I loved the first album. I hated this album at first listen - mainly because of Eyes&Mouth, which to me kind of sounds like a mish mash of adult contemporary with those piano chords and Greenwood’s thumbling guitar. But this album is a different pill from the previous one. I absolutely love it now.
Thanks for watching, I do still like a good chunk of this album. I just have such high expectations for this project, which is why I was harsh in my review. At the end of the day a B- is still a solid rating and I think the drums in particular are incredible l.
I've now listened to it probably 5 times all the way through. There are certain songs that I think are absolutely incredible. But others just still aren't quite doing it for me. Glad you love it though! Even at the end of the day, I still gave it a B- which is a fairly respectable score.
@@EarWaxReviewsOfficial isn't it like that for all albums? maybe youre asking for too much. wouldn't you say the majority of the album is great? there is so much crap out there , this takes the cake, but music and art are subjective
I don't usually like any Radiohead a whole bunch on first listen, to be honest. Kid A and In Rainbows are my two favorite albums from Radiohead,, but they were growers. I feel the same about The Smile. They grow on me quite alot. As far as needing side projects to sound different,. I guess that doesnt matter to me. The amount of good songs on an album that I want to relisten to is the bottom line for me. Is it worth multiple listens? Thom and Johnny are always more artsy than hook driven. I also enjoy the subtle changes that Tom Skinners drumming contributes that takes it a little bit away from Radiohead territory. This lineup is my favorite of any Thom Yorke side project or, for that matter, any Radiohead side project. I love it more and more with each listen, as I most often than not do with Radiohead and The Smile.
I always listen to an album at least 3 times before doing a review. It's certainly not a bad album, and I do really enjoy the drums in particular. But like the other The Smile albums I was just underwhelmed. Thanks so much for watching!
Interesting to hear reviews, good or bad lol, but over use and thinking of Radiohead ! No need to go into how other bands are, this is a review of The Smile cutouts album, not others ! It doesn’t really matter who they do or don’t sound like as the review should just be about the tracks and album as a whole in my eyes Did you really listen to the album properly ? As a cohesive piece it works for me, I get it 👍 I don’t know what you were expecting but may have given a better review if you had gone in with an open mind and not being so fixated Of course I am a fan of both so maybe I am a tad bias lol but if I didn’t like it I’d say 😉
I appreciate you watching it. It's hard not to compare a new project to an artists previous band. Especially when they sound so similar. I did still enjoy some parts of the album.
Not a moron at all! Cool review. I really liked the last 3 songs, which as you said reminded me a lot of KID A era. Greetings from Panamá!
Haha, thanks! I appreciate the kind words. Thanks for watching!
to me, its a phenomenal album, I love everything about it

The lead instrument of Zero-Sum is actually a guitar, played with crazy delay tricks by Jonny. I've never heard a guitar sound like that.
Really! Wow yea I don't think I have either. Thanks for watching!
it grows on you slowly until you realize its a masterpiece

I'd say a few songs are great, most are ok, and some I don't like. Hence the B-
