I really like your content especially, the laser grbl. I got a 7 watt I don’t have Lightburn. That’s what most videos are geared towards. It’s nice having some details and recipes, where I have a good starting point so I don’t burn through material testing things out.
I do prefer using Lightburn for cutting but I started out with LaserGRBL and it works great. It took me about a year of having it available to me for me to start using Lightburn and that's just for my CO2 lasers.
I just bought a Three Trees Totem S 40 watt laser and was wondering if it will cut and engrave painted clear acrylic and can it do it at the same time (engrave first, then cut it out)? Thanks!
So,, that's a weird comment to reply to. So,, to make a diode output more light,, they widen the gap that the electrons jump across. This makes for a wider rectangle beam. Rectangles don't focus down to fits very well. So,, my weird reply - dependending on how the beam is oriented it will cut way faster in one direction. And might cut slower in other directions.
@@brakthehun bandgap affects wavelength, not raw device output power. It's the number of emitted photons that affects output power. Beam focal shape also doesn't necessarily depend on power, except in cases where manufacturers use multiple laser diodes in parallel with combining optics to increase output. The focal shape mainly depends on the focusing optics, and possibly the physical characteristics of the laser's etched waveguide.
That was a wonderfull lesson thank you very much for doing this video. I really appreciate it. 👍🏼
Love watching your tutorials. I have learnt a lot from them. Can you perhaps do a video on cutting paper or card stock please.
Sure!!

Hi there.
Can diode lasers cut or etch mirrored acrylic?
Thanks for the video.
@@mikekiske yup. Just reverse the image and etch the back.
@@brakthehun Thank you very much.
@VISIONSHIKA Yeah. It's best to remove that first.
Could you not just paint the lighter colours black or doesn't that work?
Great tutorial. But I have a question. If the borderspeed is 40, is it possible if the S-MAX power 255 ? I thought the max power is only 100
Different machines use different numbers for max. Most use 1000
Anyone. What is the best power speed setting for 5.5watt ortur SF module. Thanks.
Just wondering if you could spray paint clear acrylic black like when engraving tile?
Try it!!

Your machine can cut and engrave dark acrylics. You may have to become more proficient with LaserGRBL or use LightBurn to do it.

Can I cut clear acrylic masked with a black paper sticker or the brown protection paper?
Not with a diode laser. It will cut through the paper in top,, go through the acrylic with out cutting it and cut the paper on bottom.
@@brakthehun wow
Does this machine cut 6mm or 3mm transparent acrylic?
Not well. It can cut transparent red / amber / yellow. It won't cut clear.
Would it cut golden acrylic? Golden like a mirror
Yup. Yellow cuts pretty well and you can cut through the reflective stuff from the back.
How would I get the Perimeter and Focus buttons on my LaserGBL screen ?

Will it do red?
A CO2 laser will do red acrylic very well. A blue diode will struggle. You may need to go fast and do multiple passes.
Would it cut clear acrylic?
No. The blue light passes through the clear acrylic.
i try to cut white acrilyc and nothing ? Any idea?
What diode do you have??
Try just turning on the diode and see if it punches a hole.
