    Aaaaaaaand we’re off! I got the plus kit for $425 and replaced the scale as well. I took the analog caliper to the garage for woodworking because I bought a digital set before the kit. Other than that, I have been very happy with the results of the first 500 9mm rounds I’ve loaded using RCBS dies. One thing missing from the list is annealing equipment be it a machine or a drill and flame.

    I reload shot shells. Already have some of the equipment. It also does not hurt to have some back up equipment just in case. Good video. I’m very interested in getting a rebel press and getting into metallic reloading. I have several calibers of firearms. Nothing to off the wall. They are all common calibers. Just a lot of hunting and military surplus and a few ARs. Several pistols and revolvers. Posting that list saved me some work. I’ve been researching and putting together a list that I’ve made several corrections on. I see a newer or better gadget to do a task and it changes. I think I’m about ready to start ordering stuff. Thanks for the video. 👍👍👍

    I agree on the electronic scale supplied, would pay extra to have the balance beam, and, I'd prefer the primer tool with the shellholder, may need it for some cartridges that don't work in "universal " jaws due to rim thickness or diameter. I don't like using a trickler, so for me, they could keep it and give me calipers instead. That is a great recommndation list you came up with too. No kit is perfect, but, the RCBS kit is pretty good.

  • @xnorcal831x
    @xnorcal831x 3 года назад +1

    Fill the bottom of the trickler with lead it helps from tipping over. Digital is great for scales and calipers but they will give bad reading every once in awhile. I would prefer analog cause they wont break or run out of batteries.

    I want to like the Rebel press.
    I really do.
    It should be at an angle to the bench. This is just more ergonomic.
    I like that they finally fixed the spent primer system. It looks like priming was a whoops we forgot that. Or, they realized many never prime on the press. I seat primers as I inspect cases.
    The RCBS Universal hand primer should definitely be held in the hand before buying another brand. With that said, Frankford Arsenal makes a nice one.
    The new powder measure looks nice. Definitely one to consider.
    So many times extruded powders confound the new reloader. A set of Lee scoops & trickler really is a simple solution. Not many shooters load huge quantities of rifle rounds at a sitting. Scoops and tricklers use your shooting eye hand coordination and are not that slow.
    I prefer beam scales & dial calipers. You can sell unwanted pieces of kits and get what you prefer. All brands have good resale value.

    The review of the product was most likely 5 minutes and all the other information was nice to see what you use in making your bullets. I do think you should have reached out to RCBS to replace the scale and do the review after they had because they will. I do like your videos. I myself only load for accurate hunting loads not necessarily one hole stuff but sometimes pretty close. One thing that I would put on the list is a press stand. I for years did without but just recently got a press stand for my single stage just because I knew it would be nice after using my Dillon 550B progressive for years with one. I only wish I would have done it sooner. Nice video busy, but nice.

    I didn't really want a Rebel (or RCS4) as I was already set but for ~$100 @ Midway on sale new a few months back I couldn't help myself and now use it strictly for bullet swaging.
    Rather than a small "corelle" style bowl, I've found a very small pet bowl (squared off edges) rubbed on the inside with powdered graphite to be superior due to the far more stable surface by design and virtually unbreakable.
    I don't use a drop (despite owning one) and prefer scoops (I have new and VERY old) and typically drop less than a grain off on the scale. A 0.17cc scoop is near ideal to finish it off too but doesn't come in the kit by default. Lee provided it at no additional charge in an order I placed with them for something else. I have a powder trickler but have virtually quit using it in favor of the above.
    I have various "tools" to make things easier and I've no gripe with the Lyman aluminum funnel I got for a song. However, I rarely get them out and generally prefer the caliber/diameter specific Satern I splurged on that aren't that expensive anyway in the calibers I load most frequently.

    • @Accidic
      @Accidic Год назад

      Oh, and I absolutely HATED grease in the Rebel. I avoided using after foolishly greasing it initially. I took it apart, cleaned out all the grease, and bought a simple push/pump oiler compatible with the zerk (~$7 on amazon) and loaded up with a good oil and it's been pleasant ever since.

  • @Ensign_Cthulhu
    @Ensign_Cthulhu 3 года назад

    Hopefully you can get them to replace the scale and review it in due course. I've lost bits off my 13 year old Partner press and hand primer through my own carelessness, and RCBS still sent replacements out to me for nothing.
    I wish this kit had been on the shelf when it came time for me to buy my first press. As for the primers, I'd rather have to park a small trash can under the press than have the primers spit out at some unpredictable angle.
    IIRC the universal primer does have its limitations regarding the cases it can accept; the standard hand primer, using shell holders, doesn't have that issue.
    I want analogue dial calipers because analogue dial calipers never run out of batteries.

    Just added a rebel press to my bench near my rock chk of 30 years. QUESTION... I see you mentioned how tight the tolerances are with the press/ram. I actually have quite a bit of play in my linkage below the ram. Mostly on the upper linkage. Enough play where you can move the ram arm back and forth about a 1/8”. Both at the top arm position as well as when the ram is fully extended. My rock chucker has zero play in the linkages. Just curious if anyone else has experienced this with their rebel ? RCBS stated is was normal but I thought it was way to sloppy...
