Good advice tommy. Well done on the GC30. I yelled out as you were heading out for the second lap. I was on the way back in from the first.

Hello Tommy, I have been a sub since the beginning and I am happy to see that your RUclips channel continues to grow and you are improving the quality of the content you make. Keep it up!
Will you always continue to maintain your running training or will you focus only on cycling in the future?

    Love your video's!
Can we see more from Gold Coast during your running sessions? You seem to only run over the GC boulevard?
And maybe an equipment update? Shoes, watch, do you use hartrate band?

    Hey Tommy, very nice content!
I am from Brazil, starting this hybrid journey after 10 years of bodybuilder style of training.
I enjoy to watch your videos. You are an inspiration, man!
How long did it take to run your first half marathon since you start running?

Great content Tommy. I love how you don't hide your HR data, that is really helpful for us new runners. You coming from a body building background into running did you ever struggle with the HR being too high when you started running?

Hey mate I only started looking at my HR after around 2 years of running so I'm not sure where it was at the start sorry.

I can tell you as someone who was a 4 sport athlete and is big into lifting. When I transitioned into “hybrid” style training, I struggled with my HR. I’ve always done conditioning for sports up to 6 mile runs but never paid attention to my HR. Once I started recently, I noticed ,while my HR never “feels” excessive, I’ll look down 3 or 4 miles in and be about 166-184. 180s if I’m on hills, I have to really concentrate on slow breathing. I think it stems from sports like basketball, football, track where all my movements were explosive. It’s like my body is preprogrammed to get amped up and spike my heart rate. If I take slow deep breaths and focus on form I can slow my heart rate down but it takes a conscious and concerted effort. For reference sake I am 6’3” and 205lbs at about 12% bf.

As nice as the sun is I absolutely love this colder weather for my morning runnings! It’s a hack for way faster paced at lower heart rates 😂

Hey Tommy - Peter here from South Africa. We have just started the hyrox training and have 2 races booked for this year. I am starting to build up my running and I would like to know how to prevent shin splints and the best way to work with fatigue as we are doing 2 sessions a day now so the legs get very tired. Your advise would be awesome!
Thanks for the great videos man

And when do you train your core and stabily

Good video 👍 I been struggling with classical leg training interfere my running also and recently switched to very easy training to manage fatigue. I have one question, do you train legs in running shoes or rather in gym like specific? And why? Thank you and keep going 👍💪🏼

      @tommynewell  2 месяца назад +1

Flat base lifting shoes are best for leg day bro, you want that good stability.

I like you “eat in a day” videos and your gear videos. Going to the farmers market, giving tips on buying products and ect.

Usually when I back off on the big intense running volume I start getting stronger again in the gym.
