  • In this episode, Paul calls Carlos Santana. These two old friends catch up on what a strange year 2020 has been, they talk about how Carlos' support of Paul in the late 1980s helped to launch PRS Guitars into the limelight, and what it was really like in San Francisco in the late 1960s. All this and more in the season 2 finale of Long Distance. Enjoy!

So incredible to be living in this time and growing up with this music. And during PRS guitars while the man is here. There’s no Leo or Orville around. But we have Paul and that’s awesome!

At the risk of repeating what any PRS owner knows, it's actually a privilege to own and play Paul's guitars. I know they are expensive, but after years of owning and playing many other guitars, and finally getting one (I have a few now) you can't afford not to own at least one. They are absolutely magnificent.

What an experience - it is embedded in my memory banks like it was yesterday.
Carlos Santana is one of those unique musicians that maintained a continuity in musical creative output over his entire professional life.

His first factory was in the attic of the Ram's Head Tavern on West St in Annapolis, less than a mile from here (before it became a music venue). I knew one of his cohorts in the early 1990's, who started with Paul, dragging the guitars to concerts (I had never even heard of PRS). It was sheer tenacity, innovation, and high standards that built his success. Thankful that he never gave up.
