2:57 This line of Mariko is a quote from the farewell poem of Hosokawa Gracia, who is said to be the model for Mariko. This old farewell poem, which is more than 400 years old, is still loved by many Japan people living in the present day. This farewell poem beautifully explains why Japan people have loved the fall of cherry blossoms since ancient times. I would like to write down here the farewell poem that Hosokawa Gracia left in this world. 『散りぬべき時知りてこそ 世の中の花も花なれ人も人なれ(Flowers are beautiful because they know when they should fall. People should be like that.)』
Her meaning was clear, but I had no idea of the original connection to Hosokawa's poem. This is what social medium should be. Thank you for taking the time to explain.
This is the only Time Ochiba using her REAL voice to talk to someone. Normally she use a high pitch calm whispery voice which is make her scary "unhuman". The voice here was very human
So mariko knew she was going to die because there was no way they were letting her leave the castle right? That conversation was their goodbye to each other?

Only by knowing when to fall
Do flowers become flowers
And people become people

I like how Anjin was like 2:40 alright deuces.
This scene gave me chills. I felt how much they cared for each other even though they are now enemies
I wouldn’t say enemies, more like a sister telling another this gig ain’t worth it and I’ll miss you like I have these past few years
Seems like there’s still some affection there between them even if their paths have diverged.
Lady Ochiba is incredibly beautiful.
Nah Mariko is
@@cosmasrealestateconsultantMariko is ok.
Both are beautiful.
I agree, followed by the courtesan,Fuji, Mariko doesn’t look Japanese at all.
@IOXY3 no one said anything about looking Japanese but who is the most beautiful there and thats Mariko

I enjoyed the mini-series with Richard Chamberlain which aired back in the 80's, but from the clips that I have seen, this is on another level.
Both have different focuses and as such have different strenghts.
"死後"を受け入れること、すなわち負けること、諦めることではございません。
花は散るがゆえに花なのでございます。
散りぬべき時知りてこそ世の中の
花も花なれ人も人なれ
花は散り際を心得ているからこそ花は花なのでございます。
