    Great job explaining w-d-w! I appreciated your adding the dotted eighth before the amp in path 2 (Edge-like!) and the parallel processing to help the reverb and delays remain distinct.

      Thank you! I took my studio experience and translated it onto the HX Stomp. It really simplifies the workflow when I record; no need to parallel process on the DAW side!

    You should guys know that this method will cause phase misalignment if summoned in mono. It's just good if you listen in stereo only. Some places play music in mono. So it won't sound as good as you think.

  • @amdenis

    Great video and great sound. What recommendations do you have for WDW when it needs to get collapsed or mixed down at some live venues when they only support stereo or mono?

    • @AllAboutWorshipGuitar
      @AllAboutWorshipGuitar  Год назад

      Thank you for the kind words, Andrew! I'd probably try to tweak the patch to wet-dry, with mono delays and reverbs. The legacy Plate reverb sounds ok in mono, and the Glitz in mono tends to be very mushy unless you turn down the modulation.

    Hey Justin, what are your thoughts on running a stereo pedalboard into the helix for amps versus running a stereo board into an HX stomp for amps? will I get a wider stereo image with the two independent paths on helix versus the one path on hx stomp.
    I’m currently running my board into the return one and return two of the helix and hard panning each path left and right I’m only using one amp and cab on each path. Would I be able to do the same thing on hx stomp? Would it sound different seeing as there is only one path on HX stomp?

    • @AllAboutWorshipGuitar
      @AllAboutWorshipGuitar  Год назад +1

      Hi Danny! There shouldn't be a difference except if the send/return inputs have a difference in impedance than the guitar input (they should be the same). I think stereo imaging is the same whether on Helix's independent paths and HX Stomp's single signal path. You'll have a LOT more utility using the Helix to integrate a pedalboard though.

  • @ac8704

    If you set a delay, and pan hard left / right, but then only output in mono with one cable. Do you run into the same issues?

    • @AllAboutWorshipGuitar
      @AllAboutWorshipGuitar  Год назад

      Yes if you output in mono, the Helix and Stomp will mono-sum the entire signal, even delays and reverbs. The problem I have the Helix is that I find most of their reverbs don't sound great when mono-summed. The Legacy Plate seems to be the only one that holds up well in mono-summing situations.

    What's your advice for doing this on HX Stomp with the block limitation? Send block?

    • @AllAboutWorshipGuitar
      @AllAboutWorshipGuitar  Год назад

      W/D/W on the HX Stomp? That's going to be quite a challenge, which I'm happy to undertake. To make it similar to what I did with the Helix, I'll have to create a Split A/B path, with Path A being dry with an amp/cab block, and Path B having another amp/cab block with wet effects. But that sounds like a very DSP-intensive operation, I'll check how it goes!

  • @danieldamico5335
    @danieldamico5335 3 месяца назад +1

    Why the second amp on path 2a. Could you achieve the same by splitting the signal post amp on path 1A?

    • @AllAboutWorshipGuitar
      @AllAboutWorshipGuitar  3 месяца назад +1

      You could, but I wanted to max out path 1A with effects that will end up on the Wet signal path and keep the Dry as dry as possible.

  • @NielsBeier

    This might be a very dumb question: Will this work if you run out through the Left/Mono output with the XLR? Or only work with a L/R going to front of house?
    Curious as I usually send the Left/Mono XLR signal to Front of House, and then use a jack output to send it to a cab on stage :)

    • @AllAboutWorshipGuitar
      @AllAboutWorshipGuitar  2 месяца назад +1

      Not a dumb question! We’re all learning, myself included. You will need stereo L/R for this to work, otherwise you’ll mono-sum the W/D/W which will not be ideal.
      You could potentially send the mono dry through one output, the stereo wet through the sends, DI everything, send the parallel DI output to three FRFR speakers on stage for true wet/dry/wet on stage and to the Front of House (just make sure they hard pan you left and right).

      @@AllAboutWorshipGuitar So in case we come to a gig with limits to the amount of channels, will the mono-output sound terrible? Or just send the Left signal to FoH?

    • @AllAboutWorshipGuitar
      @AllAboutWorshipGuitar  Месяц назад

      @n1ll3r I think it will depend on the venue. Some mono-summed sound systems may sound ok, the best is to test. If it’s bad, try hooking up the right output (to avoid mono summing). Last resort, use a patch you know sounds ok in mono. In general the delays without modulation and the legacy reverbs sound decent in mono.

    I tried out using delay on the 2nd cab. Did you ever notice it made one side louder? When you use dual cabs do you use the same mic or different mics?

    • @AllAboutWorshipGuitar
      @AllAboutWorshipGuitar  Год назад +1

      Hi! Not particularly. First double check that the cab levels are the same on the two sides, sometimes I’ve accidentally nudged it with my mouse scroll wheel. But yes there can be a perceived volume difference if one cab is particularly bass heavy (a 4x12” with a ribbon mic at zero distance) and the other is miced at a distance. But the Haas effect shouldn’t make one side louder than the other.

    • @clfnole
      @clfnole Год назад

      @@AllAboutWorshipGuitar what’s weird with no delay my 2 speakers sounded even but when I add the delay one side gets noticeably louder. I will double check it again but pretty sure levels were the same and I was using the same cab on each side just different mics. I tried your wet/dry/wet setup for another preset and it worked quite well. Don’t think I tried the cab delay on that one though.

    • @kidamazed
      @kidamazed 5 месяцев назад

      I agree @@clfnole! I've played around with this for a long time and my current stance is that it is something we perceive when we hear one signal before another. I say that because I have measured and the levels are indeed the same.

    • @AllAboutWorshipGuitar
      @AllAboutWorshipGuitar  Год назад

      Is there a block in mono after the dual delay? That mono summing will turn the dual delay into a phaser.

    • @roy3253
