I just got one of these as a present and while searching in a sea of 10-20 minute tutorials, I found this. This is such a great, helpful video. Simple and well explained. Thank you!!!!
Please be very careful with those lens balls on sunny days. They focus the sun's rays, and can burn you very quickly, or even worse, start a fire. NEVER leave it unattended outside the bag on a sunny day! (I've been "bit" by mine...)
Yes, That's we it's helpful to bring along a sock or even better a drawstring carry pouch - to carry your ball in. Be mindful that the sunlight can become very hot 🔥🔥🔥 very quickly! Love your video 💙 Jacob, best one out there for beginners! Often times I'm fiddling with my camera and I smell that burning smell before I realise what's happening! Seriously though, 🔮 A great, fun way to bring some creativity back into your photography. lensballs.blogspot.com/
@@thejacobbunn It says that in the instructions when you get the ball, at least mine did, I haven't really tried it yet except to tell someone's fortune!
I use the canon 60D and it’s been pretty great. I actually have a lot of videos about the 60d and it’s a really affordable camera! That’s awesome it’s so much fun to take crystal ball photos I think you’ll have a great time 😁
ncs2000 Hi great question, I personally keep it around f/4 just because it really makes the ball stand out and does a good job blurring the background, and I personally use a 50mm most of the time!
Hey Federico great question, the one I use is 1.7 lbs, I feel this was a pretty good weight and size that doesn't effect my camera bag very much! Here is a link to the one I use specifically if you're interested: amzn.to/2WANRa7
Hey thanks for watching, I will definitely try to get a video out sometime soon about how I shoot crystal ball photography, but for the most part the look is from using a lower aperture (1.8) on a 50mm lens
Yes I think you can get one from eBay and not have a problem but I’d look for ones that have been bought by others first to make sure it’s good quality and the right kind of glass!
Hey I personally use Snapseed the app and go to the brush tool, and then saturation. From there I do -10 saturation and like to desaturate the background myself until it looks how I want! If you were looking for tutorials I’d search “partial black and white effect tutorial” thanks for watching man!
It depends on where I’m shooting but I almost always use manual focus and then keep in mind shooting handheld you want your shutter speed to be faster so you don’t get any shake from shooting handheld
That’s awesome Dorin! I use the app “Snapseed” and then I use the brush tool, select saturation and drop that to -10. Then I just brush away everywhere I don’t want color!
Personal preference on what you like in each photo, I think it’s kind of a cool look of having a mini world in your hands. I take quite a few without it in my hand though

For sure! I’ve actually had the same happen, they do get hot very fast! Thanks for stopping by the video!!

Hey me too! That’s awesome, crazy this video hit 1,000 I appreciate it.
What kind of camera are you using? I just got a crystal ball for Christmas and I’m super interested in getting into photography and editing!

Question though. Should you use a polarizing filter to reduse the reflections on it? Or does it not matter?
It doesn’t matter most of the time, with that said there are certain shots you may want to have a polarized filter for just to get a specific look
Amazing video
Hey thanks! I really appreciate that
what is the recommended focal length and aperture?
ncs2000 Hi great question, I personally keep it around f/4 just because it really makes the ball stand out and does a good job blurring the background, and I personally use a 50mm most of the time!
I have a canon t6i what are the settings for a good close up aperture iso ...
I usually try to keep my ISO in the range of 100-800 when shooting with a crystal ball
What program would you use on the computer to remove color, or do any editing?
I really like Lightroom for computer photo editing personally! Thanks so much for taking the time to watch
Please advice me about the best size to buy, the weight is important when you this to your equipment.

Could u post a video of how exactly u set up settings on manual mode to shoot with the crystal ball that comes out blurred in the background
Hey thanks for watching, I will definitely try to get a video out sometime soon about how I shoot crystal ball photography, but for the most part the look is from using a lower aperture (1.8) on a 50mm lens
On manual mode right
Yep
do you think that a regular ebay cristal ball is good enouth ? i wanna make sure i buy a good product
Yes I think you can get one from eBay and not have a problem but I’d look for ones that have been bought by others first to make sure it’s good quality and the right kind of glass!
I have trouble getting the camera to focus on the ball can you help
Hi. How do I remove the bg colour as mentioned in your video? I mean if I were to look it up, what should tutorial should I search for??

@@thejacobbunn And thank you very much for replying. Great vid btw.
No problem at all man I’m glad I could help, and thank you!
hand held what settings are the best do you auto or manual focus
It depends on where I’m shooting but I almost always use manual focus and then keep in mind shooting handheld you want your shutter speed to be faster so you don’t get any shake from shooting handheld
Ty
may i know what lens are you using? and what's the diameter of the crystal ball? thanks
Yeah the lenses were mainly a Canon 50mm 1.8, and a 18-55mm. The crystal ball was 3-1/5” /80mm. Thanks for stopping by my channel by the way!
thanks bro! keep it up!
What editing app do you use?
I use Final Cut Pro X! and thank you for subscribing I really appreciate it!
When it comes to photo editing I use snapseed and darkroom!
Ok, I got a glass ball, now please teach me how to remove the colours outside and let only the colors inside the ball.
That’s awesome Dorin! I use the app “Snapseed” and then I use the brush tool, select saturation and drop that to -10. Then I just brush away everywhere I don’t want color!
why would you want your fingers in the photos?
