I have three years experience as a machinist and it took me a while to learn how to read calipers and micrometers. And you can teach someone to read mics in six minutes, truly amazing. Thanks
I have spent 45yrs working and living with the metric system and the imperial system has always confused me . Your explanation is the only one that truely makes sense . This alows me to finally make use of a number of engineering tools i have inherited, and for that I extend a very warm thankyou 😊☮️
Thank you! I am taking an Automotive class in college, and when the instructor showed us how to read a micrometer, it went over my head. this made it crystal clear.
All my years in maintenance I have not needed a micrometer. Now I'm working where I need this knowledge. I have seen them used, but never explained. Thank you! This is a very explanation.
I’m getting older and find it more difficult to remember new information. Just getting into machining as a hobby. I’ve watched other videos about micrometers in the past, but needed a “refresher” since I’ve mainly used digital calipers to this point, but now wanting closer tolerances. This is definitely the best, most simple instructional video I’ve watched. Thanks!
Best video I came across yet ! Clear explanation with place values and which reading on the micrometer corresponds with which place value ! A lot of other videos completely miss that
One of the best tutorials I've seen in regards to reading one of these micrometer and this is even after I had a QAT class that dealt solely with reading these things.
That's so easy and I just learned it lol wow. This video should get an award. It narrowed down so much that I got it down real quick. The method he uses to convey the whole system was very simple. Great vid!
This is an excellent - clear - step by step instructions. I'm 50 years old trying to secure employment in quality control. I need to learn, understand and apply this type of skill set. It is not easy but you have made this so much easier to understand. I still have a long ways to go...but thank you! Now to push my luck do you have suggestion- blue print reading 101. I am add and a little dyslectic. But really grateful for the simple yet precise presentation.
I've struggled to understand how to read a micrometer up until now. This video teaches in a way anyone can understand. The use of the red dot made it so easy to follow. I now know how to use my micrometer. What a great video. Thank you.
Wow all these years I never Knew how to read that until watching your video. Very clear. Explain very well . Thank you!!!! Can you teach us how to read the dial indicators
He did a great job of explaining how to read the micrometer. He made one mistake that I can tell. @ 0:45 he says "Point THREE seven five," and then says "Read it as seven hundred thirty five." I love youtube. You can learn so much from it.
How does this video have 33 down votes? This is the best micrometer video I've seen? Only explanation, 33 people were using Windows 8 & Internet Explorer.
Just started my new position as a machine operator and need to learn how to use this contraption....dude your explanation on how to use this thing so straight forward.....dude thanks!
these scales have been a mystery to me until I saw this video. Looks like I just needed someone to explain it to me in terms I could understand. Thanks!
Nice video with clear well-spoken narration. Great graphics too, nothing botchy. Do a vid covering the vernier scale, several ask in comments, so the interest (and confusion) is there.
Thank you sir you are a good teacher and I appreciate you showing me how to read a micrometer because I need to know it for my CNC lathe work. Thanks Landon.
Thank you in school now was having trouble. Great explanation if you could give quick reading tests on here that's great confidence for someone like me who is nervouse on tests. Thanks again future mechanic. GABE
Thank you so much! Im learning to use the micrometer, made the mistake of thinking the 350 mark was on the barrel was 375 while the thimble was under 0, I was over by 25. I saw the 375 line and my mind just thought it was 375. This makes it so simple. Thank you!
best tutorial ever im a diesel student and we have just taken apart a c9.3 cat engine and we have to measure the cam shaft crankshaft and deck height warpage etc and this saved my ass
Thanks for simple instructions! Needed a tiny refresher on micrometer readings 📚, been hs shop class since used one and that, so that's about 22 years ago 😆, and be honest, wasn't paying as much attention as should of have!!!
Clear and concise explanation. Interesting that you are using thousands, which is what the metric system is based on; yet as soon as the USA gets to 64ths of an inch you revert to the imperial system. Why not stick with the metric system all the way through using microns, millimetres and so on?
Thank you for such a helpful video! This is going to be helpful because I have to measure the out-of-round and taper wear limit on a small engine I'm rebuilding.
This is a very good tutorial on how to read micrometer. thank you for showing that. but can you explaining more about reading below the zero line and above the zero. for instance, if the zero on the thimble is below the reading line on the sleeve, do you count the .025? and the same question with the above line. thanks

You can’t beat a teacher who explains things clearly and precisely. That was a great video. 👍
One in a tousand teachers are born to teach, Sir you are in the one percent. Thank you
Didn't you mean in the one per mill? ;)
Hector David Maldonado wouldn't that make him the 0.1 percent? Since it's thousands?
lol, because math. 😂

I watched this video two times and I can honestly say it took 15 minutes to learn how to use this . best video

You have probably heard it before, but I want to remind you how much of a phenomenal instructor that you are. 😊
Finally, someone made this easy to understand! Thank you!!

this is probably the best tutorial i have seen. much better than what they taught back in class.
Thanks a lot. Just started a machinist class and we're on the chapter regarding precision tools. This helps to compliment my textbook reading
Thank you! My teacher tried teaching the class how to read one and it was a mess. This video was SUPER helpful!

Thanks for this instructional vid. Really helpful, clear, the repetition makes sure you understand. Great work. Cheers
i know this is old but the best explanation i have ever seen!
I officially learned how to read a standard micrometer with this video!
Thank you in school now was having trouble. Great explanation if you could give quick reading tests on here that's great confidence for someone like me who is nervouse on tests. Thanks again future mechanic. GABE
Best video I've watched for Micrometers

i should say that it is the best video ever i watched about micrometer..man you should be a teacher..are you a teacher ?
I have always had a decimal issue so your remedial explanation was very instructive, thank you
You are one of the best teacher. excellent explanation and the way how you explain thanks

Ok this was in insanely useful video. For my measurements test I got 100% in less then 10 minutes. Early day for me on Friday
Wow this made reading them so easy even my teacher couldn't explain it this clean
Needing some refreshing this video was excellent. Thanks for the upload.
I thank you for taking the time to teach the way I do. Just a fine video.
