I was lucky to see Johnny Winters about a year before he passed on, in a small theater of maybe 500 seats, and he opened with the headless guitar, and the first 5 notes or so my eyes welled up with tears, and I realized I was in the presence of greatness.
One of my fondest musical memories was when I was about 25. I got to see the Mule play right after they released thier first record. It was out in the middle of the woods at a private show - a spur of the moment thing - when they were driving through the area on the way to another gig. A rich guy - a friend of a friend - had access to a plantation house and got them to stop there and stay the night and play. There was only around 50 people there - everybody was smoking weed - and Allen Woody was walking around with a big, 3 foot tall red bong. It was a magical experience. They played right next to a lake with the full PA setup. They were on fire. One of the best nights of my life.
I was there at MSG for "The Brothers" show. I saw the Allman's 60 times. So I couldn't miss this last somewhat Allman show (No Gregg = No Allman Brothers Band). Fun night. I flew home the next day and the world went crazy. Warren is amazing. I love the talk abouit the audience "losing it", I had that happen early in my concert going career. I have chased that feeling ever since. Not all shows are equal, you have to go see many, and one of those times, you might, maybe, possibly, find magic.
Warren is such a talented musician, great singer, guitar player & composer. Great dude, down to earth, the real deal. Huge inspiration! Thank you Paul.
What a tremendous guitarist Warren is and singer/songwriter as well. I've been to many ABB shows and Mule. One of the hardest working musicians that just gets it and always puts on a great show, ALL OUT! always puts a smile on your face.
My first concert was The Jimi Hendrix Experience at MSG IN May 1969...but the greatest one was the original Allman Brothers at the Fillmore East, June 26, 1971 the late show. The Brothers played until 7am! To this day, the the best show in my life! I was also at the last Allman Brothers show at the Beacon Theatre on Oct. 28, 2014, great send off!
My First concert when I was in High School was Deep Purple when they came out out with their "Burn" record. Loud as hell, my ears were ringing for 2 days.
Just great. Thanks, Paul, thanks, Warren. BTW, speaking of Afro Blue, check out Coltrane's version. It's the opening number on "Live at Birdland." Simply amazing.
In other words It's the man playing the guitar and it's not the guitar. Warren probably has 250 guitars that people have given him but I don't believe we will ever see Warren changing his Les Paul's for PRS's.

@Angel Mordechai Thanks, things were really drying up, I'll check that out.

Thanks for your music Warren! Lifetime of great times listening to you play.

Two of my heroes chatting... I can say I wouldn't be the person I am today without what they did.
Those two...a thousand smiles watching this. Thanks guys ☺️!

2 legendary Gentlemen. Both have mastered their craft and continue to move forward.
Pauls giving me chills telling his concert memories. So cool to hear. Bless you both.

I saw the ABB and Gov’t Mule more times than I can count and met Warren once before a Beacon Theatre Show. A true gentleman and amazing musician.
I was at the MSG show. I know there are risks but I am responsible for myself and I was happy to take the risk. Awesome night.
It‘s about time for a Warren Haynes signature PRS, guys!
nah, he's happy with 594 singlecuts.
I agree 100% "Tales of Ordinary Madness" was all done by Warren and PRS guitars and a lot of early ABB, Warren played them live.
Big fan of Warren 🙏🏻👍🏻 Great video, great series

I love Warrens music. All of it. His slide playing in particular is very underrated

Simply the best.
Saw Warren playing a Firebird in Richmond one night. Outside... That's Fun...
Two musical icons
That had to be one of my favorite “Long distance calls” so far. Well done Paul!! What’s next?? Can’t wait.
