@@chameleonboy2001 Agreed, with some of the new paddle submission costs it may eliminate quite a few of those small companies. It is sad in my opinion and is likely going to limit growth and increase costs to the consumers as well.

I agree the smaller company reviews are great. I have a pickleball apes and would have never considered that paddle without these paddle reviewers bringing these companies to our attention.

I was expecting to see my Thrive Azul at #5 and my Spartus Apollo should have been in 4th, 3rd, 2nd, and 1st place (IMHO). Other than that it was a great list. I’ll share it with my buddies who are in the market for a paddle.
Even after all these new paddle releases it's nice to hear that the J2K still holds your top spot. You had such good things to say about it during your initial dedicated review and glad to see that it has the consistency to maintain it's #1 spot!

Nice review. I have the Mark One and really like it, but I like the Spartus Apollo a lot more than it. Serves and drives I like equally with both paddles, but the Apollo shines in hands battles and has more pop and is still very controllable. The Mark One I like slightly more for touch shots. I think it comes down to if you definitely prefer hybrid shape, then you're better going with the Mark One, but if you're indifferent on hybrid vs. wide body, I think the Apollo outperforms the Mark One overall.
I love the J2 and would love to try out a J2K. Great paddles. Great price. 💥

To me Kevlar is a whole lot more interesting in power leaning paddles like Mark and hurache to dampen otherwise stiff faces. That said, the j2ks sw to tw ratio is crazy while the chorus might edge the diedem in 3k superiority. Pb is going to destroy themselves if they price out paddle mnf with cert fees.

What paddle besides the gen 3 s - gear box - or paddle tek would you recommend for a singles player ?
Not first!
Been using a J2k the past 4 weeks, spin is outstanding and volleys are solid, even those hit off-center. Best paddle I've owned so far (SLK Omega, Ronbus R3.16, Vatic Prism Flash, Neonic Force). Feels as plush as the Vatic Prism Flash while having quite a bit more power and pop.
Long term review?

Justin, here's my next question. When you guys are in the process of designing a new paddle do you have a specific idea as far as specs, feel and a certain playability? And how does that translate into your suggestions to the factory? And how much does serendipity come into play when you get a new prototype from the manufacturer?
Sorry for the long question. Just part of the nerd package I guess.

J2k is a good paddle. Have one in blue because I never win anything, but it would be great to be able to gift one to someone else.
Mine actually has an issue with one side being smoother than the other. I reached out to them about it, and after an initial hiccup in their options to replace that I found less than stellar,I replied back last night and within 5 minutes I got an email that a replacement is on the way, and I can return mine after it arrives, so I'm happy about that.
Despite the issue with mine (which was apparenrly a small number of first run paddles impacted) I've enjoyed it so far. I just only serve on the rough side 😅

I have not tested the Azul yet so I could not say where it would land compared to these paddles unfortunately
