Oh man at the end "find the earth wire" is just quickly mentioned... this was the hint to solving my problem! BTW i didn't even need to take anything more than the air filter off to see and fix the problem. The wire wasn't making contact with the throttle assembly at full off position, close but not touching. Just putting this comment here in case anyone else has my same problem. I spent hrs bashing head against wall and took the entire mower apart trying to figure it out.

Hi there is Earth wire hard to find > your right he only briefly metions it at the end but is Most Important ! my Old Rover won't turn off motor Arrrrgggg

@@daniellambert1928 So when you put the lever from full open thottle (rabbit) to full closed a.k.a off (turtle), follow the cable down to the engine and look at what parts move when u move that throttle lever. It will be near this obvious moving part at its end destination, it has to come in contact with this wire to stop.

@loxtuf I see. there is a spring that seems to be doing nothing hence no tension ? but in your video it's pulled tight..
I will look carefully for the wire Many Thanx 🙏

Thanks mate. Going to try that on my dads lawnmower. Been shocked so many times stopping it by pulling out the spark plug.

Nice one, I had the same problem with a Victa Tornado classic, throttle cable was bent so I bent it back. Nice work, would love to see more 2 stroke victa content!

Hi Mate, thanks for the feedback! Always happy to do some more 2 stroke VICTA content :) Out of interest, of the different styles of VICTA videos that I have made is there a particular style that you like? Cheers Drew

@@DrewFixIt Turbo disc series was awesome, at the end when you test cut the lawn that was pretty entertaining. As well as carb services which I find to be interesting too.

I have being binge watching your small engines videos, what’s your background?
I am qualified light and heavy vehicle but more interested in small engines now due to my back and knees

Hi Mate, good to hear that you are watching a few of my videos!! I studied Engineering, thus come at things from more of a theoretical perspective of wanting to understand how things work. I have no formal trade qualifications or experience, so from that perspective I’m completely self taught. What I try to do is to explain things as simply as possible with a minimal amount of fuss whilst still capturing all of the elements!! Cheers Drew

@@DrewFixIt yeah I can see that, your doing well with how you explain and show it. You have fixed me with a few problems, I buy cheap/free off marketplace in Brisbane. I want to get a 2 stroke mower next.

I had the opposite problem with a Sanli OHV I was working on today.
I was adjusting the cable to get it to activate the choke to start it. These OHV four strokes won't start without the choke butterfly fully activated. I had to bend this tab slightly with a pair of pliers to finish getting it fully functional.

Hi James, interesting I picked up a OHV machine the other day in a bundle deal, so any advice appreciated as I have never played with one of these engines before! Cheers Drew

@@DrewFixIt they're well worth getting going as they're quiet and powerful and excellent on fuel.
These no name OHV engines are Chinese Honda copies and work the same way. Often nicknamed Chondas.
There's usually two adjustment screws facing the front, behind the carburettor. Not sure what the inner one does but the outer one furthest from the engine adjusts maximum revs. They don't always work though.
There is a large arm closest to the fuel tank. You can adjust that too. Plenty of videos on the subject.
PS only the ones without a primer bulb are dependent on the choke fully closing in order to start -cold or warmed up! Ones with primers are ok.

Exactly what happened to my old mate Mario the Seaton boy. Wracked my brains out trying to figure out why his mower, victa lawn keeper, (worst deck ever made, left clippings everywhere)wasn’t shutting down and noticed the lever was slightly bent up not engaging. He then told me he hit something whilst mowing the day it wouldn’t shut down 😂.
