    At 4:56, the compound rhythm is a polyrhythm, specifically 4 against 3 (4:3). "Pass-the-goddamn-butter"

    Great video! Subbed. I just upgraded from a tonelab SE to the helix about a month ago. I'm no stranger to this modeling stuff but there is a ton to learn! I like the two, hard panned delays much more than the standard ping pong delay. Also, I didn't realize you could do 2 completely separate signal paths... Stoked(even more than I already was) to jam now! Cheers

    I have set the exact same settings up on my Helix Native and yours sounds far more driven than mine. Have you added an external drive pedal before the Helix?. Great video Lucas.

    • @LucasFowler
      @LucasFowler  3 месяца назад

      No external drives, that sounds like probably a combination of pickup output discrepancy and/or your interface’s input volume, as those are paramount to the amount of drive. You’ll need to experiment with the amount of signal you’re sending into Helix native, basically. Hope that helps!

    What are your running the Helix into? Do you have 2 separate powered amps or monitors? I run my helix through a single powered Alto 2-10 monitor which has 2 discrete inputs that I run into as L-R from the helix, but I don't get that stereo spread. I am wondering if I can get a true stereo sound out of it. As a comparison, the amp I use in my rehearsal studio is a Blackstar ID 260TVP, which has a "true stereo" feature. It's insane - it feels like the guitar is coming from all over. Totally mind boggling 3D sound with mod, chorus, delay and reverb. I think it's set up like a JC-120 with a separate power section for each side, but am not sure. Do you need 2 different powered monitors/cabs in L-R for the stereo effect?

    • @LucasFowler
      @LucasFowler  4 года назад

      Well in this case I was running it into two separate inputs on my interface, but to get a true stereo spread, you need to discreet inputs, power amps and speakers. You also don't want the speakers to be too close to each other, or the stereo effect will be much less noticeable. When I play live with that set up I have 2 separate Headrush monitors, one gets the "left" signal and the other gets the "right". I also sometimes use a stereo power amp into a stereo 2x12 cab. In that case the speakers are pretty close together, so I don't use the "doubling" effect because it doesn't sound good. I only use stereo delays or chorusing in that instance.

    • @peterworam9376
      @peterworam9376 4 года назад

      Thanks. That's pretty much what I thought. For me it's not worth lugging around another floor monitor since I'm really just using it for stage monitoring. I wish someone made a true stereo frfr floor monitor...

    I prefer to run two completely different amps and cabs hard panned.

    • @LucasFowler
      @LucasFowler  5 лет назад

      That works great too! I end up spending too much time tweaking when I get into two amps, I'll spend two hours on a single patch before I even realize it :P

    • @LaminarSound
      @LaminarSound 5 лет назад

      Lucas Fowler yeah thats definitely easy to do. This thing totally inspires playing. Since i run my full analog board with the Stomp only running the amps, theres less to deal with. Ive got one go to patch(Placater clean/Mesa Mark iii clean). I also have a few other patches ready to go if im feeling Voxy or Fendery or Marshally on a specific day.

    I need help. In the true stereo mode, can i add another line of effects for each side (left and right)? I need more than 8 slot. Considering two slots for amp and IR i can use only 6 effects for side

    • @dpajc056
      @dpajc056 3 года назад

      try dragging an effect block up or down to form a new line from HX Edit on your PC. then add a new block while the line is there and drag back the previous block to its place. If you want the effects in line then on the output reroute to the new line. If you run out of processing power, try a send/return block and run your effects outside of Helix through that block. Good luck!

    Hey Lucas....great stuff!
    Quick question on the live application.
    I just bought my Helix LT and a pair of Headrush speakers. The band I play in uses a mono application for FOH but just for stage monitoring I like feeling the stereo sound come at me and enjoy the fullness. With that said I will likely be sending mono XLR to FOH but using the 1/4 inch for l/r hoping to have some type of stereo richness when monitoring.
    If creating stereo sounds mainly for the 1/4 inch outs to the Headrush speakers will the FOH sound sending in mono be compromised?
    Or would it be best to do the 25ms trick for both FOH and my monitoring?
    Any advice appreciated.........
    Thanks

    • @LucasFowler
      @LucasFowler  2 года назад

      That's a great question. You can sum to mono with most of these stereo effects, but I don't recommend the "25ms doubling" idea in mono, because what you'll end up creating is kind of a hollow, phasey sound. Other than that, I would use stereo paths however you like it. It won't translate as stereo out front if it's summed to mono, but that is often lost on the audience anyway unless you have a very talented sound guy!

    • @zoppifan
      @zoppifan 2 года назад

      @@LucasFowler So if I sum to mono will my monitoring with the 2 Headrush speakers give me a stereo sound? Do I even need 2 speakers if that is the case?

    Why is it when ever people do doubling effects, it always has phaser issues and sounds awful in mono? I'm not trying to hate on your video, it's all videos pretty much. It does that with most stereo effects??????

    • @LaminarSound
      @LaminarSound 5 лет назад

      Jack Funkinstain in stereo, the two parts are hard panned. They are coming out of two separate speakers. You can still have the phase issues but its less noticeable. This is also why in studio work you will rarely see a guitar part tracked this way. 99% of the time the guitarist will track the same part twice. Two separate passes of the same part. The waves are very close but not close enough to cause phase issues.
