    Thank you!
    This is a simple straight forward guide.
    I wish a video like this existed when my son started to play goal.
    Fantastic!

    Hi I am 5'2" I have a atk of 15.5. A skate size of 7. A 31" pad should fit perfectly but I want growing room so do you think that a 32" pad should work?

    I have those exact same pads! I've just starting learning how to do a butterfly slide and t-pushing. Are those pads decent enough for sliding compared to newer pads from all the makers? Maybe I'm just not that good yet ;)
    Cheers!

      +Horace Silver those pads are a bit old and most likely are good for the butterfly slide on a good sheet of ice. the newer brands will be much lighter and have a good landing pad for any quality of ice. i recommend getting a new type of pad if your able to pay the money :)

    I just done what you said with sizing... my skates are a 7, ankle to knee 16.5 and knee to center of thigh was 8.5. So adding that up you get 32 inches. Whereas i am whering a 35+1

      +Chris Millar same with me i am wearing some brains 35+1 and i wear a size 8.5 skate with 16.5 ATK...

    I have a new pair of V5 pads. Always played with old style before hybrid pads. I have had strains in both knees (nothing serious) since i started using these pads. The sizing is correct but the old style pads were always strapped very snug. I left the top of the new pads loose but snugged up the lower straps. My leg was fighting the pads and twisting my knee. The pad wanted to go into butterfly but because they were too tight, they were not allowed to rotate. So when I get back on ice, I will be loosening these pads up hoping for an injury free result.

    if the top of my thigh risers do not come into contact, could this be a sizing issue?

    my leg pads touch the ice when I am in a standing position, making it almost impossible to have a wide stance due to the pad forcing the skate off of the ice, is there anything i can do to stop this? I have only recently started playing the position and live in UK where it is not easy to fit pads :(

    It doesn't work for females. My skate size is 4 ATK is 15 and mid thigh is 6 = 25. I bought 27 inch pads and they are way too small. They are my first leg pads and now i have no idea what to buy. I'm 5'5".

  • @harleyshellhammer9635

    I don't understand the pad sizes being used. I've always had custom pads but looking into buying my first new set of pads in a "long time" as stock pads. My old pads were custom Vaughn's, 34" but that's total pad. I'm looking to buy the Rebook Premier X24. My measurements are, 12 skate, 18 2tk, and 7 mid thigh for a total of, 37". I'm 5'9+. According to Rebooks measurements, I'm 20" from ground to mid knee so I should wear a 33" pad. Rebook has +1, 2, 3 on top of the size. My question is, is the size they're giving measured only to my knee and the + number is from the knee to the thigh? Thank You

      @totalgoalietv 9 лет назад +2

      Harley Shellhammer - You're almost right. The 33" is the old total size of the pad (much like your Vaughn's) and the +1, +2, etc size is the extra amount added to the original measurement. This extra height is added to the thigh rise to help your pads seal a bit better while in the butterfly. So, in your case, if you wanted a Reebok X24 pad to match the size of your old Vaughns, you'd get a 33+1. Make sense?

    If you're still a growing Goalie you should go 2-3 inchs over your perfect size.

    I'm 6', skate size 10, atk 18,knee to center thigh is 10. By your measurements I'm 38". That doesn't sound correct. What size would you recommend?

    • @totalgoalietv
      @totalgoalietv 10 лет назад

      The measurement that we give is just a guide, and though it's not perfect it is good for giving goalie a good starting point when sizing pads. In my experience, and 18" ATK fits will in a 33 or 34" leg pad, depending on the model. I'd start there.

      Mike Collier I am also 6' and i would get a 36 or a 37, but i still need growing room so i would most likely get a 37 but if your not growing i would get a 36

    • @chriswhitaker329
      @chriswhitaker329 5 лет назад

      The measurement is a guide, meant to be a starting off point. I am 6' size 10, 28 atk, but i pay with 36" pads. Your playing style determines a good bit. Stand up doesn't need ask that extra pad above the knee. Knee pads underneath the goalie pad also diminishes the need for much more tab 4-6" above the knee

    Will a 34+2 be a 36 pad or still a 34 inch pad?
    Thank you

    • @Dodger24
      @Dodger24 5 лет назад +2

      This was 6 years ago but oh well.
      A 34+2 and 36 pad are not the same. The biggest difference will be the location of the knee cradle. On 36 inch pads it will be 2 inches higher than on a 34+2 pad which only has 2 extra inches at the very top. The plus inches on pads is all up to your personal preference
      Also dont take my word on this, I'm just now starting out getting gear, all my knowledge comes from the internet

    Im a size 32" but on ebay their is a deal of leg pads with glove and catcher at a low price this is a great deal but their a size 34" I really want them but I dont Know if I should. Please help!

    • @totalgoalietv
      @totalgoalietv 10 лет назад +1

      If the pads are brand new then I would say they would probably be too big. If they're somewhat older, then there's a chance that they've shrunk somewhat and you might be okay. Hard to say for sure.
