Y frames rust out, HK, T, G we’re famous for it. If the rust is not too bad you can tig weld a patch on them. Otherwise you have to hunt down a set of Y frames and replace them.

I am a noob when it comes to the older Holdens, pretty good with the little Toranas but these are new to me. Which part is the Y frame? Can you see it in the video?

Cool EK Ute mate, which Auction site did find it in?

That was at Lloyds. Somebody pasted a screenshot of some Toranas in the auction and I spotted this and had to have a go at it.

Here in the USA, i gotta 1960 ranchero. I fixed all the rust. Yours is a very cool shape sweet lookin body. The rust,,, ya gotta make patches and weld it in. Cut and butt. Nice ute. Rust never sleeps so treat.the inner cavities and improve drainage and keep it dry with car cover and very rare washes. Classics need love. Trannys get tight and sticky it can loosen up when ya get the motor goin.

Yeah the rust is going to be a bit of a pain but we'll get it sorted.
The Aussie 4 speed is also known to have issues selecting 1st and reverse at the same time when they get a bit old.
It also is catching on the tunnel too as someone else mentioned in the comments.
Going to need some slice and dice in that area too I think.
Would love to see some pics of your Ranchero if you want to send them to borkengarage@gmail.com

Even when new if you squirt fuel down the centre it will come out of the bushing , when going it has suction

Good to know but I'm pretty sure it was leaking out of the jets on the bottom of the fuel bowl.....
I honestly thought it would fire right up but when I saw the condition of the hoses and the fuel dripping I decided it wasn't a good idea to push it.
I don't know if this was an unfinished project or what stage it was at so just wanna be careful not to burn it and my shed down.

I'll be honest, I was hoping to see a gray engine, but it is still cool!

A locksmith will have you into the spare in seconds. Nice ute, most got worked to death. Any rust around the tops of the guards?

      @BorkenGarage  Год назад

Thanks John, not any rust on the front guards that I can see.
      She looks pretty solid.
I crawled under the front last night and confirmed she has a HR front end (I assume) with Disc brakes so that's one less thing I have to do, although the ball joints and discs probably need to be replaced.

@@BorkenGarage When I saw that booster, I thought HR discs. I remember to this day when my Dad brought his brand new EK home in 1961, neighbours came from everywhere to look at her. I was 11 then and fixated with the Southern Cross in the horn button. A lot of Holdens under the bridge since then. Looking forward to this one's recovery.
