  • Hello and welcome
    i picked up this pair of old holden Utes locally from me, both very rough cars that look like they’ve lived a life or ten. Can I get them running and driving again? Watch and find out.
    Cheers Jake

    My first car was a hj kingy in 1979... If the gear selector rubbers ( near the firewall ) are worn they will cause all sorts of grief. Nice to see you bringing them back to life

      Aren’t they. The more it ran the better it got. Not sure if the mic picked up all the lifter chatter and bearing noise when I first cranked it. But it wasn’t good at all

    When you pour fuel down the carb , you need to open the throttle to start, because its actually flooded. Better idea is to pour it through the breather tube and fill the carby bowl. And it wont run properly until the lifters fill with oil

    Frozen clutch no problem , just start it in gear, it will soon release itself, but you would need to be able to start it from within the cabin.

    • @V8JakeC
      @V8JakeC  Год назад +1

      My trigger to start it reaches so I can tuck it under the driver side wiper so I tuck it in there and lean out and start it. Driving it without the clutch wasn’t the problem it was the stopping part. If it had a clutch I would of worked on the brakes somewhat. But both those problems combined and the other car, I called it a day with this one.

      @@V8JakeC Do you have a handbrake ? . Possible it wouldnt have started in gear anyway if the brakes are locked on.

    • @V8JakeC
      @V8JakeC  Год назад +1

      Handbrakes with these old things in this shape have only resulted in two instances for me in the past. Either the brakes lock on, or it does nothing. I find it best to not wake snakes in that situation.
      I did bump the ignition with it in gear to see if it would move in gear ( off camera ) I dare say if I jacked up the rear and hit the button it would of started in gear.

      Don’t mind a bit of vgg but more of a junkyard digs fan! Me too. Unfortunately are laws aren’t as lenient as the US as far as rego goes. Never bought a wreckers. This is just from years and years of doing what you saw in the video. Just never thought about filming it 😂

    The 1st ute. Was the gearbox linkage jammed? They were mongrels for that

    • @V8JakeC
      @V8JakeC  Год назад +1

      Yes they are. Unfortunately for me it wasn’t the issue. This would go in and out of gear with ease when the engine wasn’t running. When it was running and clutch in it just as the gear should engage there was a huge resistance on the shifter. Clutch gone.

  • @graeme02
    @graeme02 Год назад +1

    I'm thinking worn gear linkages on the 202. It's an easy check

    • @V8JakeC
      @V8JakeC  Год назад

      Wish it was that easy. Car would go in and out of gear with ease without the car running.
