expensive life.
When you picked up that grinder I have to be honest I feared the worst! But credit to you you made a really good job of it!
I love this!! I wish there were more kits for other cars like the current generation of the Audi R8!!
I Always enjoy Sam's videos! Thank you Sam for the heard work and great job recording videos and working on the cars for your fun channel! It's not easy recording while trying to get the job done on the car. It takes three times as long if not more at times. But you didn't do the whole job on this Manual swap/conversion! You only did the pedals. What about the the shifter and electronics that will have to be changed over?? I also wanted to say I've tried to sigh up to "Mods and Miles" but it Won't Let me!! I feel Gypped! LOL. I've tried three times to make it work but it just shuts me out. It's probably got something to do with the fact that I live in Canada but no where has it been written or mentioned that the contest (Alex's give away) is for USA folks only so.....What's the goof my friend?? LOL.??
Super cool kit, really awesome that this is available!!
