Love the Sequoia content! We have an 03 Limited. Bought it new. 229k miles and counting. We are an all Toyota household. 97 SC300 / 03 Sequoia / 08 LS600HL / 10 Prius 5. 715k total miles.

I love your channel. I like the way you're straightforward, simple and common Sense. You make everything nice and easy to understand. I have a 2005 4Runner limited 4.7 and that SUV drives like it just came off the lot after 15 years and 200,000 miles later.

Mine is a 2005 SR5 V8 4x4 and it drives better than a brand new car because of my 3 inch lift with bilstein 5100s.
176,000 miles and literally nothing wrong except all 4 ball joints are busted from the lift and hard off-road driving almost every day. Also I have a door lock actuator that’s bad but the motor comes in tomorrow for $8.
I beat the hell out of it and it never breaks. I fried the ECU driving through water and I drove the thing for 5 months with a BROKEN computer.

My brother has a 2004 4 Runner with 242,000. Timing belt and related components were recently replaced. I’ll be installing the outer tie rods (555 series from Napa) and Spicer U joints from Summit Racing over the next week or so. With maintenance, the 4.7 engine and the Aisin made transmission are known to go well beyond 500,000 miles.

I recently change the spark plugs in my 2010 Toyota Camry with the 2.5L Four Cylinder engine and 6 Speed Manual Transmission. My car has 209,000 miles on it and I changed the original Plugs at 203,000 and some change miles. The iridium plugs still look good. But two out of the four ignition coils had cracks in them and the car drove perfectly fine. No misfires or any codes. I changed them out with and put Denson Ignition coils back in the car. I should be good for another 200,000 miles. Hopefully my Toyota engine will last that long. It should I change the oil every 5,000 miles with full synthetic 0W-20 motor oil. Thanks Peter you are the BEST!!! You have saved me a ton of money and headaches.

Be careful when using anti seize. Wet torque is a lot different than dry torque.

For installing Denso Iridium TT plugs in my 2011 5.7, left the gap at the out-of-the-box 0.036 spec and engine ran very poor. Email answer from Denso tech arrived indicating to set plugs at 5.7 factory and owners manual spec of 0.044. Re-gapped the plugs to 0.043-0.045 using wire gauge, and the 5.7 runs great. Don't let the oil in plug tubes run into the cylinder, without turning the engine over without a sparkplug installed to blow the oil out of the cylinder. Had oil in one tube, it looks like it seeps in from the head end. Doesn't look like oil leaking down the tube from the coil seal, that is all clean.

The previous owner of my 4runner with this engine has drawn the cylinder numbers on each one, it’s gonna be helpful when my spark plugs get old.

Two things, I put the antiseize on my plugs at 120k, then went to change them at 240k, the antiseize made them come out hard. The plugs say not to put any antiseize on them as the plugs have a coating on the threads. #2, I usually put some diaelectric grease on the spark plug top so the coil pack will come off easier next time.

Yup, my #5 had a misfire in my 2004 with 130k miles this year. Pulled the plug and it was finger tight without the ratchet. Coil was burnt also. Threads were stripped. These plugs were from the factory. Crazy and good to know I'm not the only one lol

just my opinion, nothing wrong with anti-seize, but should use less torque than spec when using any kind of lubricant on threads, since you are effectively rotating it more to reach the same torque

I recently fixed the back door latch and replaced the lock actuator of my 05 sequoia but now the back does not lock. I was wondering if you can make a video to show how to fix it or if you do can you let me know?

  • @johnaclark1
    @johnaclark1 3 года назад +1

Hey Peter...wondering if you have any tips for the Toyota coil connectors that like to break the locking tabs when you attempt to disconnect them. It happens to me especially on Siennas. Those connectors on the Sequoia looked about the same yet you had no issues disconnecting them.

I have an 05 Tundra, like a fool I got the wrong spark plugs (Denso SK20HR11) and got them all installed before noticing the ones that came out were SK20R11, no 'H'.
The 'H' is approximately .130 longer threads into the combustion chamber. The truck seems to run good, better than it did with the worn out plugs. Can I just leave them in and use premium octane fuel instead of regular, or should I replace them with the correct ones right away?

  • @luke_8_17

Good video. I found getting and unclipping the connectors was the hardest part of changing out plugs. Yes they were a pain in the _ss I had to make sure I could get all of them off before going forward with changing plugs. Why are they designed like that.

I use a lot of your videos as references for my LX470. Thanks! Recently went to change the sparks and found that all eight 10mm bolts to the coilpacks were extremely corroded like the previous owner bathed this thing in sea water lol. I took it to a pro and that person said he never recommends his customers to ever change sparkplugs until 300k or more on TOYOTA! Basically until there’s a misfire and in that case you’ll need new coilpacks anyway. Is this legit advice? My truck has 272k with no previous record, no CEL, idles ok. Could use more power and response which is another reason I wanted them changed.

Would love to see a video on the Atrack system my vsc light keeps turning on. I took it to the mechanic and they said my computer is bad and I had to take it to the dealership and it's going to be over a thousand bucks. So I just reset it every 3-7 days. I want to get a second opinion before I take it to the dealership you know how that goes. Thanks

    • @davidkaminski615

Most likely it's the VSC module that's gone bad. Someone in my forums just wrote in with the exact problem and "wipe the code" solution which resulted in a loss of control of the vehicle and a crash. Hope you find a solution one way or another.
